Lucas Engine Oil Stop Leak | Can it Help Stop a Rear Main Seal Oil Leak?

- I use Lucas engine oil stop leak in my 1999 Chevy Silverado 1500 to attempt to seal up the rear main seal! Actually replacing the seal is definitely the best thing but it is a huge job so we are going to give this stuff a shot!
DATA
Week 1: Topped it off and it was 3/4 the way full
Week 2: About the same as week 1 but a tad better
Week 3: Same as week 2, doing pretty good
2 Months later: Pretty much like week 3, it has simmered on down.

Bro all we want is normal and straight forward info, this word is so chaotic and confusing but your video was awesome I understood everything thank you partner for passing on knowledge.
I drove to Florida from NY i was filling 1 quart every 150 miles until i got to South Carolina I saw a video of Lucas Stop engine leake put it in and drove 600 miles to Florida than 400 miles with in florida and then 1200 miles to NY and still driving no leaks it does work saved me stress .
Dang alright!!
Actually the rear main seal housing is also known to leak as well on the LS. If you ever pull the transmission out to do a rear main seal also replace the oil seal housing gasket. Unless you like pulling out transmissions.
Thanks for the info dude!
Thanks for this video, I’m having the same problem, I’ll definitely give it try on my truck.
Thanks 😊 man awesome video this helped a lot for my Chevy Tahoe
No problem 👍
Wouldn’t be a NBS video without the abs light on dash 😂😂😂
Neglected brake fluid does those pumps in. I replaced the pump and module and also change my brake fluid every 10k miles. 8 years no issues.
What happens if you just let the rear main seal leak? There’s not that much oil dripping. Is there any performance issue? Any reliability issue ?
I gotta keep topping it off every week lol.
When is on leaks more than yea is the rear end seal
Thinking about trying this in an older f150 I just bought. Minor minor leak on same thing. Hopefully this will help
Oh alright!
“No serious lights”
Brake light :
Yeah it just stays on for some reason lol.
@@IngenTechNationalWell, the truck does have 280K miles. Really nice regular cab. Warm my heart to see one still running.
I ran about 4 bottles through my 2007 suburban 5.3. Didnt help at all with rear oil seal leak.
This has help a little bit, obviously it won't fully seal it but it has slowed it down some though with my engine. I guess every engine and seals are different lol.
Any update two years later?
Well I changed the oil 3 times since and added Lucas Oil Stabilizer(not stop leak) and it seems to be doing alright, the stop lead did slow it down but only a little bit, so instead I switched to the stabilizer and it seems to be doing pretty good. I might try AT-205 next maybe.
Gonna put some in so it’ll stop leaking as much til I change out the seal
Oh ok, and I am gonna take mine somewhere soon to change it because on these LS motors you got to have special tools to do it properly other wise it will leak worse than the old one.
Any updates?
I have a rear main seal leak, tried this stuff, never worked, tried all products, non of them have worked.😅
One that I might try next is AT-205 because I heard some good things but idk we will see lol.
Any updates? on that rear main seal leak?
I got a 2002 Tahoe (219k miles) that's leaking from literally everywhere, valve covers, oil pan, rear main seal, front timing cover, oil pressure sensor, Absolutely everything is soaked in oil from the radiator to the driveshaft. I have to add a quart or more maybe every 3 weeks. Would it be pointless to use this with every seal being worn out?
Idk dude, I mean throw a few bucks at it just to see if it helps! Couldn't hurt! So far it is better.
Did it end up helping? I got a Tahoe the same generation with the same damn leaks 😂😂
@@jcmellymel Welcome to junk planet🤣
Sorry.........................🤔
@@andybilakshow260 it’s alright. Best vehicle I’ve ever owned so far. You can do many things with the car. Only thing I would change is to get the same year suburban
How to replace the seal or you'll be buying a new engine soon
Do you have an update from this product, I recently found out I have an oil leak from my 1996 ford mustang and I just want to make sure that this will work and was hoping if you have any sort of update?😅
Yeah it works pretty good! It has just kinda leveled out which is why I haven't really been updating it. But yeah give it a shot!
Have you tried Blue Devil? I have the same truck with the same problem and it didn’t seem to work that good. I think the problem is I switched to full synthetic
I haven't tried Blue Devil yet but I might in the future.
Blue Devil worked for me and my 154K-mile F-150 and I’ve been running Mobil 1 since I got it 4 years ago. It wasn’t a major leak yet, maybe that’s why. Just a few drops overnight.
I know a guy with a hot rodded 72 Nova and he runs Lucas Stop Leak instead of oil..never a drip from his car.
Oh wow that's crazy lol!
Do u have to put lucas again when you change ur oil ?
I am probably gonna do it!
That's a bad leak if you're topping it off every 4 days. Would've been nice to see you test other products as well. ( BlueDevil )
It is still leaking to this day but not as crazy, maybe once every week or two I top it off and it is 3/4 full. I might try that BlueDevil or AT-205 next.
True
He said no major lights on!
i be more worried about the 3 lights on your dash then a rear main seal
I have had no issues with them lol, it just comes on when a number comes up I guess so you would take it to the dealer and spend hundreds on unnecessary repairs lol.
I gt 4 on mine lol 03 silverado
I’ve replaced mine twice and both times it still leaks so I’m getting the Lucas stop leak stuff. Man it pisses me off lol it was installed correctly and everything! Idk. Definitely probably an operators error haha but still
Oh gosh! I have heard you have to have a special tool for it or something. This product isn’t really perfect but it does help!
@ yeah we were told that before the second time and used it and everything was good we thought haha I told my father in law (he is the mechanic and helped me build the motor and everything) that this thing is just cursed haha 😂
Dangg!
Keep us updated
I have a 32 year old 350 TBI that is leaking now I might pour something in it lol.
Alright hopefully it works!
At205 re-seal is the best
I'm probably going to give that a shot next!
@@IngenTechNational I have a rear main seal leak on my Acura MDX. It seeps a lot. I use at205 every other oil change and it keeps it in check. Not gonna replace a RMS on a 20 year old car
Alright!
@@IngenTechNationalwhy are you hesitant and procrastinate on trying at205 that has gotten more positive reviews than all the products

Well the leaking wo t stop. Just because of that. Stupid flag plate.other than that stupid flag. Yea lucas oil stop leak is good.
It did help but didn't fully stop it. The "flag plate" is the flag of the South, the war was about the North taxing the South making them have almost no money, being poor, and in poverty. It wasn't all about slavery, it was mainly rules and taxes.
