I played Usagi Yojimbo on the Commadore 128d when I was a kid and it kicked my arse massively at the time it was so freaking hard! So it’s not just your lack of retro gaming experience it’s the game!
Who's hyped for Usagi's Animated Series?? I know I am and I'm hoping that Adult Swim picks it up as it could have more freedom to delve into darker and more mature themes like The Comics do.
There is actually a stop motion short film of Usagi on TH-cam. From what the guy who made it said, he made it so it could help with getting a Usagi film adaption down the line.
The moment you were going to show what happens if you're bad in the C64 game, I paused the video and swore to god: if Usagi commited Sepuku, this was going to be the best game I've ever seen in my life... AND HE DID! THIS IS THE BEST GAME EVER!!!
Ghost of Tsushima basically is an unofficial Usagi game, but with humans. I'm pretty sure one of the developers even admitted that the Usagi comics were one of their inspirations. Someone should either make a rabbit mod for Tsushima or convince Sucker Punch to go back to their anthro roots with their next game.
@@johnny5isalive2020 I would love to if I get the chance. He did actually write to me on Facebook to compliment my first Top Ten Stories video, which is a treasure memory
That was a fun review Esh! I really gotta read more about Usagi and his adventures. Also your comedy was on point and a few jokes went a way I didn't expect.
Great video! As you can probably tell from my channel name, I love comic book games, and there's no better look at these two than this video. You kind of touched on it, but I'm curious...what would you actually want an Usagi game to be? Maybe that's a topic for a full video from you... 🙂
I'm not a game dev, so it's hard to say. Ideally a fully 3D cel-shaded adventure game, in a maybe not completely open but at least fairly large world where you may encounter somewhat random events. Really sell the wanderer aspect of it. Alternatively, simply doing that proper remake and expansion of the Commodore 64 game as a smaller indie project could be pretty amazing, with combat gameplay inspired by some of the 2D soulslikes we see on the indie market now - if not quite as tough. But that's me spit balling at the top of my head.
ahhh, Usagi Yojimbo. The comic that has the character of Jei, who teaches us all that FOXES ...or...cats? What IS Jei? Point is that JEI IS FUCKING SCARY!
It WAS on Twitch, but is removed now. I still have it on my computer, but I dunno how fun it would be to watch. I enter quite a bit of no-longer-having-a-good-time annoyance by the end. If there's a demand for it, though, I may make a highlight reel or somesuch.

I saw! It's pretty neat.

Hear me out; A fully open world Usagi game would be amazing
I want both an Usagi movie and AAA game. This series deserves bigger attention!
wow i haven't thought of usagi yojimbo since i was a kid in the late 80's. so cool to see he's survived so many years.
2:55. Anyone else think Usagi's face on Commador 64 looks like he's going "Da faq you looking at?"
Hasn't everybody realized Usagi Yojimbo is the coolest comic book ever made? There should be a movies series, a kids cartoon, I mean, c'mon man!
Btw best job ever on a silly and hacky nerd video about the most awesome and obscure topic ever.. Nice work, now interview Stan Sakai.

I'd love a Usagi game in the style of An Elder Scrolls Type RPG
I was loving this review up to the huge spoiler you made about the comic. I wasn't expecting that. :(
this video makes me pray that someday we'll get a fully-fledged super stylized usagi yojimbo open world game 🙏
SUCKER PUNCH, HIT ME UP PSPSPSPSPS

8:25 its like watching someone playing dark souls :P
A channel with more than offhanded mentions of Usagi? SUBBED
Haha, glad you like. I have two More videos about him.on this channel. Enjoy.
Now he's DLC playable character in Shredder's Revenge.
I played this game on a Sinclair ZX Spectrum. At a resolution of a staggering 256x192 ... oh, how the world has changed!
5:30 Funny, they used Face Icon before Wolfenstein 3D!
We need a company like Funko or Tamashii Nations to make Usagi Figures for collectors.
They MUST remake the Commodore 64 version of Usagi Yojimbo!
rcadium you can actually find video of a (Sadly scrapped) fan remake on TH-cam in the form of a GBA ROM. It looks gorgeous.
I just googled it, it looks so good. Why was it scrapped???

Hey, I'd play 'em both! 🙂 But yeah, I agree you really need to nail the ronin aspect somehow.
My life is complet now
Usagi meets Breath of the Wild.... 🤯
Whoa!......
I had it on Commodore 64 :)
ahhh, Usagi Yojimbo. The comic that has the character of Jei, who teaches us all that FOXES ...or...cats? What IS Jei? Point is that JEI IS FUCKING SCARY!
Jei's first (and classic) form was a Wolf. He later possessed Inazuma (Cat) and Priest Hama (Fox, from what I can tell), who is his current body.
I'm pretty sure Usagi was a playable character in a Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles Fighting Game, the one for Wii I think.
Not according to the TMNT Smash-Up Wikipedia page...but there are apparently playable Rabbids. 🙂
I see the skills! You need to get up with us.
Where can I see the stream of the first game?

i want god of war but in japan and usagi

Wow didn't expect a game from the 80's to just kill off your character for being bad.
First😊
