I had SaltX 6000 couple months and fished in south shore Long Island, and feel reel chattered when I reel in something last week but it went away later. When I went home, tried to open the reel cover but could not because I didn’t have right tool. What kinds (Size)of screws they used ?

My conversation with tsunami and their Engineer was told nothing wrong with using high pressure. Even the Engineer suggest using my Garden hose which has more pressure than my Kitchen Faucet. The Engineer says it's supposed to be sealed so pressure wash/rinse will not effect it.. The Plastic Ring has a crevice run all the way around that is small almost the thickness of a Hair so small sand grit lays inside this crevice so high water rinse is fine. Conclusion from the Engineer is a failure of A SEAL THAT HE FOUND and also that it was not fully assembled properly at factory. I will be putting a final video with screen shots of the faulure found by the Engineer. Plus audio recording of our conversation. Thank you for taking the time to comment.🎣
@Lun3y Arevalo it seems like an issue of Corporate sabotage.. Cause of our trade wars with China and or the companies we buy from are too cheap to hire someone at the production level to inspect properly! Also, I feel like these days to really keep your expensive reels in perfect condition requires a little no how of "servicing" them.. Sucks when you get a full on Lemon, but as I stated before they sent me a "New" one.. I'll post That video soon, trust, its hillarious.
@@OrthodoxFishingDAD Glad that you posted an honest review. Is it still worth buying? And as an engineer, can you recommend a better option? Or a work around with this model? Such as, simply removing the old grease and replacing it with a better one; that is before fishing. @@capecodcanal Greetings to you. I would not recommend the Salt X at this current production level. My first request would be for them to replace the Design of the AR clutch Plate. Tsunami uses the same Penn Grease that I use- when the Repaired my Reel the Engineer uses the same grease the Blue version - The internals are very well designed but the Machining of the parts are very sub pare and very much below quality standards. Conceptually the Salt X is a wonderful design and very similar to the Van Staal. - So with that being said, my only reliable choice would be the Van Staal.. - But uh oh- "rumors within the industry" is that Van Stall has been Acquired by another Larger Tackle Conglomerate. With that coming down the line... Let's talk Van Staal- Bottom Line if you are going the Van Staal route and you wanted Fully Sealed- By the VSX version ( get it soon before the swap components with the New Company running their operations)- dont by the VR version- the VR is water Proof not Fully Sealed. The VR is also a sign that the company is going with cheap - replaceable- components. I persoanlly own A VSX 250 and it's a beast of a work horse. It's heavy but to me it's perfect- I pair it with a St. Croix Legend Surf - 12ft Belize Blue - MF. when traversing Jetties, Rocks, Boulders, or just walking miles from end to end on the surf lines - the little weight and the feather light Rod makes for a great companion.- Funny story - last year I was testing the two reels my Salt X 6k alongside my Van Staal and a freaking shark took my Van staal and rod into the ocean i had to swim out almost 50 ft to retrieve back the rod and reel plus landed the shark and released! I tell this story because similarly the SaltX had a COWNose Ray take it into the surf when i retrieved it back - my sand issues started to show up- that was a down hill road after that where I just couldn't get the Salt X back to original conditions. Final Thoughts - Try to start searching only non China Made Reels - My go to is my Daiwa's - BG4000 - Ballistic LT 6000 - and my very light tackle BG 2500 - All these Daiwa's except for the LT is just regular work horses that have been dunked and have encountered sand with no issues - just a quick rinse and then at home cleaned and greased again - never really fully opened down to the gears- I only do gear work at the end of season in December. - Daiwa has a division that is Located In England- Also Daiwa Australia is very awesome. Those Aussie's down there are Very Hardcore with their surf and Jetty fishing! - Another choice would be main land Honk Kong - Malasia- Indonesia. You can ask for a different production area of your reels - just ask- sometimes certain Reels are only available in ASIA- but that doesn't mean it's not Available to you. - Send a PM to @tackle advisors also another cool guy is @beachbomberfishing - he has long cast videos and gear used for some pretty heavy surf fishing. At the end there are so many great Ideas on the YT - you just gotta go with a Budget and stick to what you want- I started out last year with a few simple request for my search of the right combination. I wanted Fully Sealed - I wanted the reel to have strong history - I wanted the reel to be a lifetime Investment at the time it was only the Van Staal - for rod I wanted the same quality - St.Croix stood out for it's price point - and solid Warranty - as well as it's proven track record of reliablity. - I work with a 11ft Team Daiwa MF as my back up rod to the St. Croix. Then i have mostly BG rods from Daiwa for light tackle stuff with my Daughters. My porgy videos with my Daughters show them using the Team Daiwa and BG 8ft. I hope that I helped more than confused you. Very nice reel, but just get a Penn Slammer (not the new 3) and be done with it an be sorrow free. My Penn Slammer 460 is 5 years old now and is used once or twice a week in saltwater (coastel or from a boat) for 3/4 of the year and it has not yet had ANY service what so ever and it is still just as good as when it was brand new. My son has a Penn Slammer 260 that is 4 years old and is used about 5 times a month for 1/2 of the year in saltwater and he has dropped it many many many times in the sand AND in the saltwater and it is still like new also without any service, we just rinse it with tapwater when home again.
