1965. I was 15. I was there. In the Studio Video Film in a place called La Sucrerie in Waterloo, Belgium. The VHS K7s didn't exist yet. I didn't know who I will see. But believe me, now I know who was Chuck Berry, the Father of the Rock & Roll. I met him, he gave me his picture with his signature and I had his guitar in hand. An incridible souvenir.
Chuck Berry was ahead of the time. It nice seeing the people that created what made rock music the way it is today. Basically these rifts are what made more complex ones to for example master of puppets.
Without chuck ...there wouldn't be any "Rock- n- roll!! No that's a serious issue! 1953 to the end of time !! Thank Mr berry. For introducing the real deal ... Rock n roll!
@@carterghhdjdjdjjdjdj1008 shortly after my comment the Elvis movie came out and I started watching a lot of old Elvis clips. Elvis in the late 60s was actually a different level. The 68 comeback special is maybe the coolest performance I’ve ever seen he had it all. Chuck Berry is the man though too. I can’t choose between the two now
I'm showing to my mother this phenomenon and as she is born in the 50's she's saying: oh, i hear Beatles. Oh, i hear Elvis. The real king, together with Little Richard and Jackie Wilson.
I feel so silly. I have heard the name chuck berry but had no idea who he was. I'd heard his music in movies but it never crossed my mind that it could have been a black artist 🫨 I'm learning so much in this History of Rock and Roll class
Part of what makes this such a great show is that he had a great Belgium jazz combo backing him up. Sound like he actually rehearsed with them before the show. If you listen to the live in Detroit show you can hear Chuck making mistakes and the performance is hurting. He had just gotten out of jail and played folk songs for the inmates. By 65 Chuck was coming back to claim his crown and took the time to make it work. Too bad he didn't stay with that mentality.
Mr. Berry was an incredible performer. The Beatles were great admirers of Chuck Berry, and they did an amazing cover of this great song as a tribute to him. (Actually, I prefer the Beatles version).

Was that Gene Vincent in the front row? There was a guy with a pretty snazzy hairdo rocking out in the front row and he kinda looks like Gene Vincent

What a fantastic entertainer and guitarist. That's Rock and Roll.
Chuck Berry was ahead of the time. It nice seeing the people that created what made rock music the way it is today. Basically these rifts are what made more complex ones to for example master of puppets.
Not near as complex as this
There's never been a better lyricist than this man. So clever, so witty.
At the top of his game, when his guitar playing was spot-on and crisp.
Chuck Berry never fails to make happy no matter how bad my day.
Legendary performance. Perhaps his best ever.
I love how early rock audiences are unsure of whether to clap of the on-beat or off-beat.
It's 2024. Europeans still don't know to clap on 2 and 4. 😂
I remember we were allowed to stay up for a "later" hour just to see Chuck Berry on TV
Without chuck ...there wouldn't be any "Rock- n- roll!! No that's a serious issue! 1953 to the end of time !! Thank Mr berry. For introducing the real deal ... Rock n roll!
The GREAT Chuck Berry.
Epic performance by the one and only, Chuck Berry.

FANTASTIC performance...by a REAL musician. Like John Lennon said: If they had to give Rock n Roll another name, it should be called Chuck Berry !
