Does anyone ever make ships meant to ram into and simply blow up enemy ships?

Some people do, however in survival it is an expensive strategy and one me and the guys find less fun as we enjoy space combat.
However in part 3 we have FF-5 "Reliant", an R-Class frigate modified for ramming.
