- Witness the desperation as Augur Void station JUF-D19/Rimward faces their impending doom in the form of Hive Fleet Cicatrix.
I am hugely thankful to a few people,
First of all let me mention the incredibly talented Paul Takahashi for allowing me to use his artwork for this piece. Such an evocative work of art. Please visit his site linked below.

Secondly let me extend a huge thank you to 'Hateberg' one of my subscribers/members. It was his idea for me to narrate this piece and hopefully I did the writing justice.
Enjoy my second Halloween special Brothers and Sisters.

That feeling when you realize the Tech Adapt noped out when they realized what was going to happen.
You think so?
Whenever you see a fan say "Tyranids are not scary, interesting, nor do they work narratively" you tell them to shut up and read this excerpt or listen to this video.
and this is why we overload the reactor when nids are close enough
Yep because 💯 fates worse then a quick death!
Good man.
I was waiting for them to do that the whole time.
If you have a reactor to overload
Do void stations have reactors?
"We're going to be boarded!"
Oh, honey, you WISH that's what's going to happen...
I mean, in a way, they were definitely boarded. Acid breaches hull of the station, and then the flesh eating armored leech creatures. Wouldn't you say? 🤔
@@BloodySawBlade Those are technically a boarding force, yeah.
Here i thought being boarded by tentacle monsters was more of a 2nd millennia thing.
You are technically correct. The best kind of correct.
Man. No one had a laspistol to pass around? That ssuuuuucks...
Damn. I'd say the Black Library should hire you, but you deserve better.
Dammable eldar and their black library!
I disagree as they'll do to him what they did to the Astartes guy which is simply give him a check to not make anything unless they say so. This is better
Yeah, that's why I said he deserves better.
@@unatco6554 GW doesn't want anyone making money off WH unless they are getting it. Greed is strong with GW.
Damn. Enough said 👌💯
If you ever find yourself in the 40k verse. Remember, always have a bullet with your own name on it
This is what happens when humanity forgets the recipe to bug spray.
They don’t have the STC
A grey knight dual wielding bug spray
Or hairspray and a lighter.
Ankum: "Sereen... Sereen, there's something I need to tell you... I ate your donut that one time, it wasn't Korday."
Sereen: 'they'll take your balls first for that'
Kryptmann was kinder than we thought.
I'm glad I waited until it was dark and I was walking through the woods to listen to this, I nearly shit when I came across a racoon.
I love reading comments like this nick!!
Gene-stealers... trash-stealers... pretty similar bro I'd be careful in those woods.
A necroon
Hahahaha😂
Hive Fleet Trash Panda!!! 😱
It’s so gruesome and real you truely portray the darkness of the 40k universe like no other bravo Paul FANTASTIC work
I'm just trying to bring the grim dark back...😜 Thankyou so much Sean, means a lot to me to read this
Brutal
@@AVoxintheVoid I suddenly want to see a massive Borg Vs Tyranid war as each Hive tries to devour/assimilate/consume the other collective.
@@AVoxintheVoid thank you for that btw
The worst and most horrifying thing about all of it is there is no malice in the swarm's actions, it's all pure animal instinct to feed and consume.
Nope. A librarian (ultramarines I think) once managed to look into the hivemind for a split second. He realized that it perceived him prying into the mind, and it HATED him. The sheer hatred blasted him with so much psychic power it almost killed him.
Personally I decide to ignore those isolated bits as unreliable narration because giving the Tyranids emotion ruins their alien-ness.

That's when you need a self destruct button
nah. you need several self destruct buttons...
Holy crap! I've read this before! This story was written by Robbie MacNiven and it is actually Chapter 5 of 'The Last Hunt' a BL novel about a battle between the White Scars and the Tyranids (it is a very good book). Excellent production as always, Vox. A perfect grim dark narration for Halloween, well done!
It's a truly horrific piece of writing. It was suggested to me in the discord and I just couldn't refuse the opportunity to bring it to life
Yes, it is. Robbie writes solid 40k novels and I've enjoyed all of the ones I've read. Now I am curious, though: Does this mean you will be narrating official 40k works again?
I won't do full books etc but maybe the occasional cheeky chapter might slip by...
The Tyranids do have a Lovecraftian quality! 🐙👻☠
I more thought of them as xenomoph-esk
I think they have that cosmic quality, like the locust plague of Egypt,
They have been loosed in numbers beyond reason, they are ceaseless
I definitely felt the gripping, unending, suffocating horror and terror. No way out, so it's death by Nid stomach acid and armored flesh-eating maggot-leech things THAT SWIM IN SAID ACID?
Yeah............no. 😱😱😱
no matter what horrors the warp or drukhari can throw at you, the tyrannids are terrifying from a primordial level
like no matter how many guns you have IT WILL NEVER BE ENOUGH
also the drukhari and warp spawn are still, at least to an extend, humanlike.
the nids are just hungry bugs. _big_ hungry bugs. there is no talking with them. their only motivation is food. it is a swarm of biomatter eating anything it comes into contact with.
Honestly I would prefer the quick death at the hand of the tyranids as opposed to the centuary long torture at the hands of the Drukhari
I listen to this every few months to remind myself how it's really not too bad on holy Tera.
And this is why i think the nids make the xenomorphs look like a kids show
This story is the epitome of Shocked Side-Eye expression and I love it, like >.>😳
Take heart. The beast expended far more energy the devouring of the Auger Array's tiny crew then it could ever gain by eating them.
Of course a quick las-bolt to the brain, or perhaps a trip out the air lock would likely be a preferable fate.
Doesn't the station have a self destruct? Lol. Death would be quick and also spiteful towards the devourer. Better than waiting to be eaten
Jokes on you, the oxygen...the bacteria, the minerals of the stations metals. All edible
...it ate the entire thing it, the nids gained a net worth of minerals from the stations metals alone .
@@blazednlovinit probably only the tech priest could activate it
God emperor….. this is pure nightmare fuel….. ever time I hear this story I just get ridiculous vivid images of what is happening especially towards that end most cruel. As always, stellar work!! I love this channel.
It will be another great narration, whenever there are tyranids involved, u know it's gonna be awesome..... And gruesome
Couldnt agree more..would kill to have him work with brother baldermort to do a long version of flesh tearers vs the nids..uncertain primaris think theyve been left for dead by cackling first borns only to see just a few chevrons appear on their hud..*The Sanguinary Guard* and *Gabriel Seth* himself descending into th midst of the hated foe..all primaris instantaneously roaring and leaping from their trenches to save their lord who moments ago they thought hated him
@@ChillAssTurtle oh u r talking about that story he did in the Gabriel Seth vid right?
That was so excellent. Truly horrifying and grotesque without overdoing it. Well ✅
Thankyou Benjamin! I'm glad the true horror of this piece didn't come across forced. What a terrifying way to go...
The Tyranids are cosmic horror, and they are my favorite, I wish there was more likes this😊
same, its just a shame that every encounter is just evreything kicking the crap out of the nids like they are a puppy. I wish we had more stories like this about the nids.
Some fates are worse than death….
Fated to wait for death in the bowls of a Goliath,
to be eviscerated slowly surrounded by the screams of the emulsified,
to cry out in turn for help yet doomed to be drowned in the ichor of damnation,
knowing…
deep down,
you are 1 in a billion souls singing in a choir of desperation,
And there is nothing you can do to escape deaths warm embrace,
And there is nothing you can do,
except Wait.

I’m not much of a poet but damn that was a grim dark way to die.
A really gripping story and though their fates where sealed I had to listen, no matter how much it horrified me, I had to know.
Excellent reading and production your story telling is at a flipping amazing standard.
Amazing comment pipes. I'm humbled when one of my narrations elicits a response like this. Thankyou sir!
That was so romantic
That was Grim and Dark,
Just the way I like it 🙂
@@AVoxintheVoid I was on the way home when it premiered. I stayed in my driveway to finish it listening absolutely locked in. Great story and you were on point as always.
I swear to the emperor i am so happy i found this channel. These horror stories are easily better than ANYTHING i have read from warhammer horror novel sets. and I have read hundreds of novels. The narration is perfection. You can almost feel their terror. This is fantastic im only sad that this doesn't have more views. As a short story omg its perfect this be published in one of those anthology novels they like to produce.
And I'm super glad you've made you're way here too! I have a lot of horror style stories on the channel (it's my favourite genre after all!). I recommend "All the Gods are Dead" or "Abomination" 🤘
The anxiety-inducing music really ties everything together
This is my bedtime story while I'm at work.
I'd rather face any other xenos than a tyrannid, you captured the essence of the horror.
Well children, this is exactly why you self destruct the station before the Nids swallow you.
Your getting better and better! The ambiance was perfect. The creaking of the ship gave me chills.
Thankyou Steve! I spent a long time trying to get the ambient mix on point and I'm glad you noticed it 🙂
This is 40k! Dying in a metal tomb by alien 👾 horror's. This was great!
Still spooky the second time listening to it! You just have the voice for it.
Oh god imagine the stench of that things stomach acid flooding into the station along with the rest of the slosh... how wretched.
I like how the tyranid bio ships look kinda like a big necromorphed version of a Leviathan from mass effect. Really makes a encounter with em horror story worthy.. I thank anyway
HOLY MARY MOTHER OF GOD……….. my mind was gripped on the edge of horror so fantastic and vivid I lost track of Time…. Absolutely badass Vox. Subbed and notes turned on
I was about to have lunch, and I quickly glanced at my phone and I thought it said 'Flesh Noodle' there for a moment 💀
A Tyranid story is always a treat for me. By far my favorite faction, yet also the one I have the hardest time finding content on. And yet, of all the Tyranid stories I've managed to scour through, this one is by far the most unique in its portrayal of the horror of the hive. Not as an endless swarm of gaunts and spores and bio-titans, but as a singular beast so massive that fighting it feels like a delusional dream. And even as it drowns you in its stomach acid and what passes for stomach bacteria, you can't help but know that you weren't really even large enough to be called a snack. At best, you and your crew might have been a single potato chip it happened to notice and pick up while it was passing through. The sheer sense of hopelessness as we listen to the crew watching as the hive ship approaches them is overwhelming. You want to pray to the Emperor for a miracle, and yet you feel like there's no power in all the galaxy that could possibly save them from this fate. I absolutely love it. I love tales of the Great Devourer, and this is definitely the Devourer at its greatest.
also the constant hope that is still there. the constant thought that maybe they will live, only for their situation to become even worse.
Maybe this is the tyranid equivalent of drowning your food in ketchup
Even Slaneesh is asking the Nids to just turn it down a notch, there’s enough & there’s a little too much
Ohh, that was *aggressively* 40k. 11/10
Thankyou Caleb. I always try and create something a little darker to really punch home the grim dark.
Nids: Nightmare fuel.
What an atmospheric piece.
Right, where are those clean trousers?
This is the first piece of horror fiction in a long time that actually gave me chilld
Quite splendid; I am feeling quite inspired for this weekend's hobby projects!
... My Swarm will grow once more~
Someone shared this story on Reddit years ago, but you brought it to life brilliantly!
you would think they would have a big red explodey button
Here just to say: WOW!!! The horror is magnificently well managed!! The effects, the music, the tone of voice! LOVED IT ALL!! Congratulations on another masterpiece!!
You're the best David! Enjoy the rest of this spooky month sir!
This was the perfect listen for October. Absolutely terrifying being in that Auger station.
Thankyou kindly sir. Yeah when this piece was recommended to me on my discord It was a no brainer to narrate this for the spooky month
This is such a nauseating death grip of a tale... one of the best you've ever done. Pure apprehension and terror...
Came back to listen to this and it still gives me the absolute chills and terror to listen. That last portion….. I could see
The dispare and the hopelessness of it all….. this narration is something to behold. Amazing work as always 💪🏼💯
Damn! That was brutal! Great production and narration.
Thankyou so much! I absolutely loved narrating this piece!
This was great, best warhammer content creator on youtube right here. My face was 😮 the whole time listening to this.
Thankyou for the kind words my friend!
This one... this was and will always be my favorite one
Wonderful performance!
Had to relisten to this one for the season. Badass horror story
So glad you decided to keep the 40k content coming. You have every right to do so, fuck em. Not to mention your immense talent for the art. Excellent as always.
Cheers buddy. I will try and mix it up throughout the next year with other interesting IP's but nothing hits like the grim dark that's for sure
@@AVoxintheVoid
Not gonna lie the little series about the Ogryn, Bob and the other poor fella... that one got me. Right in the heart guts lol Are these all short stories you're narrating from BL or is some of it stuff you're writing? Sorry, I'm sure you've explained this before somewhere
I would say 99 percent of my work is fan written. I usually source out the material or writers contact me and I narrate their work.
@@AVoxintheVoid that's even more incredible. You're a living Saint. Thank you for this wonderful contribution to the community.
I feel bad for had lost the chance to hear it in when it launched, there is something you always lost when you don´t watch it that way, time is short ATM, will have to hear this in pieces.
That was so dark! I loved it! 😊
And now I have to get back to work with this fresh in my head THANKS (really though excellent video)
I'm sorry, how the hell have I only just found your channel?! The story had me on the edge of my seat! I can't remember the last time an official 40k novel did 🤯 I'm looking forward to exploring this channel further
Hey Tommy! Glad you found your way here! Can I ask how you came across the channel? All the best
As overplayed as the word is, this is really compatible with grimdark theme of the setting.
I had decided to save this for my morning commute instead of listening to it's premiere. I'm glad I did, I don't know if I would have been able to sleep last night if I was here for the launch
My work here....is done
I did exactly the same and it was the right choice.
Perfect again!🥰 maybe next time the hive ship will remember to chew first. Never good to swallow it down so quickly.
A voretastic experience, props to the narrator !
Actually I am coming back to this because I want to write the sequel.
Ya know Vox, your narrations, in my opinion, are top tier. But DAMNIT man, I know if I listen to your stuff I am going to be saying shit like " oh my God" or "holy hell" or even making a face like I just watched someone be shredded in a chipper. That was gruesome. Great work.
* shudders
Thankyou my friend for the compliment. My passion does lie in the darker side of story telling...you should read some of the books I read in my spare time, would put these dark tales to shame...
Holy...molly...A worthy entry for spooktober :)
This would make one hell of a Fan animation.
That was disgusting.
I loved it.
This is a marvelous upload for this particular month
Thankyou Lorentz, I planned three horror themed uploads this month, this being the second one.
Well, that is all of the nope right there...
That's why you keep a laz pistol on deck so you can atleast go out quick and not get dissolved in acid or eaten by tyranids
I'm not into the 'nids, but dang, this was excellent! 👍
Well. Okay. You outdid your Lullaby video for this one. I am temporarily afraid of water now thinking about the ending and the streams. Okay then.
In some dark mirror realm of the multiverse this is BBC Radio 4's 'Play for Today' and it's listeners are currently throwing up their lunches, looking for a fresh pair of trousers or hurling themselves out of a window. Good grief that was utterly dreadful! Anything Tyranid makes the alien franchise look like Rugrats. Great production, so atmospheric.
Genuinely incredible
That was horrifying. Beautifully done sir. And with that, i require more. A subscription easily earned.
Was really disappointed when all I could find of this was done by AI voice.
Thanks for your work bringing this wild scene to life with your great reading voice. Really appreciate the effort for the fandom.

That was intense! Amazing job on this!

urgh... beyond unsettling... my tummy turned a few times... mixed feelings... gw should hire you...
This channel deserves far more attention and praise 👏
Appreciate it Mike! It's growing slowly but surely but I'm glad to have supporters like yourself!
If the Tyranids where running from something else... What could be worse then them.
Long time listener. Love all yr work, this one gets me everytime. The ambiance and even the name it adds up to a work of art. I wont say its my favorite only because yr work is so good i love too many to choose favs

BRRRROHHHH.... this one is intense AF
Excellent, kinda feel the Tyrnids are overpowered!
I guess I will have to wait an extra day to watch this most anticipated video as work in the camp will keep me busy for the rest of the day. So I will leave this comment and like the video and hope that all goes well with its premiere
Excellent listening material for painting the nids 👍👌
That was so horrific you really did a good job on this on👍
Many thanks Tyson. Such a dark piece of writing...had to do it!
With how fast the acid takes you, being boarded might actually have been worse...
Commenting for support.
Keep em comin glad to hear this
Thankyou kindly chaos! The messages definitely seem to help with the machine spirit (algorithm) of TH-cam
This was so well done. I have the chills as we speak. You don’t need a context to be embraced by the story. If you knew nothing about Warhammer, the brief descriptions give the listener an idea of what’s going on… and what’s about to happen. WELL DONE!
