Dual-carriageway pedestrian crossing next to the high street in Peterborough city centre. Notice on some pedestrian signals, there is a time gap between the light change from green man to red man.

Is a different shaped box the older one is a rectangular PCaTs crossing box the newer one is more like a weird shape but it's still features A same 1999 pedestrian crossing chime

At the end of last year / beginning of this year, the traffic lights in Dorchester were renewed & upgraded (from old GEC Elliot's to new Siemens) & they installed this new type of Puffin Crossing, with sensors on top of the poles, to detect if someone's there & if they aren't, then they'll self-cancel (if the button has been pressed), which is clever 'n all. Thing is, I pushed the button so I could cross the road, but then I walked away from the crossing to look up the road slightly & I had walked away from the sensors, so it self-cancelled, so I was there for about 5 minutes, constantly pressing the button & it self-cancelling every time, all because I wasn't standing in the right place. In the end, I just thought "oh bollocks to this!" & crossed the road with it on red (no traffic coming of course) & then after I crossed, it turned green >:(

I think I first saw one of those in Norwich and I was like "that's pretty cool". I don't Know if a new pedestrian crossing down a local road has this self cancel thingy so I guess I'll have to check it out.

Hmm. Well this ped crossing is a bit newer so it has the ped lights on the pole instead.

I'm really not a fan of Puffin crossings. They could have done a hybrid between a Puffin, using the intelligent part, and a Pelican crossing with the pedestrian lights on the pole opposite. I think it's better to be able to see the lights when you cross.
