Played with a 16 year old Anthony Kim in a 2002 local U.S. open qualifier and as soon as I saw his first hole I knew this guy was special. Following his career and disappearance was heartbreaking. He was a great kid when I played with him but listening to him now as a man that went through hell, saved by good women in his life I can’t help but keep routing for him. Anthony if you by chance read this we believe in you and win a tournament or not, you have already won in life.

The first half I was concerned this was just a softball puff piece. Then it became very clear that David was being kind and understanding, and that so much was being said with so few words. I’ve seen family and friends go through similar journeys, and statistically the odds of redemption are sadly so low. Let’s hope Anthony has an incredible bogey bounceback and knows that so many of us are rooting for him.

I liked the guy too, but at this time he couldn't play/qualify for the Korn Ferry Tour. He's.come in last place 2 straight times and I'm sure LIV paid $millions. LIV is a chosen, pay millions, non inclusive golf tour. If they allowed to do this, they can do it with baseball, football, and basketball. Not really because these are poor folks sports, but cricket, tennis, horse/car racing, and golf, Mmmmm? LIV can only help a few chosen golfers. Not one college golfer has been given a chance and they won't do it. Crap golf and I hope It fails. I am wrong, didn't all of them/most couldn't wait to leave the Tours? Now all of them want to be part and play on the PGA tour . A bunch of money grubbing liars. I for one have not missed any one of them. Just hope people actually give him a chance, he’s trying to get over some bad things. No one will ever truly know the whole story and it’s nobody’s business to. He’s changed his view on life, his priorities are his family especially his little girl which is what happens when you become a parent. You don’t have to like him but to hate him because he went to LIV, he’s just trying to do what’s best for him and his family. That’s all that matters to him. You can’t expect him to jump straight back out onto the PGA and make it work. I would have done exactly what he did. Without LIV he wouldn’t even have got a chance to comeback. He’s coming back from a long time out of professional competition and injuries. Remember injuries can end careers at any point. Can’t ever take things for granted which I’m sure he knows now. Glad he’s back. He will get those odd good rounds before he strings a whole tournament together and it’s like building blocks at the moment. Remember it’s ok for tiger to have had injuries and a shady past just because he’s still on the pga tour. Wonder how people would have felt if tiger joined LIv?

Always loved watching him play and remember the Masters where he made 11 birdies in one round. I would love to see him playing in Majors and winning again. Good luck AK!

Amazing how some people, no matter how privileged the position they are afforded, still manage to blame others. At rock bottom, he probably had $10-15 million in the bank, while out partying after giving up golf. Tough gig.

There were a couple moments in this where the smile came out and it was the exact smile AK had when he was playing 12 years ago. He was captivating and made us all want to have more fun on the course. I’m glad he is getting things together, but above all, I hope he never forgets to smile.

Great to see Anthony back on the golf course competing. Even better to see him get past the troubles that plagued him for almost 12 years. But the real story is how Greg Norman went out of his way to give Anthony a chance to return to professional golf. Greg had empathy for the guy when the PGAT surely had stipulation after stipulation just to get a chance to compete. I would suspect the PGAT would have forced AK to go through Korn Ferry qualifying to get a Korn Ferry card. So I believe while Anthony is to be commended for turning his life around, Greg Norman deserves a lot of credit for reaching out and giving Anthony a place to play.

Puhleeze.... Norman sees AK as most people do when driving by a bad accident - we have to look. He's a freak show, and will never be close to competitive again. He's a mere novelty and Greg and LIV will do anything to try to vitalize his weak product...

    • @josephroberts6865

@@kyledavis635 is puhleeze supposed to mean anything to me? It doesn’t. You ma be correct about Anthony Kim, but you state it as if it’s a fact. The 65 he shot in Hong Kong proves he has the potential to return to form from more than 12 years ago, and that’s a fact. Very easy to be a LIV hater when the golf and sports media only bash them. It also proves that you’re not a golf fan. You’re a PGA Tour cheer leader or a lemming easily manipulated by a biased media.

Its not just AK that had to deal with their demons. Tiger, Phil, JD, DJ and possibly a few more that had women, alcohol, drugs and gambling as their choice of vice. Trying to survive those dark days and still retain their skills at a high level speaks volumes of how elite their talents are.
