"Kirov reporting!"
Warp-gas mix, optimal
"Oh, look, there's your house... let's pay a visit!"
Hell March kicks in.
You are a man of culture.
Ahh! The sounds of destruction!
Imagine being a skaven and thinking "Yeah, let's ambush-attack 17 thunderbarges" 💀
They'd be too busy squirting their musk of fear everywhere
I think that if you came across this in a skaven campaign and ambushed it, that'd be your best bet. You'd need to use a couple versions of the warpstorm spell to lock down the barges and focus all of your weapons teams on killing the lord and his two heroes to trigger a boots-on-the-ground win. Is that still a thing in TWW3?
Honestly sounds like a very skaven thing to do
@@joffrecordan boots on the ground is still a thing as far as i remember.
In the books they try it on the Spirit of Grungi, which is a lot tougher in the books than it is in the game.
Fun fact: the dawi endgame crisis instantly gives each dawi faction (other than your own of course) several high-tier armies with zero upkeep, including the legendary lords.
*The legendary lords you can confederate with settled grudges.*
You get all of their endgame armies which still have zero upkeep, and get this - the zero upkeep is tied to the lord, not the units. YOU CAN HAVE SEVERAL FULL THUNDERBARGE STACKS AT ZERO UPKEEP.
1 wrong made right, but the Great Book of Grudges remains full.
it's 2 now, 1st was the canon doomstack.
This is literally the fire nation's blimp army at the end of ATLA
I thought the same thing lol
No, because this one is actually effective.
@@Limrasson The Fire Nation blimp fleet would have been effective if it hadn´t been attacked from both outside and inside by TEAM AVATAR!
Remember they were going up against the Earth Kingdom, there were no anti-air capacities even remotely capable of dealing with even a single of their air ships.
Plus Sozin´s Comet powered up all the Fire Benders as well.
@@sim.frischh9781 You would be right, if they were in the Earth Kingdom.
They were not. They went from the Fire Nation to the main continent and started burning some rocks and maybe some trees. There were 16 blimps if I'm not mistaken. Even with modern blimp speed and ignoring the fact that firebenders spew fire into the direction they are moving (the firebenders don't yeet themselves either), they wouldn't have done much by the time the comet leaves.
And yes all the other firebenders were powered up. We've got 2 amazing scenes (liberation of Ba Sing Se and the final Agni Kai), however apparently every fire nation soldier not on the blimps sits the comet out too.
The Dawi are better firebenders than the firebenders.
@@Limrasson My point was that all those failings would not have made the blimps ineffective.
Certainly not on the level of the Thunderbarge since they didn´t have cannons, but they DID have bombs and Fire Benders who are not as far reaching yet still a real threat.
And if you watch the map you see that pretty much all that main continent IS Earth Kingdom.
This is basically just bringing in a stack of AC-130s while your enemy only has bows and muskets.
Having bows and muskets is already lucky. Think of Khorne and Slaanesh, all they can do is standing on the ground and watching the Thunderbarges butchering every one of them......🤣

Dwarfs, the "technologically advanced" faction, have been falling behind in the arms race to almost everyone from day one.
Then the dwarfs woke up one day, and said: "alright, it's time to show these wazzocks how its done".
Literally building a WMD in secret, their own manhattan project
The way it’s explained in the lore is Dwarf craftsmanship is the best but it’s really slow at innovation, Skaven has crazy tech even space travel and cellphones but it’s very unreliable tech that often blows up where as the dwarfs are refined and make good quality.
I’m glad we’re finally just starting to see their more “wacky” inventions.

I guess the real question is how few Thunderbarges become a 10/10 doomstack?

About 5 of them, I suppose.
Probably like 3
Even just 1 completely skyrockets the strength of the army in battle to the stratosphere
like 3 it seems

CA: Traits farming is OP, must nerf
Also CA:
I guess SoC flopped so hard they had to crank the OP counter to 11 for new DLCs
Chaos Dwarfs are still the most overpowered at launch DLC they've ever released. Best missile infantry, best artillery, best LL, best single entity flying monsters...
Dwarfs deserved a buff they have been the weakest race for years
How did they nerf trait farming?
@@j.jbinks9669 They put a cap on how many you can actually farm, but IIRC it's quite high anyway.
@@j.jbinks9669 I think it’s when they limited the number of traits your lords can get to something like 40, and each time you fight a new race it adds a new unremovable trait against the race that is hidden until completion, so it’s super hard to have desired trait without attaining the cap
Dwarfs sucked for like 7 years lmao let them have their time in the sun lmao
While technically flying melee SEs could maybe do something, Thunderburner exists. And with 90 speed base you can outrun most flyers, and those few you can't outrun will be unable to attack you anyway, since flying melee forces the fighters to stop in place, while the barge can keep running away and blasting. And there is the Spear...
The only thing I can think of that might be able to fight this under the right conditions is a maxed out Imrik + dragon stack and some spellcaster that can imobilize the thunderbarge, but i don't know how you would keep the spellcaster alive long enough.
Thunderbarges can straight up just fly away from a bloodthirster in normal speed and air vs air combat jank will make the barge near invincible.
@@-tn-kitten8067you can harpoon Imrik out of the sky pretty easily with the special ability. And the dragons won't be much an issue either with just kiting them.
Maybe if you brought 2 full dragon spams
You'd need flying melee AND a net spell.
@@darthplagueis13you need the net too- the anti-air spells like tempest don’t stop them, they still move at like 60
This is definitely the most "war crime aesthetic" doomstack I've ever seen
Nah, skaven mustard-bombers are more warcrimey
We waited for Thunderbarges since WH:1, and boy is it worth it
Every patch since release that Dawi did not get the Thunderbarge, it received 1 buff.
"This is the most over powered flying doomstack. Nothing can do enough damage to you in the air unless you're large single entity flyers."
_-Imirik has entered the chat._
Imril seems like he'd do alright...but its pointless. They have too much hp, heal and speed. Spear of grungi will cut imrik down too. Even slowing them barely works...
Ah yes, Zeppelins. Famously tough aircraft that are very resistant to missile fire.
you have magic.
You could give a toddler this doomstack and still no army wouldn't be able to beat it
Todd-ler 😂
The only weakness I can think of regarding a Doomstack like this, is that the Thunderbarges themselves are not unbreakable, so 'in theory' the best counter to them would be to just kill/route the ground forces and then the Thunderbarges will flee away on their own.
...This is all assuming one can do that without their own army getting demolished in the process.
just hide the lord
I think leadership debuff stacks would still beat it because they aren't unbreakable, but yeah in terms of traditional stuff it is stupid strong.
The only complaint i have about the Thunderbarges is that the Spirit Of Grugni should be in size more akin to the Hindenburg, than a... let's call it "Recreational Blimp" xD
That's marvellous! Here is the video of the thunderbarke doomstack. I knew it was coming soon. It's about time all the grudges were finally settled.
I remember i was playing as Malakai and went up against a slaanesh settlment with a garrisoned lord.
Auto resolve said id lose a barge. Against Slaanesh.
The only two things that could damage them was a single unit of furies and the magic of the lvl 1 lord.
And autoresolve said id lose a thunderbarge.
Queue Tariffs skyjunk video
Auto resolve used to be drunk and needing to go home. Now, it's so high I'm surprised it can function.
You can probably achieve most things 17 thunderbarges can do with 4 thunderbarges.
5 barges beat everything any more is just speeding up the process
Flying melee units don't kill thunderbarge either. If you put on the afterburner they are too fast for melee animation to hit.
My favourite thing about thunderbarges isn't running them as a full stack (though that's obviously the most effective one) but as support for a gyrocopter army, since they fix the no. 1 weakness of gyrocopter stacks, their vulnerability to massed range, by soaking up all of that damage and creating highly mobile safezones your gyro squadrons can strike out from
3:51 the gyrocopter where like "nah, fuck that"
🤣🤣🤣
Long ago the dwarfs lived together in harmony.
But everything changed when the Innovators atatcked.
Only the Grudgebearer master of the book of Grudges could stop them.
But when the clans needed him most, he vanished.
I love the thunderbarge and I hope it doesn't get nerfed too bad. Because this is an endgame unit. By the time you get it your campaign is mostly won.
personally I hope that it doesn't get outright nerfed at all but it definitely needs a multiplayer cost increase. 2800 for a Thunderbarge is absurd. they should cost at least as much as a Dread Saurian (3100), probably more than the Shredder of Lustria (3700). 4000-4500 feels like a good range.
if they do nerf it in campaign I hope that nerf is mostly just a unit cap (1 Thunderbarge per tier 5 engineer building). only actual nerfing I feel like they need at all is that their afterburner should probably deal a bit more damage.
@@Eclipsed_Embers Afterburner needs to be removed entirely. It's completely unnecessary.
@@fcon2123 It's kinda fitting, but the penalty it inflicts is too small. The more you use it in battle, the more the self-damage it inflicts should go up.
Personally I hope that the base version get's nerfed big time but yiu can buff the hell out of it and add new abilities and stuff for it in the skill and tech trees.
@@Eclipsed_Embers There's sorta no cost where it's functionally balanced is the thing, it's so degenerate in a lot of matchups and even factions that have tools to work against it will have to centre their builds around doing so. You basically have to cost it so high it's soft-banned or nerf it.
Personally I'd mainly just slash the afterburner buff to give it 50-60 speed not 90 and knock off like 60 armour (it's a big goddamn balloon for crying out loud) and that might make it appropriate, if still hard to deal with for the likes of Slaanesh.
"this is the dwarves solution to the skaven" i'm at the opposite opinion: the skaven live underground because thats where thunderbarges cant get to them XD
Every LOTW video intro: "Ledgendototawahere, today we have..."

Hahahaha yes! When I saw them moving together I had a flash back
I love how you’re going through the stats and abilities at the start of the battle as if they’re aren’t going to just obliterate anything they come across.
This is the final battle of Avatar the last Airbender.
Yea and your the fire nation without an team avatar opposing you.
Legend, it doesn't even have to be a full stack.
What you did in this video, i did the same for the Greenskin Endgame crisis with only 4 Thunderbarges!!
Another thing to note is that malakais army get the benefit of liquid fortification once you upgrade his hordes mead hall for army wide hp gain anyway so even stronger than what your guessing
Malakai and the two Master Engineers just chilling out in the forest on deck chair and watching the chaos
The Thunderbarge is like a bastard child of an Apache helicopter and an AC-130...
I like when he fired the Spear of Grugni at 6:15, it missed the target because he was knocked down, but impaled the guy behind him
and the fact you also have the spirit of grungi which is just an extra more powerfull one
Never thought I would see the debut of cinematic camera in Legends gameplay...
This is the most bonkers balancing I've ever seen in any game.
This 100% confirms that CA does 0 internal balance testing, they just have devs look at numbers of units already in the game and ballpark what the numbers of the new unit should be.
I do wholly love the concept & execution of the Thunderbarge though, very much so.
the stacks costs lke 17k gold perturn, beig serious id rather build like 4 really good armies instead of this doomstack
I mean, you don’t have to doomstack. Having like 4-5 of these in an army is plenty, and much cheaper too.
@@googleforcedhandle I was just talking about a singular Thunderbarge, conceptually.
It literally has no weakness, there's no way the AI can handle this unit. And I feel sympathy for any multiplayers who see they have queued up against Dwarfs.
@@Khalkara An average thunderbarge is a lot more vulnerable to missiles than this video would suggest. They won't normally have 70% missile resistance
"Does 0 internal balancing testing" nah, that is juts silly hyperbole. If you really think so here is one simple question: how many of units and heroes are either in D-tier or even close to same tier ad thundrrbarge? Answer: only thunderbarge. That is some really good luck to have only 1 unbalanced unit.
I was fighting with 3 of these balloons and somehow got one to shoot the spear into another, it caused like 1/8th of damage and healed it with one use of Malakai's heal.
These things are truly indestructible and I love it.
They’re not even weak to single flying entities, the way the thunder burner works doesn’t deal a relevant amount of damage, applies despite storm spells, (moving at like 60-70 speed inside a tempest) and outruns blood-thirsters, while shooting.
I just hear the sad music from avatar when the gunships start firing on the blue people

Kirov reporting.
"Kirov reporting in" from Command and Conquer 2 just filled my ears looking at them lol
I would love to see this army against the best Warhammer 2 doomstack (imho the max Ward save Phoenix stack)
it isnt close, this is the most comically overpowered thing in the entirety of total war, and it isnt evem remotely close.
dwarves went from an underground race to the strongest airforce the world has ever seen
They reallllllly really needed to sell this dlc. Couldn't risk weak new centre pieces
''Hell March'' intensifies.
In my opinion they need to give it some serious fire weakness and make it so that if it is engaged in combat it cannot shoot to simulate a "boarding" or an aerial attack, also reduce the speed from the afterburner just a bit
Heresy, let it stay completely broken. Lmao
They would need to give it melee ability in that case, otherwise it becomes helpless. If you used ranged units to shoot attackers, you'll shoot your barge as well
To be honest if CA wants to balance it for pvp fair enough, however whether or not you play dwarfs in single player broken units are cool! They suck to fight against but are fun to have a power trip with. I acknowledge that the total war multiplayer exists in a strong manner but the majority of players play campaign punishing the many in favor of the few seems stupid best to separate the change you suggest between the two or dont do it at all. Especially when you could go ghorst and break your opponent with zombies. Gotta love ghorst who can make a true doom stack of zombies
This is what post WW1 airpower theorists imagined when they said 'the bomber will always get through'
Before the bots of slanesh
Better than the bots of Nurgle, I suppose
Seeing this makes me really excited... for the disaster battles against thunderbarges.
I guarantee that once the filthy thrill of this thing wears off, people will come to fucking hate this unit.
It's far too unbalanced.
I already hate them. Of course, I refused to play steam tanks in tabletop because I felt the lore was too ridiculous.
As Legend pointed out, when the AI comes at you with it it won't be at 70% missile resistance.
From the look of them, when they don't have ridiculous missile resistance they might suffer from Dread Saurian syndrome: their massive size (and for them slow speed) makes missile units unusually accurate against them, making them die quickly to things far cheaper than them.
@@Xaphnir This. CA mostly balances for multiplayer, where their cost, large size, and slow turning radius means that they are either your win condition, or your lose condition. Single-player balance is an afterthought, and it shows here.
Its like a line of star destroyers opening up all at once.
I think the Thunderbarge mod balance/limitation of 1 cap per tier 5 engineer building (+ airfield tier 4), could balance this for head to head multiplayer. You need a lot of settlements at tier 5 to get this stack, or have 17 or 8 double barge strong armies.
As an addition, the first army ability (that you get since turn 1) summons one of this babies
I think it’s fine if they leave a lot of these doom stacks in the game, seeing as you need a lot of campaign mechanics to make them work, they can have them be balanced for both single player and multiplayer. Except campaign multiplayer that’s gonna be different
easy balance option would be a weakness to flying tag on them, that way other lower tier flying units could easily counter this causing less thunderbarge spams and give these weak units some late game play, plus lore wise it makes sense
it still stands, the fuck the Skaven gonna do about it?
@@sladeswanson1013 skaven dlc with flying rats maybe? lol
@@sladeswanson1013 or thanquol magic spam?
No, cheap fliers would get blown away by its handguns long before they could ever churn through its 13k hp. It's silly how much damage it can put out even when attacked.
@@maxwhite4177 severe weakness to flying then maybe? like 5x damage. its a balloon, filled with gas, shouldn't take much to cut a few holes in it realistically speaking,
Ah yes I remember reading about air raids in WWII as well, glad to see a historic reenactment
What a disgusting unit, i think im in love.
I can imagine the enemy trying to catch the ground units as they run and the thunderbarges tear into them
This unit is so broken OP that it's not even that fun. It looks sick, don't get me wrong, but they're so busted.. they have practically no weaknesses, their hitbox is broken, their armour is insane, the ammo is near infinite, the repairs just make it immortal and the spear of grungni is the most broken ability that just covers their ONE weakness. The only way it dies is by focusing your entire backline on it for the whole fight, and pray that it uses the afterburners to destroy itself.
Imagine a 40 stack army of this one and the WW2 steam tanks from the other day, and you'll have a modern combined-arms doctrine army.
AFK army 😂
"the power of an air force is terrific when there is nothing to oppose it" - Winston Churchill
Hope it gets nerfed and a good one. I’m the last person to call for nerfs but this is just insanity
Finally the Dwarves have an “Oh, shit” unit. Flame cannons no longer have to do all the heavy lifting
I do hope it gets nerfed, it doesn't feel right when a unit is just so stupidly overpowered against everything
they gotta sell the DLC somehow lol
what's the point of nerfing stuff in single player, it's not like someone is holding a gun to your head, forcing you to use doomstacks
At this point you may as well rename the Lord to Firelord Ozai with all this firepower
I just love the Thunderbarge, it is exactly as described in the lore, above all with Malakai's faction.
The dwarfs got their own version of the AC-130 Spectre.
imagine instead of the endtimes we got its just the dwarves burning the world with their thunderbarges, like the godamn Fire Nation.
