Skateboarding at 44 years old... I've been wanting to try one of those symmetrical egg boards from Heroin Skateboards and now I have. #beginners #over40 #skateboarding
I like it! The extra width in the middle makes me more confident landing tricks. I’ve got Indy titanium 159s and 56mm 93a Nano Cubics. I do get wheel bite if I land poorly so I might go to 54mm but I also like being able to go over crusty ground easily; it’s a dilemma.
@@Ungracefulmovement I'm a bit of a full gear w*nker, so more than I need and as I haven't bothered to learn any Ollie's or fliptricks I've been cruising/carving/kickturning/bertsliding on 9.5 and 10.4 eggs. I'm going to dedicate some sessions to ollie's on my 8.25 popsicle soon though (that'll be a boring video 🤣)
@@Ungracefulmovement thanks dude. I hope I've improved them a bit since then. I'll record a new one. I have your shuv it vid in my "Watch Later" for after work.
yooo man good video! 38 year old here (coincidentally, turned 38 exactly a day after this video came out, june 26th) always been a street skater with popsicle boards skating back in early 00s we were skating 7.75" mostly then started going up in sizes a bit but i stopped skating around 2012. got back into it, picked up a 8.125 board now as my "normal" board and wanted to give the egg shape a try as well so i bought a complete new setup (big mistake i think) and i've been riding it for a week as well and it's a mixed bag for me too. the egg i have is a fried egg 3.0 (non symmetrical) at 8.9" (8.5" over the trucks) and for cruising it's really fun but the way the setup is right now i'm completely missing my pop timing most likely due to thunder trucks over indys and the egg shape being a bit steeper than what i normally ride. and even though the board is lighter than my normal setup with solid indys, it feels slightly more sluggish. plus whenever i look down to setup my feet for a ollie or kickflip or whatever, the shape of the nose reaaaaaaly throws me off and i feel like i have no nose at all (even though it's technically the same surface area as i have with the 8.125) all in all it's a fun board and shape but i dont think it's the right shape for me, the couple of things that it did teach me though is: 1- i prefer independent trucks over thunders 2- i like having a wider board to ride on. so im thinking im gonna bump up to 8.5 popsicle shape with a 14.25" wheel base with independent trucks and taht should really be the sweet spot for me.
It’s been a couple of weeks since I was on this egg. Went back to an 8.38 popsicle. But just today I skated with a guy that had the 8.5 egg, and he was loving it. I might bring it back and just loosen the crap out of the trucks.
@@Ungracefulmovement i spent a week agonizing over the egg and why it felt off and i came to the scientific conclusion that my fried egg 3.0 has a tiny ass tail that completely throws off my pop timing. for real it's a really small tail (like 5.5") tail and i get so little leverage. my 8.5 board with a bigger wheel base felt better to pop than the egg. it's a fun board for cruising though so i might just pop some cruiser wheels on it and just use it for chill street riding.
So good to see my old local (meanwhile) randomly pop up in such a fun edit. Definitely staying subscribed... Where's that perfect little slappy curb in the car park though?
I just set up my curb killer6 from them 10" of eggyness not quite at your level but definitely enjoying being back on the board let's start an eggidemic 😂
Ollies and nose slides are really coming on! Also great work on the bonelesses 😎 This vid was great timing considering what mine ended up being about 😆
Pretty sure that's the same kid that always tries to talk to me when I go to crystal palace, I give him my old bearings and hardware, he's pretty cool though. We should go palace at some point!
@@Ungracefulmovementthats good, I pretty much grew up riding classic wheel shapes if I try anything else it changes the way the board flips, I also feel slappys work better with classics but each to their own I say
love your commitment to the egg bit, your puns make me smile!
Someone had to do it. Thanks for watching!!
Hell yea dude! I’m 30 and just started skating, also on an egg board now (9.125”) and not having to worry about which side to throw down is so cool 😎
How are you finding the size? And what trucks / wheels?

Good stuff! Back is back and ill be getting on my board again soon! Much love!
Let’s go!!!
I'm another old noob in England with an egg. Soon you'll be on a 10"! Keep the vids coming dude.
Subbed.
Thanks for subbing. I’m sure the 10 is not far off. What do you ride?

I live in South London, but I work in North, so the curb is local for me (Sydenham), and Meanwhile is a rare treat. Thanks for subbing!!!
If your in DeKalb Illinois ever, I'll skate with you and help you learn. I'm 47 👍
Yes mate! 🙏🏻 thank you. Never been to Illinois
yeah angel heart was definitely a movie my mom never should have let me watch as a kid lol
I dressed as DeNiro from Angel Heart for Halloween once. Loved it.

a pandem-egg? a r-egg-volution against popsicle shapes?
That lil pool at the start looks so mellow and yet so fast 😅 shaped boards look allot of fun.
Loved the puns some of them wer very un-egg-spected 😂
Meanwhile Gardens. It’s a central spot for a lot of beginners on mini ramp. Horrible seams between the concrete but mellow transition for 3ft
Great edit and enjoyed the chat throughout! Great noseslide and rock and rolls 👌🏻
@@simonvidetta1976 movie clips were for you

Nice, spend half of my 40 minute lunch break sat in my van up on Dartmoor laughing at the egg puns. Skating was good too of course 👌🏻

That was an eggcelent nose slide
Oh my days, no clips from Tampopo!?! Madness
I’ve never seen it. 1985 Japanese movie (Google)? It’s on the list now.
@@Ungracefulmovement yeah. It’s really good, cult classic.

I just don't like people talking to me. it's a lose-lose situation.
but also, it's not my favourite park.
Omelet you keep the egg shape. I'm just going to keep all my eggs in one basket with the old school shapes. I'm probably being a little egg-arophobic.
Careful not to poach my puns. I’ve been enjoying it still over the last week. Not fully sold on it but changing wheels up helped
Sunny side up dude
Nice nose slide! Nice and slow is the name of the game. You don't want to end like humpty dumpty!
nice and slow is also the perfect way to make scrambled eggs (conincedence or not???)
@@Ungracefulmovement it was all written long ago! 😀
Am riding the same board rn ❤️it
What wheels do you have on it?
52mm Spitfire classics, 149 Indy forged baseplate titanium axle, crazy light set up
@@CovTown it must just be me with the classics… I switched to conical full (53mm) and I’m enjoying the ride a lot more

The puns were eggceptional! But on the serious note, I don't think I saw a better eggsplanation why would you want an egg shape board. Crack on!
I'm honestly out of puns at this point
eggstatic when i saw a new vid tbh
thanks. and i'm glad everyone seems to get the yolk.
I'll make it 500.
