Very interesting. Thanks for the shout out. I look at what you're experiencing and it appears that the clutch seal failed. That white plastic ring is for the rotor brake so it's not gonna squeek unless the bail is open. The "deterioration" is normal. It's happened to other sealed reels I've had that bind up with sand and have to be dunked and flushed. Part of the game if you dunk in Sandy wash. The Sandy drag knob isn't an issue unless the setting changes when fish are pulling drag... (I had that problem with my zeebass reels). Now looking at the ar clutch location. It looks as if the cap wasn't fully tightened from the factory or the shop played with it. Water definitely imulsified with the grease (turned tan) and the rust is from the clutch cylinders which were exposed to saltwater. I've heard of one other failure this far but it might have been bogus. The gentleman returned the reel claiming it leaked but the shop said it was like new. (just called them asking about it before typing this (they were going to send it my way to inspect but someone bought it without caring) Let me know how you make out with tsunami. I heard they've had some serious website issues. So you may want to call. Shoot me an email at tackleadvisorsinitiative@gmail.com if you have a chance. Great vid and thanks for sharing.. (and the kind words in the first one)

I'm working with Bernies Tackle in Brookly to work out what's going on. Cindy fromTsunami said she would send me a new spool for part # 123 /128 line clip and retainer. But I still have rusting on my worm gear. So that being said Bernies sent the reel to Florida for inspection.. But the proof is in the putting. Cause I already proved that rust began in the worm gear with my videos. I love the reel man, I really do. Bought it on first day out and 2 days after your review. But I need the confidence in my mindset before I go out to Montauk for the fall. Thank you so much for your comment. I understood exactly what you are saying. I saw how the plastic portion was off-set and it was a concern, now I know how important it needed to be flushed and properly seated.

@Tackle Advisors.. Cameron from Tsunmai found the issue, It was a failed seal at the AR.. Couldn't explain why water is beneath at the gears, but non on top (Also no rust found even with Water found) Also said that the Brown Stuff is probably Burr Rag they used at factory. Also He found that some of the AR area was not tightened properly found it was loose. Asked if my video showed that I went that far in opening. I did not, I left the AR assembly intact.. So at the end I just got a Lemon and Cameron is gonna replace everything, even my handle.! Can't wait to get reel back.! P.S. My Daiwa Ballistic that you reviewed the LT 6000 Failed also, The Magseal failed being Warrantied by Trophy Tackle in L.I.

Correction: It's Not Rust.. It's Burr from the factory.. Still Bad Production Process... Information was from Engineer for Tsunami.

@Nick D quickly send in for a TAG.. they are extremely back ordered... Meanwhile they sending Warranty Replacements as "slightly off" productions.. The reels that The SHOPS return or are not satisfied with the "quality" look of the reel.. Basically our Warranty Replacement units are what ever they can send even if it's not Perfected. I received a "new" one that was an "Off-Production" piece.. The machining was horrible and whole bunch of other "quality" assurance issues.

@@nickd5105 it is what is, but yeah sucks cause if you sell it knowing it has flaws even though New, that's really being a piece of sh*t. It's pretty though sitting there in my cabinent.. it's going into my "when I travel" bag to fish over Seas or in other parts of the world... I find that as long as I dont get into water I'm fine.. I have my Van Staal for that! 🎣👍

This would not happen with a Vanstaal!

Not really my brand new vr 175 that I would rinse and wash all the time got rust in that same general area on the bearings inside after being used hard on the surf for only about 3 weeks idk maybe it was a flawed one

@@The_Striper_Hunt I heard the VRs are only about 90% seal and the VSX or 100%. Is that the issue maybe?

This product is made in China like Van Staal, but Van Staal is way better than SaltX. Penn USA >= SaltX China and ZeeBaaS USA >= Van Staal China.

@James Cabarr -- Well, as I've mentioned numerous times already that I have worked in Production and Manufacturing and all I can say is that - many products are "made in China" but not all products let the Factory dictate their production Quality- the way we control our Production and Manufacturing Guidelines is to have an ONSITE staff (Engineer) at the factory- we go through a 30 day rotation we spend 3 weeks and rotate in order to have time with family- some companies if asked would send your family with you so that you can stay longer. When we are at the factories.. we tend to take random samples and speak directly with the suppliers of raw materials and also inspect our raw materials... With all that said- bottom line is that when dealing with any types of "Metals" and "Alloys" as well as Machining- every step and every portion of the manufacturing must be dialed in. This is the case with Van Staal.. Some companies only get the Machining done and then the Assembly is done in the USA after yet again further vetting and testing when the parts arrive prior to assembly. NON of this I speak of is the Case in point with Tsunami Products Specific the Salt X. - I will never use a Tsunami Reel they have a long way to go- at least 5-8 more years of trial and error (but not on my Dime). Thank you for stopping by. P.S. did you know that DAIWA has a UK division that manufactures Separate from Japan? ... Specific to Australia clients..
