    Ken, fantastic video. I too would have missed the Fn setting shortcut! Now I have a question when going to the B&W film simulations, you said that the Ye makes it look like it would to our eyes, I thought that would be the STD mode. Can you explain the difference between these two?

      I don’t like the Fujis or the LEICAs for actual shooting. Nikon Canon and iPhone have better color rendition for what I shoot, and thus the photos I make with them look better. See www.kenrockwell.com/tech/comparisons/2020-06-leica-versus-iphone-versus-canon-versus-fuji.htm Thanks!

    May I ask your view on the haptic feedback you get from the shutter button? In my camera, when I half press the button, I need to put a bit of an extra effort to press down the button in order to focus and then the remaining distance till I actually take the photo is minimal with no "click" feeling. It feels a bit soft. How is it in other users?

    Anyone else notice that the high refresh rate on the EVF only works if you have the shutter button down? I have BOOST on. That doesn't happen on either my H1 or T2. Did I just get a bad one? If not, KEEP YOUR PRO2. That and the frame lines NOT returning to the center like all the other Fuji cameras but the actual focus is in the center. Check it out.

    Ken, I’d love to get your opinion on something…
    I’m a professional headshot and portrait photographer, in a small studio and with natural light. I have an XT3 and most recently, a X100V, and I’ve fallen seriously in love with the rangefinder style of the X100. So much so, that I’m considering selling the XT3 to get the XPRO3. I’d love your thoughts on that. I actually like the idea of the “hidden” LCD, and I love the connection with my subject when I look through a rangefinder style camera. It’s intimate and I can feel the camera get out of the way. It feels good to have an eye on my subject.
    I have no problem with the XT3, it’s great and reminds me of the old Nikon FE that I trained on as a teen.
    I just feel a deep connection to rangefinder style. I trained on film, shooting since I was 13, and something about the analog feel of the XPRO is calling to me, but unsure how it would be for professional headshots and portraits.
    Would you feel confident to have the XPRO as a main portrait and even a studio camera? Could it replace my XT3?
    I also very occasionally shoot family portraits. My work is all about people and the human connection to clients.
    Thanks for any thoughts! I trust your expertise.

    • @KenRockwellTV
      @KenRockwellTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      The real thing to know is that the xpro series finders aren’t as good as the x100. The simple reason is that the x100 is optimized for only one lens, the 23mm, while the xpro series will have your chosen lens probably only filling a little of the tiny optical finder. By all means get an xpro and try it, but see my written review at www.kenrockwell.com/fuji/x-pro3.htm for details about finder magnification versus lenses. Or heck, get a LEICA M3 www.kenrockwell.com/leica/m3.htm or Nikon SP www.kenrockwell.com/nikon/rangefinder/sp.htm and live it up! They have finders much larger than the tiny xpro finder.

    I like the film simulations when shooting video.
    But that's more what I use my XT3 for. Xpro is really a street photography gadget.
    You can do video, but there is no headphone and it has a worse thermal envelope than the XT3 so it hits limits sooner.
    Not sure if you mentioned it but you have to turn on shoot without lens if you use adapted lenses.
    Which is under the GEAR menu
    Button/Dial setting
    Shoot without lens.
    (totally logical /s)
    Ken, you don't have to jack your voice up to such earsplitting levels.

    • @KenRockwellTV
      @KenRockwellTV  ปีที่แล้ว

      hi! My levels are very carefully set to TH-cam's standard -14 LUFS. What's the problem? It seems to match everything else. Please let me know; I come from a recording and broadcast background and actually spend far more time recording, processing and editing my audio compared to the vide that just comes from my iPhone. I worry about this a lot, tell me more. My audio will be louder than a very quiet video, but should match just about all normal ones. Hit the gear and "Stats for Nerds" where you can see the average level. TH-cam turns down videos that are any louder than this to prevent overly loud video. Tell me more. Thanks!

    • @KenRockwellTV
      @KenRockwellTV  3 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Weird. Not sure what you mean, but be sure it’s not set to raw or tif or something odd or data-bloated like that. Even if the card light stays lit, shooting ought not be impacted; that’s why we have buffers: so you don’t have to wait. Thanks!

      @@Shmyrk I forgot to mention that the use of fast cards will also help. If you google “best cards for X-Pro3”, it should give you an idea. Having said this, even if using the fastest cards, your Clarity setting has a big impact on buffering times. Of course, if you’re using slow ones, plus the Clarity setting not on zero, your buffering will be even longer. Not suggesting that you shouldn’t use that setting, just pointing out what may be causing your long buffering times.

    This was SO painful. I dumped my X-Pro-2 (and 3 primes) because I like to adjust ISO on the fly and HATED that fiddly dual Shutter Speed/ISO dial. If I had known the X-Pro-3 would allow you to use the front Command Dial (unlike the X-Pro-2, but like the X-E and X-100 series) I would have jumped at it. But the TH-cam universe "influencers" were so focused (pun intended) on that LCD, they forgot to mention that Fuji fixed the most fiddly and annoying (IMHO) aspect of the X-Pro-2. I spent 3 years without a camera I would have loved! Arrgghhh...

      I for one love not having a rear visible LCD. They are just prone to getting scratched, turn on when you don't want them. Besides it's so easy to flip out if you need it. You can review EVERYTHING in the EVF if you so with. It's rather redundant to use the rear lcd. Stick with the Xpro2 :)
