I agree that it's messy, but I still loved it. I would have never thought we would have gotten an actual PK game, back in the day. It was mind-blowing just to think of it, because I didn't think it was "famous" enough
i dont mean to be so off topic but does someone know of a trick to log back into an instagram account..? I stupidly lost my account password. I would love any tips you can give me.
6:20 i am exactly that guy,as this was my first game ever, and general introduction to media. My second was Spyro Enter The Dragonfly. I read everything in the game manual,it explained the characters and the plot I came into contact with PK comics only later,as i was familiar with the game. The Extransformer may be the origin of my infatuation with shields
Am I the only one who thinks this game (and maybe other PS1/PS2-era Disney games) could be given the remake treatment and a release on modern consoles?
Gonna be honest, loved this game as a kid. As a old 26 year old, I can see it be messy. (I read some of the comics, not all) With that said, I still love it as it is. Thou, I agree it could have more content in there.
the "funny" thing about this game is that a lot of stuff that the game doesn't explain is told in a prequel comic made by the authors of the original comic that is included inside the box... but only if you have the first printing of the game, otherwhise the only other way to read it is to buy a specific volume of a collection of PKNA, PK2 and PK that was released as a supplement for an Italian newspaper back in 2012.
listening to the voice acting made me remind myself, how i didn't know, how donald's supposed to sound for several years until i watched a cartoon with him in german... otherwise i mostly knew him from the comics and his cameos in ducktales, where he didn't have the signature voice due to our local voice acting being inaccurate
I think a better name for PK would be Phantom Knight, this really makes me wish we got an animated series on PK that adapted the comics for people who haven't read them (such as myself).
Actually PK is short for paperinik, his original name which is a combination of paperino (Donald's Italian name) and Diabolik, another popular Italian comic series that was the inspiration for paperinik
I looked this video up cuz i was having dreams of this game. It was so much fun back then. Sucks that it sucks. The thing that made it stuck to my mind was the art style and that it was a Donald flipping Duck game.
Some of the issue you point out about the lack of certain characters and possible content... It's due to the game actually being based on the Rebooted Series. That one actually lacks a lot of villains and content. It's only 32 issues long, doesn't have Two, Xahadom, Raider (or rather, it only has Kronin as a very disappointing replacement), it mixes in elements of the PKNA2 series, and so on. It lacks in content because the series it's based on... Doesn't offer content.
Thank you for this, but to clarify my stance a bit, I was unable to find any hard evidence that the game and the reboot were actually connected outside of rumors at the time, and had read very little of the reboot. I believe I do bring up in the video that there are rumors the two have something to do with eachother as well, though I may have misinterpreted that. In either case, the result is still an incredibly bare-bones game, unfortunately.
@@FictionAddiction well, back then, at least in Italy (here, it was REALLY pushed for a licensed game) when the game was announced, it was described to be the "companion game" to the running Reboot series. Even the Game Logo is the same as the Reboot series. I'll see if I can find the whole collection or scans from back then that they discuss this.
You what to know something kinda weird and stupid in terms of this game’s creation: Ubisoft also made Donald Duck: Quack Attack on N64, PS2, etc. and that game was good for just being a Crash clone. Plus they made Rayman 2, one of the best 3D platformers ever made. WTF
Ha, this game scared the shit out of me as a kid. Plan on reading the Duck Avengers comics soon so I skipped your previous video. The brief description of them makes them sound so cool
Ubisoft also made another Donald Game: "Going Quackers" (or Quack Attack). It's like Crash Bandicoot, but with Donald. It's actually pretty good, though it's dofferent depending on the version you play.
This game would have been better had it come out much later on PS2. Early PS2 platformers like Frogger: The Great Quest, Crash 4 and that Spyro: Enter the Dragonfly didnt have much too them, because the console was new and developers didn't have the know-how to give the games more. Disney's Stitch on PS2 was great as a kid, by the same developers too, but it took more advantage of third-person shooting and neat level design than PK could have at the time.
This game is utter shovelware. I'm glad I read the abysmal review of it before playing. Figured I had to give it a fair chance. I've tried games before just because people I follow have hated them, and ended up loving them (Terraria is such a game) but this game was worse than I expected. Thankfully I did not have high expectations so it didn't ruin much.
I disagree with your hate for the game. When I was a child, I had no ANY care for how someone should sound anything like that. I was a child, it was Donald Duck as PK. That's all I cared about. It was my childhood DREAM game. To play and adventure as PK in a cool world with amazing artwork. I just accepted all the things you were questioning in the video. I didn't care why things were like they were, I didn't argue with the logic in the game, it was fun I loved the voices and sounds of the characters and effects, it was enticing for a small brained child, as a child you don't care about those things. This game was a fricking MASTERPIECE, that was one of the main pillars of my video game childhood. And I wish there would have been more of this. I remember how I loved to wake up in the morning or come after school to just kick Evronian butt as PK and it was a satisfying experience just to do that. Now I understand that it didn't have a lot from the PKNA world or didn't have a lot new things or change along the game, but it was simple, quirky, fun and it was PK and as child that was enough when you haven't read the comics or even heard of them before. And on my case, it did deliver the mission of captulating a child to the comics. Today solely because of the game, I want to read all the comics about this world of PK. I still wish there would be made more to this world of PK and Evronians, like a show, but alas, it probably stays as one of those golden memories from when one was a child, to be come back to and remember the days of childhood.
Out of the shadows is the North American title, here in Scandinavia it was just called "Donald Duck PK" :P Don't think I didn't recognize that Danish cover. As many flaws as this game has, honestly it's a better version of bringing the shoot 'em up platformer to 3D than whatever the fuck Mega Man X7 attempted to be. Someone who seems oddly absent is Xadhoom, I normally think of Xadhoom as the "main" PK sidecharacter beyond One.
Hello! I know this is a bit late, but can you please review more about the duck avenger? I'm really curious as to what the duck avenger is about! 😊 love your reviews by the way!! 😄😄😄
I really like the music in this game but the basic controls and lack of content makes it feel like it was a very rushed game. I wish the devs had more time to develop this game back in the day as I could easily see this become a series if it had gotten the love it needed.
So are you going to review the Spider-Man 2 video game next or was that just an ending bit? I'd love to see you review it if that's what you're planning.
I was excited when I heard about this game but when I read the reviews it felt like disappointment punching me in face. Shame this is the PK version of Donald Duck sole outing on game consoles. I heard there was a PK mobile game called Phantom Duck in English and that it was at least decent.
I agree that it's messy, but I still loved it. I would have never thought we would have gotten an actual PK game, back in the day. It was mind-blowing just to think of it, because I didn't think it was "famous" enough
But you have to admit the soundtrack that was composed by Daniel Masson is amazing.

@Lucas Alexzander Instablaster :)

I remember reading about this in a Disney magazine when I was a little kid. Completely forgot about it until now.

ive been looking for PK out of the shadows for a while.
The Italian name of this game is 'Who Is PK?' for some reason.
Quello doveva essere il titolo della versione americana, perché noi lo sapevamo, loro no.
Which is funny, since the Italians should have the best idea out of anyone in the world. Most Duck Avenger \ Paparinik comics were made in Italy!

Man, Rob Paulson does not fit Donald, at all. It's surreal to hear his voice come out of Donald.
Man your videos are really well made you need more views
Ubisoft also made another Donald Game: "Going Quackers" (or Quack Attack). It's like Crash Bandicoot, but with Donald. It's actually pretty good, though it's dofferent depending on the version you play.

would be really cool if you could make a video about PK2 or the other new pkna series that came out
Just a lovely kid game why think so much :D
Actually the Out of the Shadows title came from a Ninja Turtle game that was called Out of the Shadows.
I wish could have Tony Anselmo voiced PK, instead of Rob Paulson
Yippie! Great episode as always! Also 10:34 had me laughing so hard I almost fell to the floor XD
3:54...Sha...Shadman?...
In Germany he is called Phantomias :)
Makes sense since the thief that inspired donald to originally become the duck avenger and he got the equipment of was called Fantomius.
Out of the shadows is the North American title, here in Scandinavia it was just called "Donald Duck PK" :P Don't think I didn't recognize that Danish cover. DD: Pk is the one yall want. Way better. Also Going Quakers is fun.
What is dd:pk

Wow i had this game when i was like 7 never played cause it was to challenging lol. Great video brother

Whovian Roxas just an ending bit.
Aw. Well, looking forward to your next review either way. :)
The gameplay and design feels like they wanted to copy Rayman 2 but did not really understand what made it great.
I was excited when I heard about this game but when I read the reviews it felt like disappointment punching me in face. Shame this is the PK version of Donald Duck sole outing on game consoles.
I heard there was a PK mobile game called Phantom Duck in English and that it was at least decent.
Stálöndin!

Fiction Addiction we’re can I get the comics
