    I've been jumping for a couple weeks. The alternate foot step has turned out to be more difficult than I thought it would be, especially at a slower pace. Practice, practice, practice!!

      Have you mastered it yet? I'm slowly getting there.

    • @EHowerow

      I've found the Boxer Heel Tap to be more challenging. At least in the Alternate Foot Step both of your feet stay on the same horizontal plane. But I still haven't mastered the Alternate Foot Step.

    After a lot of frustration and throwing my rope against the wall a few times(!!), I finally smashed it thanks to this tutorial! Broke it down very well, and the best explanation on utube. Thank you- now for that boxer step!!!!

    Great tutorial. I used to love jumping rope; but thanks to Peripheral Neuropathy in my legs and feet I developed muscle nerve damage which makes it extremely difficult and virtually impossible for me to jump up with both feet simultaneously. However I am able to do the alternate foot step; but have never been able to jump rope using it. So I am going to keep trying to learn it.

    I don't know why but I learn the differents techniques for jumping the rope in a very natural way, maybe it's because I used to JUMP the rope a LOT when I was a child
    By the way, yours tutorials are so amazing! You are a very good instructor!

    I’m keeping close the ground in the basic bound but when I try this one my “lifted” foot always start moving up and forward and backward more like a rocking horse movement. If you were watching my feet from the side view it would look like I was running in place. Of course the rope gets caught in that high foot. Any tips for getting rid of that?

    What's the difference between this step and boxer step?

    • @Crossrope
      @Crossrope  7 ปีที่แล้ว +4

      The alternate foot step is just alternating your feet while you jump whereas the boxer step is doing the same, but you are moving side to side.

  • @richardtan3788
    @richardtan3788 4 ปีที่แล้ว

    Do you lift the planted foot first before you step down with the raised leg? I had knee surgery before and when I went running. I trained myself to plant one foot before raising the other. I guess doing it slowly at first would be the best way to do unlearn/learn mechanics.

  • @sneakapeaka
    @sneakapeaka 7 ปีที่แล้ว +6

    I just got the ropes today and I'm new to this, and I haven't gotten the rhythm yet. For some reason I keep swinging my legs back too far. What would be the best way to jump for beginners other than the traditional jump?

    • @nn.4410
      @nn.4410 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      feet front to back is pretty simple

    • @sneakapeaka
      @sneakapeaka 7 ปีที่แล้ว

      It is simple, just not something I'm used to.

    • @Crossrope
      @Crossrope  7 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      It's okay if you swing your legs back too far when you start. Just try to slow your jump down and switch back and forth between legs. Other than that, whatever technique you can use and improve consistency is best for a beginner. It varies from person to person, but the skills will build on each other as you practice

    Holy Shit ! Thank you so much for breaking this up like this I am able to understand it way better. I been boxing and I havent jump roped like foreva after 4 days I can easily do continous for 3 min. The basic 2 feet jump.
    Now I have to train this and do this continously for 3 min. Its hard to do it when Everyone around in the gym make it look like a walk in the park while sipping green tea easy.

    hey, is it possible to send you a video of yourself attempting to do this and getting some corrections? Even possibly a live help session? Been trying to do this for months but constantly messing up and often get terrible shin splints. obviously would be paid, just feel really held back by not being able to do this and honestly super frustrated. I don’t really want to sign up for anything, just want some real-time help and feedback.
