    So I recently changed my account to a brand account which deleted all of my old TH-cam comments including my responses to the questions in the comments section below. Feel free to re-ask old questions and I will do my best to answer them!
    Also at the end of the video I discuss an issue with iMovie audio/video syncing. This video here discusses how to resolve the issue: th-cam.com/video/p6KyXTHjnIY/w-d-xo.html

      @@louie8604 My bass is passive. When I made this video I didn't upgrade my bass at all but last month I got it refinished, swapped out the jazz pickup for a musicman pickup, swapped out the P pickup, and added a Hipshot Drop D tuner.

      Great video but Ive a question of how you plug your pedals to the interface? I’m new to recording, I’ve an xlr out on my amp, can I plug into my pedals and amp like normal and then run an xlr from the amp to the interface and record that way? I don’t have a D.I or interface just yet. Any help would be great 👍

    • @MyBassistChris
      @MyBassistChris  3 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@opierce Whoops sorry for the delayed reply, didn't see this notification. Hopefully I'm not too late, but yes you would just plug your pedals into your amp and then use the XLR/DI out on your amp into your interface.
      Another option is to get a cheap pedal that does have a DI out. The Caline Wine Cellar is a great Sansamp alternative that is only $40. Also most interfaces should also be able to take in an instrument cable jack, not only XLR.

    Hey Chris this was a really cool look at how you do your bass covers. I noticed during the clip around 4:00 that you have Logic Pro In your dock (I can't tell if it's 9 or X but I think it's X). Out of curiosity, why do you record in GarageBand instead of Logic?
    Edit: BTW Thanks for this video I found it helpful because I was wondering how you record your video

    • @dudemanbro986
      @dudemanbro986 4 ปีที่แล้ว

      I was about to ask a similar question. I know you can set the sample rate to 48 kHz with Logic Pro X prior to recording, so the audio should sync up nicely with the video. Also, you can buy Logic Pro for $200 as opposed to buying Final Cut Pro for $300. Seems like it'd be cheaper to buy Logic Pro X and use it with iMovie, which is free. Have you done this with Logic and iMovie? If so, any issues, or did it work out well?

    • @MyBassistChris
      @MyBassistChris  4 ปีที่แล้ว

      @@dudemanbro986 Hey Dennis! Sorry I didn't see this comment but if you're just going to do basic video editing iMovie will work fine. This video shows how to workaround the audio/syncing issue: th-cam.com/video/p6KyXTHjnIY/w-d-xo.html
      However I would recommend using Davinci Resolve for video editing. The software is free, doesn't have the syncing issue, and provides more features than iMovie. Enjoy!

      Chris Khalife Well, I’ve seen certain videos on TH-cam saying that I can’t just play the audio of a song over what I record on bass without getting a license or paying royalty fees to the copyright holder of the original song. But there’s so many covers on TH-cam and I doubt that everyone gets these licenses. I’m just trying to avoid getting in trouble with copyright holders.

    I was searching to try to find a video showing how to cut certain audio frequencies from original songs for covers. Like for example I want to cover a song on my bass but the main riff is so loud that you can barely hear my audio over the original track. Can’t find any instrumentals excluding the bass line :( any tips?

    • @MyBassistChris
      @MyBassistChris  2 ปีที่แล้ว

      If you just want to lower the bass of the original track you can try to EQ the low end out which should help your bass track stand out. You may also want to EQ your bass so it stands out more for your covers. While bass needs to retain the low end in a full mix, for a cover you actually want to take some of that low end out since the bass needs to shine.
      I would lean more towards modifying your bass tone first but if you still want to look into removing bass track I think moises.ai/ might be what you are looking for. Hope this helps!

    Hello! I’m using garage band aswell and darkglass for a amp and pedals!
    I find when I plug my head phones in the interface (komplete audio 2) it is much more quite in terms of volume in the head phones then when I used to plug into the head itself . Is this normal? I've actually always used combo amps so it's tough to say, but I wouldn't be totally surprised if the volume levels werent exactly the same. Can you increase the output volume on the interface? My Bassist Chris If I’m recording bass guitar though pedals that already have cabinet sim built into them should I be selecting guitar or mic line when recording DI into the interface from my pedals?
      Seems like selecting instrument and then a bass cabinet would be like putting the signal through two different cabsims if I selected instrument ?

    • @MyBassistChris
      @MyBassistChris  4 ปีที่แล้ว +1

      Impossible Colours it depends what cable you are using to connect to your interface, not cab simulation. If you are connecting to your interface with an instrument cable then pick instrument but if you are connecting using XLR then pick mic line. My sansamp has an XLR output so I connect using a mic line. Basically that option tells the interface how to handle the input
