not necessarily. I'm in China Shanghai but stayed in Australia for three years and the people around me generally have a terrible sounding half-baked American Chinese accent rolled into one. I've only met two people in the whole of China that would be ruled by me into having a decent American accent. Me, I've stayed in Sydney for three years and I'm mostly the British accent but pronounce the vowels the American way, but I can do either thorougly. Personally I like the British accent more cuz it sounds a bit posh and dignified.

Funny thing. I'm a native French speaker. A the end of my studies (computer science) there was this event were a lot of companies were trying to make the students come work for them. They all made speeches and some of the English speakers were really hard to understand. Later a teacher pointed out the ones we didn't understand easily were all from the UK. It made sense, we were raised with American TV shows and movies so that's what we were used to.

In Taiwan, when we learn English, we learn the American accent. However, I went to learn English in Sheffield, England one summer when I was in college. That year is 1997. It just took me almost two weeks to finally understand "schedule" in English accent when my homestay hostess pointed to my schedule and said, "According to your schedule." By the way, at the language school, the English teachers always tried to "fix" our American accent. They really didn't like it.
The British are far, far more protective of their version of English than Americans are. American English teachers wouldn't correct your British accent if you had one.

American English is a rhotic accent, meaning we pronounce all "R"s even in the middle and end of words. England is considered "non-rhotic" where "R"s are dropped except for the beginning of words and cerain defined places. The interesting thing is that people in the Americans actually sound closer to what British English sounded at the time when the colonies were established. The modern British accent has evolved over the last 300 years to sound the way it does. There are also more variants in accents in the UK and Ireland than there are in the U.S.

I'm English and I love the American accent. It's rich and warm. What I don't like is British people using Americanisms to sound cool. American English spoken in a UK English accent just sounds silly.
It first came about because the Upper class started speaking in a posh way after the American revolution to differentiate themselves from Americans and the lower class.
I don’t say the t if it’s in the middle or end of most words. To me the British girl seems like she has a posh accent. I think it would be nice to show an American British accents that aren’t the typical posh one in the future

This accent is very common in certain areas of England. I am English and I am certain this is her real accent, if anything, girls with this accent often try to play it down a bit. She’s probably from Surrey or somewhere in London- google the accent
Personally I love American accent, I think British accent is hard to understand since they cut out sound and make vowels while speaking but American one is quite easy to understand. There is a problem with American English is you know, Slang, especially It is really hard for me to understand it, because most of the letters are cut out while speaking.
Being Australian, I can understand the British accent easily. The US accent is very well understood due to all the media; movies, tv shows, talk shows, etc.

In Taiwan, when we learn English, we learn the American accent. However, I went to learn English in Sheffield, England one summer when I was in college. That year is 1997. It just took me almost two weeks to finally understand "schedule" in English accent when my homestay hostess pointed to my schedule and said, "According to your schedule." By the way, at the language school, the English teachers always tried to "fix" our American accent. They really didn't like it.
The British are far, far more protective of their version of English than Americans are. American English teachers wouldn't correct your British accent if you had one.

I’m Japanese from Japan that immigrated to Australia so I’m not biased when I say that every encounter I’ve had with Brits were a bit rude and tend to talk trash about Americans for no reason. American English is a rhotic accent, meaning we pronounce all "R"s even in the middle and end of words. England is considered "non-rhotic" where "R"s are dropped except for the beginning of words and cerain defined places. The interesting thing is that people in the Americans actually sound closer to what British English sounded at the time when the colonies were established. The modern British accent has evolved over the last 300 years to sound the way it does. There are also more variants in accents in the UK and Ireland than there are in the U.S.

I'm English and I love the American accent. It's rich and warm. What I don't like is British people using Americanisms to sound cool. American English spoken in a UK English accent just sounds silly.
British kids grow up watching US TV, so everyone kind of mixes and matches different words and prononciations from US and UK English in their speech.

This accent is very common in certain areas of England. I am English and I am certain this is her real accent, if anything, girls with this accent often try to play it down a bit. She’s probably from Surrey or somewhere in London- google the accent

Personally I love American accent, I think British accent is hard to understand since they cut out sound and make vowels while speaking but American one is quite easy to understand. There is a problem with American English is you know, Slang, especially It is really hard for me to understand it, because most of the letters are cut out while speaking.
Being Australian, I can understand the British accent easily. The US accent is very well understood due to all the media; movies, tv shows, talk shows, etc.
It's the opposite with this South Indian, here 😂.
