  • The most unique foods but everything was so delicious. I must admit, not everything was spicy lol. Yes, I know I can't take spice... Thank you for telling me.

Hi..just some info..for us the local Muslim here..we are wary of the halal status of food that's being prepare by the non muslim eventhough the basis of the food is halal and there's plenty of real halal foods around prepared by muslim for you to chose from. The reason for this is the halal status is not simply the base food itself but also included of how the food being prepared, the utensils used, the cleanliness of the worker, etc, etc, etc. Here in Malaysia, we muslim take this halal status very seriously as it will affect our well being in this life and hereafter. Just some info yeah.

Most of the shops along Jalan Alor are not Halal so ask if their stalls are Halal or not. The price range on that street are sometimes twice the price if you buy at a night market in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman... N the food in Jalan Tuanku Abdul Rahman are Halal n cheaper

Jln. Alor charges the same as the mall restaurant's food court. Try genuine regional cuisine the next time, like satay, roti canai, apam balik, curry pap, popia, cendol, and rambly burger. It is not spicy, therefore I recommend you give it a try.

What your friend thought was the smelly durian fruit was actually (I think) is jackfruit. They have it also in the Philippines. They eat it as is or in turon (sweet banana and jackfruit eggroll). Now jackfruit is also used as meat substitute. You can even find them in some grocery stores already cooked like shredded bbq style. Have a safe trip, Walid!

At Pavilion Mall using the stairs going down to UG where there is a food court called Food Republic. You see a lot of people crossing into the Pavilion and crossing back, but the fact is 50% of them go to Food Republic because there is a lot of Malay, Asian and international cuisine at affordable prices.
