    I like John Waters. I always have. He is a good-natured man at heart, brilliantly funny (always!) and clever.

    Love John’s definition of ‘maturity’ & overall sense of humor! A *major* inspiration!!!

    Interesting to see how visibly these two did NOT get along, especially since they're both so skilled at connecting with a diversity of people. Now that we know about Rose's dark secret life, I can't help but wonder if Waters picked up on something "off" about him (besides the aggressive interrupting/talking over his guest).

      @racheljwallace 4 ปีที่แล้ว +6

      The interrupting! Every time John got a little deep or started saying something interesting, here comes asshole Charlie Rose to cut him off and tell him he's a gross weirdo, ha, ha.

      I have no idea who the interviewer is, but boy am I about to google the hell out of him. This interview was so hard to get through due to his constant interrupting.
      Edit: ahh okay, I remember hearing about this a few years ago. I didn’t realize this was him!

      Craig ferguson asked John if he was ever given the cold shoulder on a talk show, he said yes but wouldn't mention who. Seems pretty obvious now this is what he was referring to.
      But I mean john waters is a film legend and charlie rose is known as a serial groomer so I suppose providence actually does its thing sometimes

    I don't hate Charlie Rose. But I can't stand him here. I had to turn it off. He's not "in on the joke." He shouldn't try to be. Very annoying job by Rose here. He should learn to his place in the context of the person. Cringe. Love John Waters though!

    Thank you for uploading this. This is one of thee best John Waters interviews I've seen. Serious and to the point, and the interviewer avoids the usual standard "John Waters questions".

    It's crazy to see Charlie - who I think is a great interviewer (for the most part) - interrupt so harshly and with such little grace! The opposite is to be said about John, whose grace completely saved this interview. I love opposition and subversion in the same way I think Mr. Waters did here. So not a commenter, but I had to.

    Not sure why the interviewer is giggling to much about Dahmer's reasoning, that's exactly why he did it.

    • @VarnaVix
      @VarnaVix 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Yes. It sounds insane, because Dahmer was insane, but that was his motive. You can't expect a serial killer to be rational.

    • @andrewhernandez1509

    Interviewers: Allow your guests to answer the questions. Interrupting prevents the conversation from developing and drawing out more information. Let silence dictate the pace.

    It’s so hard for me to listen to two men talk to or interview each other. I can’t stand hearing people talking over each other. It’s so awkward and infuriating to me. Male communication styles are so...tribal.

      It’s not a male thing in general though and some interviewers can talk to and be silent and listen to each other. This isn’t how all men talk to each other

    Charlie rose is such an awful interviewer. Whenever the guest starts to say something interesting he's cut them off, and pivots to something completely unrelated and sensationalized. Can't watch anything by him.

    Rose does a poor job of being the interviewer here. Constantly interrupting and asking asinine questions "Would you direct another Hannibal Lecter movie?". He's not incapable of being a good interviewer, but his differences with Waters here (e.g. disagreeing on a murderer's humanity) distract him to a more base level, gawkery. Through that though John showcases again how America chooses to play stupid or genuinely doesn't understand "the other", which in this case is someone right in front of you
