This was my army. While a lot of the siege battles I did with this were against ogres I was able to shoot over the walls of siege maps where there is some elevation near the edge of the map and shooting through gaps or going up on the walls when nothing of the enemy units could do it did take longer than a regular battle it still performed well enough. These guys have snipe so while trees will block shots they actually shoot very well from inside trees. Yeah I gave the heroes names of famous snipers XD the lord's is based on a story about Hochland going up against nurgle. He has defeat traits that I farmed by loading him into different Empire campaigns, ended up recruiting him at level 10 but worth it.

Very boring IMO and hardly scratches the depth of the battles as I don't think there is anything with equipment or levels for heroes or anything like that

It just might be an 8/10 doomstack but still annoyed that CA removed Wood Elves' range trait stacking for heroes but allows Empire to have range trait stacking for their heroes.

It’s not a doomstack per say, but the army composition I’ve settled on in my Nuln campaign is as follows: 1 lord and 4 engineers with hochland scopes, 4 outriders with grenade launchers, 4 rocket batteries, 6 nuln Ironsides, and 1 hochland longrifle unit. It was only recently I’ve discovered that the outriders can aim their shots just like a mortar or archer unit during siege battles to fire over the walls.
The AI had some opportunities to ambush it but they were so scared I had to besiege a settlement after I let them take it just to get that many armies in one place and not run away..
Have u ever thought about making a repsoitory with all the save file for your community (as long the author is ok with that) i would love to check some of the disasters and doomstacks
He usually mentions the armies that the current doomstack may struggle against, and for most of the 10/10 doomstacks, only another doomstack could hope to beat them but as he says, the AI never really builds doomstacks and never uses them correctly if they get one by chance
if only maps in this game were good and big enough to actually utilize such range on gunpowder units because overwhelming majority of the maps are "competitive" tiny arenas which scream designed for pvp.

Unless microed to an unachievable degree high difficulty does make a pretty significant difference by virtue of leadership alone. Because unis route a lot later, fire at will will end up shooting into nearly dead units, meaning healthier units behind will get extra movement in before being peppered.
The closer target to unit's max range the lower change to hit it, so additional range would put a unit at, say 300 range to a relative closer position and thus better chance to hit.
Ah yes. The Hrockland Long Rifles! I love how I hate to hear how people can't pronounce Hochland. I know that's just an issue for one specific country in the world to know how it's properly supposed to be pronounced, but it still makes me cringe to hear almost everyone struggle with it. At least I know how my french friend feels when I try to pronounce Bretonian territories or names.

Also works to this or that degree with pretty much any ranged unit in empire's roster. Skirmish cav, hunters, whatever. Talon of Kurnous was a busted trait, and so is this.
I love having a few of these in my Empire armies, but this seems like overkill. Sure, when it functions its insane, but there are going to be too many scenarios where this doesn't feel great to use. I like a more well-rounded black powder army that has various tools for various situations. I only play Empire black powder armies these days and this looks hella frustrating to play with. @Legend, these actually are quite useful when attacking cities. Once you breach the walls and can start an entry point (more easily done with covering artillery fire or leading tanks) throwing a few of these on the walls can help lock down your position and give you a secured location from which to take locations throughout the city by providing covering fire to keep the defenders pushed back. I will usually follow up with more standard rifles to lock down streets and push further and further in until the city is taken. I've done a TON of sieges with black powder-only armies and haven't lost in ages since leaning into this combined arms approach.
I guess this would shred even the Thunderbarge stack, as long as terrain s favorable. (Easier to hit barges as they’re in the air, so less obstructions). Don’t know why you’d attack the the Stunties though except if you’re trying to get world domination…
No way can you kill enough thunderbarges with 70% missile resistance and fast regen before they get on top of you. This is not even close to thunderbarge doomstack.
Nuln Ironsides have better dps than the longrifle unit, and with the same amount of heroes as depicted in the video 350m range is nothing to sneeze at.
I wonder if a few Nuln Ironsides could be a nice addition to add a bit of failsafe for melee dangers, with their improved melee capabilities and pretty nice firepower, I'd say 3 of them could help a fair bit while not loosing that much damage output since they'll also benefit from the long scopes
There is a mod on the Steam workshop that adds the Hochland Scopes trait to the Skaven and a few other factions, in case anyone wanted to mess around with that. (More "Scopes" Trait)
So sad they removed that same staking from the Skaven, they should totally reintroduce most trait stacks or limit it to like 3-5 (you could literally include this knowledge in the tooltip).
I’ve only had the trait spawn on heroes for me. In order to satisfy my urge for unstoppable armies across the world, I’ve had to resort to copying and pasting lords with the save character system.

The only "Dig In!" ability for the Dwarves that I'm aware of is the ability for organ guns that you can get fron Malakai's adventures. Is there a tech I'm missing or something?
It will. The Wood Elves used to be able to do this with their own trait. That got nerfed from affecting the whole army and stacking to just affecting the hero. And you could get a range increase trait on a hero with no range attack. Like getting the Determined trait on a Slayer.

This can be a really powerful reinforcement army as well. They don't really need to run for too long to get in range as they can shoot halfway across the map

I have done this where the long rifles had the range to take out the chorfs dreadquakes before they got in range. I prefer to go 7-8 nuln ironsides and 3-4 hlr as the ironsides are much better in melee and output more damage at close range due to extra entities
recently finished a campaign as empire with elsbeth. overall very fun, but i found that thrones has added some nuts power creep to the game. the one thing i dint fully understand about the hochland riflemen is why they have innate snipe but no stalk

I like gccm mod. It change most of the maps with custom ones. Imo they are way better compared to the Ca maps (also less 45% deployment zone)

I could not find ONE engineer with this trait in my game. Not a single one. Not a hero, not a lord, no one.

Are you recruit and disbanding the one with the trait that you don't want? Otherwise they get refreshed every 5 turn or something

Doomstacks work bc of campaign mechanics. We would all have to play a multi-player campaign together until we got our armies together.
Queen Bess has 450 base range which can easily be temp buffed to near 800 with a Gunnery Wight ability.

recently finished a campaign as empire with elsbeth. overall very fun, but i found that thrones has added some nuts power creep to the game. the one thing i dint fully understand about the hochland riflemen is why they have innate snipe but no stalk
Bc you are supposed to place them in trees. I think it balances them and is a lore reference to hochland forest snipers
In bretonnia there are many maps with terrible terrain for such armies slongside so many forests plus they are using cavalry
