I just got this last year, and it took me months. You are definitely close to getting it, all about the back truck. When i got my first one, i took my friend's advise of hanging alot more toes on my back foot, almost the entire toes were hanging. It just let me drag my back truck on the curb. Other quick tips that helped me: 1-bend the knees more so when u slap, it took more weight off the board. 2-keep my front shoulder pointing forward of the direction ur are grinding. 3-eyes looking at 1-2 feet ahead of the curb instead of where you are slapping on. 4-more wax at the corner edge may help u grind faster, it may just be enough speed boost to carry ur back truck on. You got it next session!
Great persistence man! You’re pretty much there. I don’t actually do them properly, I raise the front truck a bit and slam my back truck in first! I have my front foot nearer to the nose slightly. It’s the same with the fs 5050 for me. So I don’t feel I have the credentials to do a tutorial for them😅
this stuff about cheating... i don't mind - the cues in your noseslide video that opened it up for me were with shoulders. everyone else took that for granted.
@@Ungracefulmovement Yeah i know right! I didn't know about the rules but people are pretty quick to point out if you are doing a tutorial! I learnt slappy crooks wrong too but now do them proper ( i learnt by lifting my front truck and placing it in the crook, now i can just bonk straight in.. pheww. Your giving me great inspiration so keep up your hard work
UK's most famous car park. Man, some serious alchemy went on there! You're determined, that's for sure - you'll get that trick. I'm just tryin' to master some nocomplys - well, it is not easy. 😂
thanks man. I get it, but still with the timing and shock of hitting the curb i can't put it into practice. Def need to skate with someone that gets slappy 5050s and can push me on those nuances.
Nice one man! So close, feels like it just needs the shoulders to come round with yer board. Your tenacity is infectious, inspired me to land a couple of new bits over the weekend. Big up yerself! (lovely bondo work as well ;) )
Inliners wax everything as we like to actually move and have fun when we grind stuff and skate (read: getting stuck when the wheels are physically attached to your feet is bloody terrifying)
Parklife! I haven't really messed too much with waxing curbs let alone the level of maintenance you do here. I bought the red Skate Hut wax and it (obviously) leaves a red residue so I feel bad 😂 need to get some clear stuff. You are close on those slappys. I'd be interested to see you convert that 5050 stall from last week(?) into a 5050 grind. That's how I'd do it, small Ollie rather than slappy. Good work dude... on to 1k subs for you this week 💪
We’ll see about subs, and not counting chickens. You probably get over feeling bad about red wax after you ground your trucks over a concrete ledge 👀 I’ve been thinking about that 5050 stall. Need one of those sessions where I try to evolve it.
Your resillience is impressive! I was just thinking, would it be easier to come at it from the other side? My idea being that it’s easier to put most of the pressure on the heelside of the board just before impact so that the toeside wheels might just pop onto the curb?
@@Ungracefulmovement not yet, i have a feeling i would fail miserably going either way, but i might give it a try in the coming weeks. I was just thinking loudly how i might go about it 😅
Mad respect man. I refuse to learn slappies these days. When i was young ppl mobbed for doing slappies, now the same people do them. It looks cool, but I reject 😀
best advice i can give ya is to stay low and let the pressure/speed do the work edit: keep your feet in the pockets and resist lifting the nose as you would tryin to ollie. think of it like you're slippin on a banana peel
@Ungracefulmovement yeah bro! I have been working on my slappy front 5050s too. I think a few more sessions and I'll have it🤘 it's a trick I have wanted for a long time. I bought the keen ramps curb cover that been helping me and have it set up in the backyard, so now I can practice any time🤘 I also got the parking block and got slappy boardslides pretty quick. That stuff has really helped my skating progress😎💯
Nice video man. But don't you need to be able to ollie lock that thang in place, then start to try rolling ones? I mean slappy ones are when you basically do tiny manual before you hit the curbe. Ollie onto it are normal, bit confused. Did only Ollie ones lol
Hey, I am 44 and you have more skills than me. Slappies are my go to cause I cant Olli. First thing: you are close. Second: it is hard on a not painted curb. You live in the UK right? Paited curbs are so much easier. Third: I hate to say it, but you need more speed. I know that is the shitty advice for everything in skateboarding. But you got the wheels up, so now you need more speed to get the trucks locked. And you will need some speed to grind. The good thing about abackside slappy is, you just will fall forward. So get as much speed that you still can run out.
Haha. Well, I’ll take some solace that I have more skills than at least one person (although I bet you are wrong). I’m ready for the more speed feedback. It’s all fear for me, but the more I get used to smacking into the curb I think I can build up speed.
@@UngracefulmovementI am not wrong. I can not do anything on transition and it scares the hell out of me. I spend most of my time skating with slappies. I watched all Videos on TH-cam. But good skaters forget the feeling how it is if you start from the beginning. Sorry for my Bad english. I am german. So if you like I will comment your videos.
@Ungracefulmovement hehe. Steal away... for sure, it might help to loosen the trucks. it might also be in the shoulders. It could help if you close them a bit.
Seems TH-cam isn't recommending your videos😡😡To me anyways cause obviously you're getting views! Never actually tried slappy 5050s. I think my trucks are to tight to even begin to try them lol Baby ollies onto a curb it is! 👊🛹
weird about the algorithm, hope you're enjoying them enough to find them. I don't like my trucks too tight by default, so this is throwing a spanner in the works - fear that i might have to run a slappy setup (even though i haven't truly landed one yet) with looser undercarriage. for me, baby onto a curb is actually next level.
@@Ungracefulmovement You'll probably end up doing what I usually do when trying 5050s: Ollie right on top past the curb part lol (as you can see in my "Mess Around" video lol But it's really no different from just doing a ollie. Just get used to landing on higher ground.
Love seeing some curb action & it's cool curb seshes have came back into fashion ❤

Apply pressure to the toe side for backside, apply pressure to the heel side for frontside (when getting in to slappy 5050)

I needed to see this, I really cannot understand slappys, I think I just need to ride at curbs for an hour to feel it
That is half the fun. I think
I just started working on slappies yesterday!
Let’s go!!! Noseslides first?
@@Ungracefulmovement actually I've been having better luck trying to get into a 50. I'm going to try nose slides more though.

I kept thinking the shoulders were a big thing, but when there's a lot of variables hard to know what's working. thanks for watching!
@@Ungracefulmovement Aye absolutely man, so many factors to take into account.
Fuckin mate! Slappy willy?! Never thought ide say that on the internet openly, but that was sick! So close to that 50/50

not sure I was confident to use slappy willy as a video title

Great curb sesh! Liking the nose slides and you’re almost there on nailing those slappys (not too complementary for you I hope..) 😉
I’m adjusting Simon (to compliments). And every day I don’t do a Noseslide I feel a bit sadder. It’s been a week.

as long as i can't ollie for s**t slappy is the closest i'm getting to my nose sliding ledge dreams.
theres a cool slappy spot in romford in the car park on north street like 5 mins from the station.
Smooth waxed and buttery?
Has that curb been run bricked down? It looks like it's had some love before this. I'm gonna buy a Steel Stick for sure. Oh and Nice SUBPOP T Shirt.
It was looking good when we first met, so i don’t know if it was ever rub bricked.
