I'm currently working on my full review for the Fujifilm X-Pro 3. I thought it might be helpful to share my setup preferences for Fujifilm cameras. My setup can be used on any Fujifilm camera such as the X-Pro2, X-T3, X-T2, X-E3 etc…
The Fujifilm X-T3 is a nice upgrade in the Fujfilm APS-C mirrorless camera line up. Its rangefinder inspired design and innovative viewfinder make it a really interesting camera for street photography. Now we have 4k video, 8 bit F-log and some more options that Fujifilm shooters will love.

As always on your channel, your review was very well done. As you illustrated, are many interesting options that might not immediately be appreciated.
One of the major considerations is to consider that the new X-Pro3 with a "kit" 18-55 is about $700.00-800.00 more than the XT-3 with the same kit lens. I am NOT saying that one is better than the other, but merely pointing out that one pays a considerable premium for the X-Pro.
Obviously there are features in the Pro that some might find worth the added expense. Indeed, in the final minute of your review you suggested that image quality of the X-Pro3 was exceptional. I think that many of us would be interested in knowing if such quality in the X-Pro is superior or different than the X-T3.
Thanks again for these excellent presentations.

4:27 "that's what it would be on a traditional camera" - nice pun towards non-vintage cameras :)
I personally prefer individual, labeled dials over PASM + control dials. I'm glad Fujifilm resurrected them.

I shoot with an X-Pro1. I love Fuji's promo videos for this camera, but I'm VERY anxious to see your real-world review of it. Just with the few examples that I've seen of that Classic Negative sim has me thinking of heading in this direction.

These type tutorials are worth their weight in gold for the amateur/semi-pro photographer...nicely done Ted. I'm itching to purchase my first Fuji camera since they remind me so much of my first Nikon FM. Full disclosure though, I'm holding out for the X-T4? Care to forecast when Fuji might release it?

Hey Ted! I'm in the process of setting up my X-Pro3 and was wondering if there's a way to prevent the EVF panel from stowing itself when powering down the camera. Do you know if the X-Pro3 can keep the EVF in the "engaged" position at all times? This would be super handy when shooting with ultrawides and manual lenses... Unfortunately, I can't figure out what this setting might be called, making it tough to find in the user manual.
Love your channel. Keep the good content coming!

I would love to hear more about the in-camera Auto HDR function. How does this affect the JPG and what type of RAW file are you getting when this function is on? I'm excited to understand Fujifilm's approach "AI" in photographs. I've always thought they could utilize this approach to create more film-like accuracy in there JPG's.

Question for you... I use my camera to do photography (of course) so I have tons of info in my viewer. I also would like to use my camera as stream-camera (using an Elgato card) but to do this I need to remove everything from the viewer otherwise, people will see it. Is there a "one-button" to hide everything... ??

Great review Ted thank you for sharing with us! Just an off-topic question, is the DELETE text misaligned horizontally with the DRIVE on your X-Pro3 as well? I can't decide if this is a design decision or it's just a printing issue on my one. If anyone else can confirm either would be much appreciated.

Some great ideas here that I will be playing with, thank you. I did not realize that the T mode could go into higher speeds.
Question, is there a way to lock the shutter speed limit on Auto ISO so that it is actually a limit. I have noticed that if the light falls below nominal exposure - say in P mode with Auto exposure on - the shutter speed will quickly drop below the LIMIT set if necessary. Why call it a LIMIT if it's not so? Perhaps I'm missing some vital aspect of the setup here to make this an actual LIMIT? Thanks, d

Had a Pro2 and plan on getting the Pro3. I like shooting the 23mm, 35mm and 50mm. Know where I'm going? As you know on the Pro2 you could change the magnification on the OVF so the 23mm and 35mm frame lines were virtually the same that the 50mm was usable. Based on my X100F, 23mm is usual, 35mm is still usable but the 50mm is just silly. I know they made some changes to the OVF but will definitely miss the two magnifications. Was there some technical reason or was the improvements of the new OVF so fantastic that I will be happy regardless of the inconvenience?

I've also recently started shooting with the XPro3 and I love it. But one thing with the Q-Menu I have not yet understood. Does the camera prefer the setting in the Q menu or the simulation I set in the filmsulations menu? So far I assumed that it was the last one selected. But that doesn't seem to be true.
I would be happy if you can help me.

Is there a way to with the Fuji X-Pro3 that will permit a user to toggle between ISO Auto and alternatively setting the ISO on from the front wheel; dial. As I understood it, you could assign the right wheel to make those adjustments so long as you adjust the dial on the top of the camera to ‘C’ … That works nicely, but it seems when you switch that dial to “A” everything has to be re-set. Or am I wrong? Or missing a step?

My wife and I were early adopters of the X Pro-1 and the three prime lenses that were released with it. We have loved the camera and lenses except for the slow auto focus. I think it’s about time to upgrade, but we’re unsure if we should stay with Fuji or migrate to the Sony FF mirrorless cameras that have been so popular. I’d love to hear how you feel about the Fuji cameras vs the Sony A7 series cameras in your review.

Hi if you still have the xpro 1 try the Fuji 16-2.8, 23,35 and 50f2 these 4 lenses are small and fast autofocus and will give the xpro 1 a new lease of life, it really does make a big difference.

Great review and tips! Thank you. - But I can't get my X-pro 3 to recognize that I have remapped the Fn2 button to AF Range Limiter. It is now marked as such in the menu, but pressing that Fn2 button (on the viewfinder lever, front of camera) nothing happens. No menu pops up. Is there a scenario where that AF Range Limiter is not available? Thanks! (So much to learn on this beast.)

Here’s a question for you Ted: I love shooting my Leica film rangefinders and (and if I could afford it) would love to own a Leica M-D because it has no LCD screen. In your opinion can the X-pro 3 be set up to approximate the M-D/film rangefinder experience in a convincing/similar way? My X-Pro 3 arrives Monday so I suppose I’ll know shortly- but I’d love to hear your opinion! : )

Question: Any hacks to have a tripod plate on while retaining the ability to flip the screen all the way down?
Unless Small Rig builds an abomination cage for it... i really cannot image what could be done. In the ideal situation, i would LOVE to have a L-Bracket similar to the one Small Rig made for GFX50R for the X-Pro3.

    • @neilford5262

Dennis Lim The Peak Design standard plate (Arca Swiss compatible) can be mounted to allow the screen to flip most of the way down. It does stick out the front a little, but doesn’t appear to impede the lens, to at least not in the case of my f2 primes. I’ll see if I can photograph it set up and will post a reply if I manage it.

Hi Ted, is it still impossible to set a slowest allowed shutter speed with auto-ISO in aperture priority mode?
There is a user definable setting in X-T3 for example, but camera neglects it when thinks that a frame would be underexposed. So this setting is delusive for the user now.

    • @Yalelax

One would suspect that if you are printing at such large sizes that the file from a full frame sensor would likely be superior for your needs. At prints up to perhaps 12x18 inches the files from an APSC sensor would likely be completely fine. I must add that if you are working professionally, and if one needs to crop the image before printing, then the larger file size would appear to be mandatory.

    • @buddyWalrus
      @buddyWalrus 4 ปีที่แล้ว

While I have seen some reviewers get comparable results with xt2 and 30x30 prints, the xt cameras would not be my first choice if I was primarily printing at that size or larger. I like going up to 16x20 with my xt2 at lower ISOs.

@Naturally Art I see, I'm doing some research on what is the best mirrorless camera to purchase and I I'm leaning on purchasing this one
Fujifilm X pro3 silver with Dura, but I see it's just for photography and no video it's a shame for such great looking camera

Two issues IMHO with the xpro3 for anyone who bothers to read this lol: 1) when shooting without the EVF enabled, the light meter has a significant lag time for whatever reason, and 2) Unless you keep half-pressing the shutter, the sleep mode will activate and may cause you to miss a shot if your out and about and need to capture something very quickly. That feature may be able to be disabled but just something I noticed. Definetely caused me to miss some shots

Totally understand. I really thought about returning the camera but have now fully adapted and prefer it for photography. Not so good for video. I’m now more analytical and faster before the shot like I was in the distant past with a film SLR.

skeeterbait How do you find the image quality from it? I was never over impressed especially anything from iso 3200. I still have the money in the camera store wondering what system to buy in too.

I firmly believe that reviewing images in the EVF will be too immersive, therefore not optimal for working, you could miss what is happening around. To flip out the screen on assignment does not seem very sustainable either. Shame, because I think the range finder-style is a great for professional work.

@Naturally Art if you cant afford the xpro3, the xpro2 is still extremely capable. The main difference is the generation old sensor but it's not a huge difference. In fact, the XPro2 is better with certain focal lengths because the optical viewfinder has multiple magnification levels. The Xpro3 only has one.

    • @ThorenTravels
      @ThorenTravels 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

@Naturally Art Oh, that makes more sense! Shockingly, they did change the OVF and it's set in a single magnification now. Where the Xpro2 had 0.36 and 0.60 magnification, the Xpro3 only has 0.52.

Naturally Art not that it is completely noticeable, but to what I could see it has better dynamic range which is good for your art form, and it is quicker to shoot and focus, well worth the upgrade if you’re using it professionally
