Thanks for the video but having owned the same bike (and waiting for the dealer to open again for my first 600m service!) I would like to correct a few things mentioned.
First of all, you can throw a lot of options at this bike (yours was a base model) and if you feel really flushed bring the cost from around £10K to easily £15K. The points I'd like to correct then are:
    1) The bore has been enlarged from the 850GS not simply 'tuned' as stated.
    2) Key-less ignition IS an option (works also on fuel cap and alarm)
    3) There are NO BMW tank bag options currently but panniers can now be ordered in specific colours
    4) A centre stand IS an option provided you don't have a low frame 775mm height option (ESA also then forfeited)
    5) Rear suspension can be adjusted for both pre-load and rebound
    6) Auto-blipper down-shifter IS available as an option together with up-shifter
    7) A top box IS an option although you need to order a rack for it to sit on too.
    8) An after market exhaust is NOT available currently but is likely (by Akrapovic) in the future
    9) You mentioned no real electronics but they ARE there in abundance (eg Pro leaning ABS/traction control, SOS) as options
It's an absolutely lovely bike (though there is the odd niggle I have) and riders will be very proud to own one. And ride the machine when this pesky virus is behind us!

Kevin Viney hiya Kevin thanks for the update. We realised it was the base model but could find no information about upgrades as the dealer had only had the bike a couple of days. Thats why I like doing these videos as there is always more information out there. Keep well.

hey Kevin, great comment! I am considering this bike, what are the odd niggles you have? Ride safe

      @@SiriKaktiki
      1) Chain, as mentioned with mine becoming well out of sag tolerance (40mm on the lowered frame model) after 600 miles
      2) Labels showing pannier/top box maximum weights peel off rather too quickly
      3) BMW OEM engine crash bars only just extend beyond valve covers so don't protect say pegs or exhaust in a drop
      4) Surface rust appeared rather quickly on parts of the chain despite good lubrication after washing
Nothing big (and the chain stretch may settle down over time) but just worth bearing in mind. It's still a lovely bike!

Kev , this is great clarification on some points. Can I query 4) , do you mean you forfeit ESA if you opt for the low 775 height option ?

    • @kevinmobile
      @kevinmobile 3 ปีที่แล้ว

@@paulcollings5424 Hi Paul, yes there simply isn't room to fit the electronic suspension on the factory-lowered machine so you need to decide whether this is a deal-breaker. For me this wasn't an issue and the rear shock has performed admirably and only really has to be adjusted manually if you ride pillion.

The comparison with a XR 1000 is wrong , this is a new model for BMW and this 900 XR cost a lot less and that’s why you’d buy this one .
Looks like you enjoy doing youtube videos so keep going , it’s something to do 👍

well said seemed a bit mixed up, this is a new bike! stop calling it/comparing it to the 1000, which lauches 25th April.

I really like it. Breath of fresh air for a BMW. Looks to be great VFM. You don't get Telelever and shaft drive, but you do get to save many $$$'s on the purchase price compared to BMW's bigger, heavier and much more expensive options. And as to abilities? Doesn't seem like it misses out on much compared to the GS/GSA except weight and cost, unless you want to truly take it off road - aka over terra firma with no roads, - and play Ewan and Charlie games, - or even an RT - unless you want to tour continents via motorways two up.

Good video. I'm sure you know by now that this new F900XR does come with all the bells and whistles, but your bike just didn't have it. Also why do you keep comparing it to the X1000 when this is the replacement for the F800 ....well, sort of. And I love this colour. I know, I know. Opinions vary. :)

As usual this is a great review. What do you think abbout the wind protection. (I just sold my 1200 gs and I am in the market for a new bike - this one or, if the budget will allow, the 1000 xr). The wind protection and the small tank might be issues.

Maybe do a bit of research first I realize you reviewed the demo bike but most of the things you picked up on are available ie center stand, ESA rear suspension and keyless ride other than that great review
