John was cute here, I went to see polyester when it came out, I was 17 and loved it. I introduced a lot of my friends to John Waters films back in the 80's.
I love how, in America, when you actually need medical advice it’s locked behind paywalls and paperwork, but the minute a fat person goes out in public every doctor in a 5 mile radius needs to tell them they’re fat and will die
I’ve never seen Pink Flamingo and now after watching the special on the CBS Sunday Morning show, I’m really curious on where I could watch the film. Does anyone know how to watch this film? ❤✌🏼🥰
Letterman was the worst possible choice to interview these two hilarious and edgy artists. He always seemed uncomfortable around any men who were even remotely effeminate or different, and his fratboy comedy style always mocked these kinds of people, as if he and all other "regular" folk were laughing at them behind their backs.
don't see why the blue and gold label. makes me think boring sell-out CBS days. since I knew Divine's passing, it occurred to me this would be early NBC. eleven thirty central time, I was in Omaha then. old. season one, no band yet Andy Kaufman slap times
For my money, the titans of TV are Lorne Michaels and Dave Letterman. So original, so timeless, ‘70s SNL and ‘80s Late Night still hold up, still seem original. Most TV seems BS comparatively.
“To me beauty is looks that you can never forget, and I’ve walked down the street with Divine and seen car accidents happen.” 😂 love this man
"Beauty is looks that you can never forget". I need to remember that one.
They showed Pink Flamingos at my college and I've been a John Waters fan ever since. RIP Divine.
John has aged into a national treasure. Sad that Divine could not.
John Waters and Divine! John is a legend! RIP Divine ❤
I wish I could’ve experienced theatres back in the late 80s early 90s. John brings cinema alive just like David Lynch one of his heroes
The one and only John Waters. As for Divine? Need more be said? Damn glad they came along. The wild part in all of us owe them a heart-felt thanks.
That’s very well said! Thanks for that! ❤
Polyester is one of my all time favorite movies!
Same! I remember how awed I was when I experienced it. And it still kills me.
Hopefully Letterman continues to upload all his best content to his channel. I miss his daily shows.
Divine and John Waters are sooooooo awesome
Two of my favorite people.
There it is folks the days you could shock ppl late at night...miss those days
still can, just need a scary mask and a good scream

Can't help but notice Divine's rapid respirations. Probably the nurse in me :)
( im also a nurse ;))
Divine had just performed the song "Born To Be Cheap" right before the interview. Divine's probably still trying to catch their breath.
Yeah. He passed in 88, heart failure at 42. Geez.

John waters the 🐐
My favorite director!
Divine is who was the inspiration for Ursula in The Little Mermaid
Polyester is one of the best movies of all time.
Oh snap! Devine is an icon. John is like my creepy uncle that I idolize.
I saved my Odorama card from 1981. Good times.
I wish I still had my odorama card! I met Divine at the premiere of Polyester.

It's Ursula!

The criterion collection is awesome, it even comes with a barf bag
John’s dad doesn’t look any older than him in that picture
He looks so much like Robert Crumb.
Thank you - I've been trying to spot that for years! Bingo. 👍
These 3 are definitely Beautiful

Wild hairdo

Straight audiences didn't know what to do with them

As expected from Letterman: a mediocre hosting with an condescending attitude toward his guests (that he himself invited to the show).
Puke? In today's world, his movies are vanilla.
Is Divine the one who had a literal skeleton in her closet? Didn’t she kill a man or am I thinking of someone else?
You're thinking of Dorian Corey, not Divine.
@@traviscorwin4817 That’s the one!
Now a days we would have to say She
Divine never identified as a woman. He always said he was a man dressed in woman's clothing.
Nice try, Mr. Copy-paste-thoughts
Drag queens aren’t trans dummy
Divine was a man and always was a man. He even tells Dave he’s a man and not trans… cross dressing ≠ transsexualism
gone to soon miss you Divine.. you were the best...
