    I have "essential tremor". Yeah, I can't get a decent doctor about it. Thank you for this info. I can totally relate to ALL of what you are saying, depression and everything! Not a drinker. Can't deal with Gabapentin.

      I don’t think they are very essential. They are more nonessential in that they prohibit me from doing anything that requires a steady hand.

    I've been wondering: why is it referred to as "essential" ?

    • @jasbrar8177
      @jasbrar8177 5 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      The bare “essentials” - no external cause. Idiopathic or ,,,, caused by normal. brain

      Because it is essential that the muscle is activated for it to tremor. In Parkinson's, the tremor is active when the muscle isn't being used.

      The other dude who replied is wrong. Essential in medical terms means unknown cause. Hence an essential tremor

    Help! I watched a long video ( I’ve watched most of your videos) and this one was quite long and it discussed many of the “other” tremors not just hand, voice but internal tremors etc. I CAN’T FIND IT AGAIN. I recall you saying this is going to be a long one and if memory (which is as you know affected) serves me it was about 57 min long. Thought I saved it but can’t find it. I actually broke down and cried half way through because I felt like “finally someone get’s it! I could even see a change in him as he watched it. I have just finished all the testing for DBS candidacy and (story of my luck) the day before the committee was to meet the pandemic caused all elective surgeries would be canceled so the committee did not meet. Your video did have so much impact on me that I actually called the neuropsychologist that did my evaluation (5 hours) and asked for a brief follow-up appointment to discuss his report/findings. Anyway,if any of this is sounding familiar I would appreciate the name or link to that video. I want to watch it again and forward to a few people as well. Thanks for all you do! Thank you so much. I'm educating myself and my granddaughter. We're having very frank discussions. I have had ET virtually my entire life. She also had relatively early onset, but milder tremors. Both my sister and I had mood symptoms where mood to go to Flashpoint in a second with no time to think it through. Propranolol gave us both breathing time, the ability to make a thoughtful decision. Adrenaline no longer was in complete control. I don't know if others have that same reaction. I'd like to know about that. Thank you again for caring. So many professionals dont.

    Does ET have an emotional component? When I am dealing with an emotionally charged situation it often seems exaggerated and includes tremors beyond what I usually experience. (I have not been diagnosed with emotional dysregulation or any related disorder.)

    • @wavywave8852
      @wavywave8852 4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      I am not a doctor (yet), but as someone who is diagnosed with ET I can reassure you that there definitely is an emotional component to this. Whenever I experience anything slightly emotional, my body gets out of control big time and it affects my entire body including my voice. I highly recommend seeing a doctor for this though. I am still moved by my doctor's reaction, and now I'm trying out meds. :) all the best to you!

      I can say as someone who has ET (as well as my brother and father), when we were at my father's funeral, sitting next to each other and of course very emotional, my brother and I had the worst shaking we've ever experienced! We also have CMT (Charcot Marie Tooth) disorder which is an inherited peripheral neuropathy caused my mutations in the genes involved in the myelin sheath around nerves. Wonder if anyone else w ET here also has CMT?

    I have had ET my whole life, and although I never had luck with the standard medication or even gamma knife brain surgery I was pretty good at hiding my struggle with tremors. I hated complaining or people feeling sorry for me, but now I am 35 and back at my parents dependent on them and with no idea what I will do when they die. It feels as though I succeeded in making my friends and even close family believe that my tremors are a "benign", but now I realize I really need help and for these people to realize how serious this is and that I am not just lazy.

    My son has a anoxic injury from a 15 minute hypoxic cardiac arrest and has ET. Cannot cut food and wondered if adaptive or weighted utensils are more helpful. Also so much help from you. Thank you. Everything you have mentioned he has challenges with. Diagnosed with LAS myoclonus and ST memory, less than one minute and unable to write. He has always been and still is motivated but neurologists now say to me...since its anoxic and 2 years post cardiac arrest nothing else can help memory, word loss and essential tremors. So I have become his historian and secretary! Thank you for taking your time to help us.

    I have little doubt you are well qualified to present the information. I enjoyed your sharing the latest research. Sorry for those who love and sell meat that there are negative health relationships to harmene and cooked chicken and beef that are so dramatic. I am an independant person and the vegetarian diet were all being told to follow in 2018 may indeed be the best advice we have at this time but I like fried chicken and steak. :( too. I can imagine how difficult this news is to the beef and chicken lobby. I did not miss out that you said the longer we cook the meats the greater the amount of Harmain.

      A. Not everyone has ET so eating meat for them is just fine. No need to bash the farmers
      B eliminated meat doesn,t help all with ET.
      C watching this vegan craze and their diet is horrific...terrible. Needs tb done very carefully. Eating lots of refined flour products, high sugar etc is awful.
