    An excellent video UK Level Crossings Channel. The pedestrian signals are called 'Cuddle', yes really, and along with the traffic lights were manufactured by the now extinct company Visilogue.

      Ah thanks 😎 I thought the equipment looked rather unique. Nice to know there's always someone that'll know the answer 👍

      Why does the pedestrian crossing light flicker and the red man and green Man flicker as well why does it do that and are they LED diodes

  • @joshuatk59

    I live nearby, in the last year the LEDs in these signals began to dim/fade (often happens to LEDs that are being overpowered). The council began replacing the LED modules in Redhill with newer versions akin to 'modern' LED traffic lights.

    Now these are interesting but I can't say I haven't seen them before. I've been to Redhill Loads of times but I've not seen these here. Nice video!

    I've seen these lights and similar ones before but never thought anything of them! I believe there are similar in Ashtead but I'm not sure...

    This is a couple of years old, but these two tier puffin crossings are common in more built up areas and cities.
    Really, it's a design oversight to keep the signal so low in the first place, made obvious by the fact they had to start adding a second signal. They could have always just had a button lower and the signal higher.
    Obviously, these things aren't properly product tested or approved by Government departments.
    Plus, the buttons are still just tiny. They can remake these with a giant button by itself (with an indicator it has been pressed, still), and the signal in a separate and higher position.

      The use of either one or two nearside red/green indicators I've found are usually down to how busy the crossing point is for pedestrian usage. Generally bigger crossing on busier roads have two signals on one pole, or even two signals on two different poles on one side.

    I've not seen these type of lights before. They've put an additional pedestrian light higher up the pole so if there is a crowd of people, they can always be seen and not obscured. I really don't like Puffin crossings, they should have hybrid Puffin crossings with the sensors but far side pedestrian lights.

      I've not seen them anywhere else either. I don't know how busy this ped crossing gets as to whether it is justified putting an extra set of pole lights on. I like near-side peds more than the far-side peds in my opinion.

      Hmm. I didn't no at first. According to Epalvosh, it's a company which no longer exists.

    Not sure of the signal, but the southern fried chicken at The Sun, which is adjacent to the signal, is certainly the best in town.

    are the traffic lights meant to be flashing like that or is it just you camera

      Its my camera 😊

    • @danthw_
      @danthw_ 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The LEDs flash quickly to save power. They're only on for half of the time that way. It's not noticeable to your eyes but the camera picks it up.

    • @lfewell2161
      @lfewell2161 5 ปีที่แล้ว

      Is it your camera or the speed of the camera coinciding with the frequency of the electricity supply. All LEDs where AC is involved have no option but to pulse at the same frequency . I don't know a lot about cameras but if you can change the speed it may solve the problem. You must have videoed many LED lights without flicker so there is a way round it.

    • @UKLevelCrossingsChannel
      @UKLevelCrossingsChannel  5 ปีที่แล้ว

      LED wigwags (level crossing lights) operate at a faster frequency than these traffic lights, thus no flickering is picked up by the camera.
