I purchased pecker 2 for a hobby. I am a slow learner I'm having difficulty with knowing what setting are the best for my project. But it's seems that this site will suit me well. Thank you.
You should also do a review on the Laser Pecker 4. My Laser Pecker 4 is on route to the USA port and I should receive it soon. It has both a 10 watt diode and a 2 watt RF laser and can be switched on the fly.
Hi rich I have had mine a few months now. The bit of plastic, barrel, is just packing to stop the handle being damaged in transit. The usb cable to the z is unplugged from the column and plugged into the trolley and then there is another short cable that links from the trolley to the column. That way you can have the fan on the shroud running when you use rotary device.
Interesting. I wonder with the shroud being all the way down if this would be safe for use at a public show for a quick personalized burn. I use Hydbond leatherette with adhesive backing for my hat patches. I could precut the patches with my diode laser and then personalize them onsite during a show. During engraving does it produce a lot of smoke?
Better check with code enforcement on that! Every show if different, and some municipalities only allow certain approved smoke extraction devices. Big $$$ fines for violations!
Be neat if trolley mode used x and y and was almost unlimited (limited by cord length) :) Yes, I am greedy LOL This piece of cherry I have is like 4ft long and 2ft wide and would look awesome with an engraving on it. Cool little machine and honestly lower priced than I thought it would be.
I dunno. Seems cool but their later versions probably fixed some of the issues with this. I bought the Latitool F50 5.5 watt and it has been awesome. I cut 6mm plywood and engrave on toothpics. Thanks for the review sir.
You showed trolley mode but not how to set it up. Could you do a quick video on that by any chance? Do you need time thing extra for that or do you turn the roller attachment upside down and let it run on that? Can you use lightburn with it? Can it do photo type engraving or just single power output? Thanks. Loved your presentation as always
Yes, you simply turn it over, pop on the magnetic stabilizers, and attach the laser. You go to the settings and turn on the third axis and it's done. No Lightburn on this one, but the V3 model you can use Lightburn. and yes, it does do photos.
Hallo Rich. Please forgive the question that has nothing to do with this video. It is very difficult for me to read the Lightburn texts (commands etc.). Whatever changes I make to the computer/screen settings, does not affect the text on the LB screen. Could you suggest how I could make the letters more bold / large? Emanuel P.
Well, they have a USB connection and proprietary software for Windows & MAC, but I couldn't get it to connect. Following their YT video, I was unsuccessful, and looking at the comments, so was everyone else. Apparently, there is a Bluetooth dongle you can buy to try that way. Here is the connection video from them; note the comments: th-cam.com/video/n4FsuB-ni70/w-d-xo.html
*This portable laser really did surprise me!*

For over $1,000.00 laser, I expect it to be this good and give me compliments.
It's $800 and change for the LaserPecker 2 without the rotary. Still, yes, one would expect it to perform as advertised.
Thank you for deciding to make this review. I have been intrigued by the Laser Pecker ads. I always wondered if they worked as good as they claimed.
Yes Sir! Thanks for the comment! It works great Geo!

I will if they send one!

I don't see how the shroud fan would be of any help in trolley mode. I'll give it a try though.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy not in trolley mode. I use it when engraving pens using the rotary unit.
Yes, I did a few pencils that way too!
Thanks for the review.
My pleasure!
Hi, can you share the settings you used for slate costers
You have to do a material test to get the settings. None of the parameters I use will work for anyone else.
Can you engrave on stainless steel? Like dog tags?
Yes, any laser can do anodized aluminum like dog tags, but a diode doesn't do base metals very well.

Probably not. It exhausts to the atmosphere so they probably wouldn't allow the fumes.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Thanks.
We use one at open air fairs. Also working on a filter system to use it in an enclosed space.

Well Mike, you can do that! You just have to slice the graphic into 100mm wide slices and run multiple jobs.
Does it have the capability to cut Baltic Birch?
Well the bed is 100 x 100, so you won't be cutting much. It is a 5W laser, so it can cut 3 or 4mm wood.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy I normally cut smaller than 4" circle with an engraving and cutting letters in stencil font for a local business
It would probably work fine for that.

I didn't think of toothpicks!

I’ll stay for the lot. Always do
Awesome, thanks for watching!
Whenever I try to use the roller cylinder setting my laser is completely off of the roller. Do you know why that would be?
It's not positioned properly.

It is covered near the five and a half minute mark in the Customizing Lightburn Software video Rich posted on June 9, 2023
@@timmyB147 Hello. I have found it and made the settings. Many thanks !!!
Glad you found it!
Thanks for helping!!
What if you don't have a Phone? Will it run with a PC or a Laptop?

@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Thank you very much Rick.
The PC does work but if memory serves there is a firmware update.
Didn't work for me or anyone asking questions on their instructional video.
@@TheLouisianaHobbyGuy Thank you again Rick. Appreciate it.
Nice for a 5 watt.
Yes indeed! It's fast and it does a great job!
Not using my phone.
Okay 🤪
