All the stories about the noble space marines, the ceaseless hordes of chaos, filthy xenos, all of it is for this. To flavor and shape the world that tremors and quakes in haunted shadows and overpowering might in the eyes of us, the lowly men and women of the imperium fighting and dying just for another day, another moment. Praise the God Emperor, may he save us all. Praise Vox, may he remind us why we fight. Grandstanding aside, thank you Darren Davis and you too Vox, for this
The noble space marine fights so that the mere men and women of the Imperium needn't. But they must never forget that they serve and protect, not rule. That they were once mortal, that they should know what they fight for. That is the difference between them and those traitors who cower in the terrible eye. It is the duty of *all* sons and daughters of the Emperor to fight as one, so that our foes die divided.
And what does that gain you? A galaxy of unnecessary pain and suffering which only ends in death for no other reason than to grease the war machine with your blood. There will always be another battle, another horrible way to die for nothing. Your corpse on a pretty chair is just that. One more wasted life. What aid and relief can a corpse provide? Grandfather loves all his children. His gifts are blessing and panacea. A release from pain and sorrow and torment. Grandfather waits for you.
The Commissar BLAMming some hapless conscript for supposed cowardice is often a punchline for 40K fans, so it’s quite sobering to see how that situation plays out in a drawn-out, realistic way. I applaud Mr. Davies and, of course, Vox for bringing this grim tale to life.
Something akin to the meme only actually happens in the most dire situations where a precedent must be set: That running, in that particular case, is akin to killing your fellows because of your absence.
WRONG. your entire world is in danger, not just one continent. You aren't just fighting for your city, you're fighting for your world, especially if it's orks.
"COMMISSAR, I WISH TO DECLARE THE ANCIENT RITES OF 'NEW YEAR, NEW ME!" The soldiers lower their weapons and look expectantly to the man in the high collar. "Denied." Comes the reply, dripping with disdain.
Vox is full of suprises! I felt like I was looking through the eyes of some poor shell-shocked pdf guy as he tried in vain to comprehend his situation, and that ending....pure genius!
Damn, I thought the orks were going to be bad. Great work on the transitions from the calm before the storm, the battle, aftermath, and ending, made a 20min video feel like a full length movie.
A window into the grim lot of far too many Imperial conscripts, and a grimdark start to the New Year. Let's make it a bright one here in the real world. Excellent work as always, Vox.
Excellent story! Great representation of the grimdarkness of the far future! It's nice seeing the PDF getting some attention. Thanks for sharing, Vox and Darren!
Without the PDF many Imperial would have fallen prey to the horrors of the Grim Darkness Of the Future, and these brave men and women deserve the respect of warriors and defenders of the Imperium.
I recently discovered that one of my friends likes to listen to wh40k lore videos while in bed. We shared a common love for Luetin, and now for Vox too. I recommended "I am" and "Abomination" as they're my favorites and he loved them. Thank you for creating such amazing stories to be shared with my friends.
Good story and awesome Narration as usual. I have been listening to almost all your stuff over weeks. Wish you the best of luck with whatever you are planning in the new year🎉
Then first ork through the wall "it is huge"......this is likely a standard cannon fodder line breaker boy. I don't know if these soldiers even met a nob or anything approaching a Warboss.
@@AVoxintheVoid so you guys are a double team? Your Pox Walker story is one of my all time favorites. The narration and audio effects you added are really next level! Your videos are the good standard of 40k story telling!
Im still holding out for (The Glorious Tomb) Vox you did that story so well. It was on par with (At The End). Please do a re upload, at some point. It was a masterpiece of work.
Man it's been awhile but your still putting out the best 40k stories. I would be cool if ya could one hr plus videos. I understand they don't get as many views as shorter videos but I like much longer ones
I really do appreciate all of your stories 40k, Japanese WW2 horror, the whole shebang. Thanks for your work. You've had a couple recordings I wanted to do a lip sync to especially your rendition of horus announcing his power over chaos. Maybe one day I'll have the animation skills to match your vocal skills
The incomprehensible horror of this is realizing that this kind of thing probably happens millions of times across the imperium.. and how little or much a single soul can matter. I don't think there are many genres that are as dystopian as Warhammer, however, being so large there are also stories of goodness in the Imperium as well.
I felt bad for him until i relistened to story. Jerod freaked out and abandoned his comrades. As understandable as his fear might be, the others held their ground and drove off the Orks no thanks to him. Its no wonder he was executed for cowardice. If everyone followed his example the world would have no chance of repelling the Orks. He might think hes just some truck driver and this is none of his business but his planet is facing an existential threat. It most definitely is his business to defend it.
They used stub rounds for executions? Wouldn't it make more sense to kill them with a laz rifle, since its powercell could be relatively quickly recharged and the shots themselves wouldn't cause too much bloodsplatter, if aimed at the torso on lower "heat" setting, resulting in quick, but lethal wounds that would be cautrize. Or am I missing something?
Another masterful work. I only wished this PDF guys realize that if the enemy doesn't kill you, your superiors might and/or will. So why not abandon all hope and just go out swinging? Hell, you might have a lucky face. Well done.

Just some kid who wanted to be a truck driver and ended up fighting a horde of unstoppable monsters. This made me relize how scary orks can be.
It's awesome to see the perspective of a lowly conscript to bring home just how throne-damned awful their lot is! Amazing stuff!

We need a one shot about Gav and Bob being conscripted for the war, their first time would be awesome.
I almost felt like I was Jerod... poor guy. Another awesome reading and story. Many thanks!
God, what a title. The moment of clarity that ending gave me was downright sobering.
