hey there.. have you got any tips on how to get started with jump ropes when you're an injured OOOOOOOOOOLD man (39). due to skateboarding and bmxing most of my life i now have to use a cane while going for longer walks, too long of a walk and my knees give up anyway and i can barely stand up / walk back home. any ideas? blew my knee out while jogging (on ephedra) about 20 years ago and have been struggling ever since. love your channel btw. /sue
Jump rope has been a staple of mine for over 20 years now. I can say with confidence that it's a major contributer to why i can still train at a high level at 51 years old
I do a lot of skipping for fitness and since starting in 2020 during lockdown I've never felt fitter and it's helped in my martial arts training. The channel that got me into it is The Jump Rope Dudes, I'd highly recommend them. Another great channel is Rush Athletics, he has a wealth of great videos, drills, skills and tutorials.
IT's like you knew I just bought a jump rope off amazon. Perfect timing and much appreciated advice on getting started. I was also confused with how long the rope was when I got it.
I recently pulled my jump rope out so I can train in the morning, when I don't have time to run. Sweet serendipity! Thanks for a very clear, understandable, and actionable tutorial, Grant!
OK this is a bit weird but i ordered a beginner jump rope off of Amazon and it came TODAY and now this video pops up in my youtube feed! I haven't even watched the video yet but I am already stoked! thank you! - ok now i watched it that was fantastic! thank you, Grant!
I think rope flow would be a nice skill for both Adam and Grant. I suggest the 'way of the rope' channel for the start and 'Alpaka flow' for the advanced patterns.
And it's obviously very easy to pack for workouts when you're on the road for work or vaca. Try nine 3-minute rounds rotating through sit-ups, push-ups and air squats between. Another good one is "Wounded Knee" which is 200 skips followed by 10 kettlebell snatches each side > 200 skips 9 each side and just follow that ladder finally down to 200 skips and 1 kettlebell snatch each side.
I love that exercise. However, I can't do it consistently because of the ankle pain the comes with it. Is there anyway to overcome that or is it just a matter of time/patience?
I’ve been practicing for the last month and I still trip after like 20 seconds. Viewing a recording of myself I notice that the rope moves and arrives at my feet before my right side making me trip. I think it’s because my left arm/wrist/hand is trying to compensate being less dominant. I guess I still have to keep practicing.
Personally I find it helps me with my running quite a bit. Makes me lighter and more bouncy on my feet which in turn makes me a bit faster, which at 93kg is really helpful.
It really depends on what else you're doing. Now I'm weightlifting so this is just fatigue without carryover, back in my martial arts days this was a necessity.
nice video thanks a lot! This maybe gets me into jumping rope again. Did Grant Stevens bulk up and evolved into his second form known as "Grand" Stevens or is it just the muscle shirt that suits him well?
hi, I have a question about the superfunctional training program 2.0. I'm running the program with the split recommended but for some necessity now I can train only 3x a week, can I still run the program with maybe some variations? Thanks
love jump rope, but i got a minor pulled muscle in my soleus (calf) muscle. Never had that before and it takes a lot longer time to recover from than tendonidis or the likes. how do you think i can get the fastest back on my tippy toes (i do everything in barefoot shoes too, walking 15-30 k steps a day even with the injury (my job))
Difficult to tell with the clear rope - where does your rope contact the ground in relation to your feet? When I try letting mine contact the ground out in front of my feet, it tends to bounce off the floor and catch on the bottom of my feet. When I try letting mine contact the ground underneath my feet, it tends to catch on the ends of my toes on the way down. Besides location, should it be held high enough that it's barely be contacting the floor, or should I be a bit lower and hitting the floor with more force on the way through? TIA for any tips you can offer.
This sounds as if your rope is too long man, the rope should contact the ground relatively underneath your feet as you bounce. Instead of holding it higher, shorten the rope
I can't understand how someone who adopts such a no bs attitude to fitness like Adam, collabs so much with Grant who gives out terrible and disproven nutritional advice
I haven't made a nutritional video for absolutely years bro, and a lot of my knowledge has evolved since then. But congrats on judging and discounting someones entire expertise and skillset upon one aspect that you disagree with 👍

@@kamesthenicsI agree with everything you’ve said here and I actually like the rope I use in this video better than my Title Speed rope

Nice, just found an old jump rope laying around and then this pops up. Synchronization of the universe.
😂 the universe is telling you something.
I love it when stuff like this happens ❤🎉
Or the TH-cam data collection system is pretty good
Do your thang! It’s all laid out for ya
Nah just god😊
I picked up a weighted rope on Adam's recommendation and it has helped me remain fitter than my students well into middle age. Thanks, mate.
I love this channel. No bs just straight to the point and so full of useful info
Super timely for me. Just started a new martial art class and they use jump rope for part of their conditioning. Thanks for this. Cheers

Thank you!
Excellent video
Thank you from Southern California.
Great video, meaning to add quick 5 min jumpope routine
I started jumping rope following the instruction on a Bruce Lee training book. Definitively need to get back into doing it consistently.
Exactly the video I needed
This is actually what I needed.
Nice thanks.

This is a great video
Thank you. Just the tutorial I needed.
What video do you have for hip mobility? Thanks!
The one after next 😁
I mess with jump rope every few years, tbh it's damn frustrating lol. I should take it up just to learn patience 😅.

💪🏾💯 jump rope fam here in the Philippines🇵🇭
Regularly skipping on hard concrete surfaces can result in shin splints. I speak from experience. Now I skip on an old yoga mat.
Brilliant exercise, great go to for cardio and coordination.
Fantastic video keep it up you're doing amazing things 😁👍
Awesome! Now I've gotta find where my speed rope jumped off to.

Same, i sarted doing burpees as my hit cardio bc of the the pain i get from jump rope the day after
Very handy, thank you!
I struggle to keep rhythm I been working on this for months and only 6 or 7 rotations I can do
What’s helping me become aware of the problem is recording myself and examine the video in slow motion.
I took it back, and everything is beautiful now, and maybe I'll finally learn how to jump the rope xD.
Can we get a video on an Astartes training program?
10km of running, how much time does it equal to jumping rope???
@TheBioneer are you going to show any progress you've made skipping, or is this purely a collaboration video with a tutorial for the viewers?
Does TheBioneer use/recommend and jump rope brands?
Cheers
How does jump rope compare to other activities in terms of fatigue management. Like, how does it compare to carries/yokes/other axial load stuff?
Personally I find it helps me with my running quite a bit. Makes me lighter and more bouncy on my feet which in turn makes me a bit faster, which at 93kg is really helpful.

Start with 100 jumps per day up to 1,000 straight... it only gets better from there..
Love how he says "jump" 🤣

Legs and hips are weak and out of balance most likely. Increase strength and mobility in hips and ankles.
Jumpin' Jehoshaphat!

@@grantstevensma Thanks - I'll give that a try!
Would you do a video on Hula Hooping? All the videos out there on the topic are bad.
I still can't. Funk this, i'll do sprints. 😋
Rest one!!! Whooo
"It's so similar to martial arts"
Me as a jiu-jitsu player: 🧏♂️
❤
Some slowmo shots coulda been nice. The rope moves so fast it's hard to grasp what he's describing
I actually dig the ropes a lot for training but i gotta admit being a smoker destroys that exercise for me x(
When you’re old with glass knees, what’s next best?
Bridge club, bowls, etc. Just kidding. Get a rebounder. Gives a lot of the same benefits as skipping but very low impact on joints
The audio resembles jump rope
Is Grant his little brother? Or his son?
For a second I thought I confused channels xD
Skipping
"Promo SM" 👊
It’s kind of hard to tell, do your heels touch the ground?
No they don't they get very close though
#FINSUP
Second
grant is so cute dammit lol
Skipping rope if you're English
When did it become jump rope? Obviously I didn't get the memo 😉
It’s skipping rope, someone’s become Americanised

8 mins of bla bla, then it's like "draw the rest of the owl". come on, bro. Why does this have so many thumbs up?
Your videos are informative but only the one's who have patience will watch them focus on talking less and showing more
That is the gayest jump rope form ive seen , the hands loooked like a bird's wings trying to fly
Why's he wearing shades tho? Weirdo
What’s wrong with wearing shades??
Why you worrying about the insignificant details? Weirdo
Because it was sunny out..?
