Played with a 16 year old Anthony Kim in a 2002 local U.S. open qualifier and as soon as I saw his first hole I knew this guy was special. Following his career and disappearance was heartbreaking. He was a great kid when I played with him but listening to him now as a man that went through hell, saved by good women in his life I can’t help but keep routing for him. Anthony if you by chance read this we believe in you and win a tournament or not, you have already won in life.
Was he loyal to Saudi Arabia back then too?
How many us open qualifiers have u played in
@@Rick-C-117 just about as loyal as the PGA Tour is to Saudi backed corporate sponsors.
@@georgebrennan2576 only a handful local qualifiers, never made it to sectionals
@@iroctonysmith1991 Don’t say that! PGA cry babies can’t handle the truth 😂
I met Anthony on several occasions, was always so gracious humble, and down to earth, you have no idea, I pray to God he stays sober..
Wow. That was an honest interview. Love seeing this and can't wait for Kim to get it going again. ❤
The first half I was concerned this was just a softball puff piece. Then it became very clear that David was being kind and understanding, and that so much was being said with so few words. I’ve seen family and friends go through similar journeys, and statistically the odds of redemption are sadly so low. Let’s hope Anthony has an incredible bogey bounceback and knows that so many of us are rooting for him.
Great interview!! Very inspirational!
Great interview. Kim seems like such a nice guy! I am a fan.
Welcome Anthony, you've been greatly missed by the golf world... May God bless you and your family always.
Excellent interview David and go get them Anthony wishing you all the best mate in the future 👍
Amazing comeback, what a guy! Give him a run
It is good for Anthony to own his past and fix it. No one is perfect, and like Anthony, being in recovery now for 15 years I'm very happy he is playing golf sober.
Awesome 😊
I'm a fan
He must have snorted half of Peru. He's unrecognizable. Best of luck to him
😂😂
so happy for anthony. Hope the best for him and his family ahead
Everybody loves a redemption story. The fact he is alive is a win in itself.
Kim Kardashian has a good come back story also
@@jazzcardashcam In the video she gets come on her back I think..

@@jazzcardashcam She was willing to give up her🍑. That time she inspired many girls to get a bbl
What do you mean, the fact that he is alive, did he try to commit suicide. I haven’t heard anything about Anthony since he retired/quit golf professionally.
Usually i get bored with these sort of videos but you can’t ignore the quality of content. Not just some interview. Going out on a course where he’s comfortable and just conversation between two golf legends. That’s how it’s done
How is AK a legend? Lol
@@travissmith712 you serious? He was an amazingly talented player before he left. He might not have won very much but he was gifted as a player. People really did think he had potential to be a top 10 player had he kept going.
Feherty is a pub/bar legend, not a Golf legend. And having dealt with him personally, he is more miserable a cretin than even Curtis Strange!! C'mon LIV fans.. keep the sh!t at shoe level. We are here for A.Kim, period.
@@_SPREZZATURA_McGEE_ you don’t decide who qualifies as a golf legend. Nobody cares that he was miserable to you. You probably deserved it
@Singlebarrel2323 ok so he was gifted then, but not a legend. He didn't really win much and won't be recognized for great accomplishments in golf.
I hope Anthony knows how many of us are not only rooting for him but also absolutely appreciate him sharing his journey with us. I'd love to see him win every tournament but as long as he's content and happy, that makes me happy as an AK fan.
We’re all rooting for him to collect lots of that dirty Saudi money.
I liked the guy too, but at this time he couldn't play/qualify for the Korn Ferry Tour. He's.come in last place 2 straight times and I'm sure LIV paid $millions. LIV is a chosen, pay millions, non inclusive golf tour. If they allowed to do this, they can do it with baseball, football, and basketball. Not really because these are poor folks sports, but cricket, tennis, horse/car racing, and golf, Mmmmm? LIV can only help a few chosen golfers. Not one college golfer has been given a chance and they won't do it. Crap golf and I hope It fails. I am wrong, didn't all of them/most couldn't wait to leave the Tours? Now all of them want to be part and play on the PGA tour . A bunch of money grubbing liars. I for one have not missed any one of them. Watching the PGA and the new and upcoming golf talent has been great 👍
@@Rick-C-117It’s almost as dirty as the PGA Tour’s money.
The Best 20 minutes I have seen in the Sporting World in Decades!! Great Job, David Feherty. AK....ONE DAY AT A TIME! Proud of you!!
A dude threw his career away for strippers and now looks like an alien what a triumphant story
One day at a time is so true in every day and in recovery as well.
I got a buddy who 12 years ago was a scratch golfer, successful mortgage broker from a great family and a house on the water. Fast forward to today lives in a tent because of drugs. Wish he could figure it out. I’m rooting for AK
He needs a power greater than will power Jesus Christ is the answer 👍🙏🏻
He must be saving a lot of money living in a tent! Good for him!
@@StevieMc1971oh yeah, that’ll do it 😂
@@Bupkus68It's sad that most people's reactions to that which they're ignorant is to laugh and mock.
I had an addiction problem for most of my adult life. I wanted something better but was powerless. So I'm my desperation, I cried out for Jesus to save me, and He did precisely that and more.
Fast-forward several years, and I'm clean, restored to my family, and own my own business. So, yes, "that'll do it."
I just don't get people that work so hard and have so much to just give it all away in return for drugs- then again, I'm not an addict so how could I understand?
Rooting for AK! Hoping LIV gives him a few years to find his place. First time I’ve cared about pro golf in a long time!.
I’m guessing they will only be giving him this year tbh as I think most of the captains only got 3-4 years … but if he gets relegated there will be a Asian tour card and access to the international series as backup is assume. So there is a safety net
Wrong league Kim. Sorry but can’t watch and will never watch Liv. Blood money is evil money. Good luck with your demons.
Ive seen plenty of coke addicts and he is definitely one...
I’m excited to see him back and I never even watched him in his past career
This video is what golf is truly all about a superstar in the making falls off no one knows what happens. He comes back like a different person in a whole different form with a desire to win not only tournaments but life more than ever. Class act LIV Golf!
He put $10 million up his nose, that's what happened.
What a hero... lmao
Dude looks rough
Anthony Kim was my favorite player when I had just started taking up golf and I never understood what happened to him. I'm glad to see him back back out there and giving it a go. I'll be back watching and rooting for AK like the old days!
He was my favorite golfer too. I met him today at LIV in Chicago and took a pic with him…incredibly nice and humble guy!
The journey back? He took a sh*t ton of money to show up and shoot in the 80's. There was no "journey". He didn't have to work his way back he took a check and showed up on the tee. LOL hilarious.
Pulling for you AK. Love to hear you speak about being a dad and the love you have for your family. Just seeing you out in the limelight is a WIN! Good luck to you and hope to see you back in the winner circle with the rest of your golfing career. Great interview David! 👍
Regardless of how broken you are, always remember that you can and will heal. AK is the perfect example. I can appreciate his resilience and motivation to improve his game. Yet, more than anything, I admire the importance AK has dedicated to his family. Well done!
The average person does not have friends family and strangers willing to help them at low points. However, I am happy to see Mr Kim accept the second chances
He’s done a lot of drugs into his nose you can tell
So glad to watch this.
Well done to both of you for this personal piece!
Occasionally, the act of bringing a new life into the world is what it takes to save another life. Truly, life is a remarkable phenomenon.
No, he is copying tiger...again. he had his chance. It would not be fair to others who grind day in and day out and put in the effort to be a part of this game. This guy had his chance and he blew it. Nobody cares about this guy anymore. And why should they? He is a junky. He will most likely get right back into his old habits if he gets into golf. Golf was the poison for this guy and he is stepping right back into the thing that ruined his life.
@@MM-tn3brYou seem like a real piece of work.
Surprised they didnt talk about the elephant in the room which is/was his addiction to drugs and alcohol. Sad
That’s kind of unspoken and understood already. Anyone with half a brain will be able to join the dots in that regard.
Cocaine is a helluva drug
What an amazing story, this guy was my idol when I was 10 back in 2008 as we are both American South Korean. Now 26 > I’ve had some low points in my life & this gives me hope I’ll find true happiness like Anthony did 💙⛳️
You got this!
Everybody hurts.
I’m not going to sugarcoat it. Drugs has aged the hell out of Kim. May he succeed and become an inspiration to those at a low point in their lives.
His nose and voice.

Legendary interview, with two legendary people
Just incredible what a talented journalist David Feherty is!
@@roxanneb8844 Feherty is an excellent journalist with a big personality. Indeed he is
A journalist??? Hahahaha Is Gary McCord a journalist too?
What a bunch of know-alls responding to your comment. Feherty is a journalist. For one thing, his book Somewhere in Ireland a Village is Missing an Idiot is a collection of many columns he wrote for Golf Magazine and other publications. It’s funny as hell. He got into broadcasting because of his golf career, followed by his journalism career. But don’t let the facts get in the way of your brilliant comments.
@@grammarboy1318 thanks for defending me against all these imbeciles
@@roxanneb8844 what a joke. By your definition, there isn’t a single journalist left. Please list anyone in the media that doesn’t play loose with the facts.
12 years is a long long time. At times he comes across as defeated and vulnerable but certainly humbled. Feherety can certainly relate. Still, he has a beautiful family and that seems to be a very good motivator for him to want to be a better man. Good on you AK! All the very best!
There seems to be some confusion about when he started playing golf again. From what I heard on the broadcast in each of the two events, he was playing golf last year and broke his ankle which prevented him from playing for a while. He started to prepare for professional golf again a few months ago.
He said in another interview that when he broke his ankle he was playing with his wife as she wanted to golf
How many of us men in our late 30’s and early 40’s can relate to AK. I know I can. Spent most of my 30’s alone with my 2 dogs because I was so tired of getting hurt by the world
Although, I liked the story…he’s saying a lot of nothing.
I will watch LIV solely for AK. No other reason. The OG urban golfer.
Anthony Kim looks like he hasn’t cut his hair in years. Swing looks good. What happened to his nose. It looks broken.
If it wasn't for the voice you wouldn't know it was him.
Nose beer specialist
From a first hand point of view I can probably relate to some of the struggles A.K. Is alluding too in the past. And there’s absolutely nothing harder to overcome in life. Only unconditional love from someone that you love can help bring you back to the surface. Seems like he would agree with this.
I’ll be watching every swing he makes, thanks to the wizards at LIV + ❤❤ Go A. K. Go !!!
A true redemption story. Outstanding interview, David.
Thanks Anthony and David for opening up and being real.
I love this. I'ma huge AK fan. I ran around Quail Hollow all day with his dad the year AK won there. The only thing his dad said to me all day were 3 words. "He will win".
Enjoy your comeback. I'ma fan for life
I am so grateful to be able to see Ak play again. I wish more people could share the cheer for him and give him endless support. Wish only the best for you Ak 🎉
Great to see his return!
forever a legend to the game
Great story, very well conveyed to us golf fans from both of these gentlemen including Greg, credit to all. God bless.
Why NO mention of his complete facial reconstruction ???
I think we ALL know what’s happened - seems futile to avoid this
Rooting for Anthony wether or not he's successful in his new career or not.
im gonna assume by reading in between he was doing drugs.
Rooting for you AK!!!
AK의 성공을 기원합니다. Define your own success. Do not listen to useless negative comments. Haters will just hate; just ignore them and be yourself. You are a valuable presence.
Ak is based alpha for being AMWF couple
What really happened to AK? That question was not answered. His real story remained in the dark.
I observed the exact same thing. Of course, who could not pull for Anthony Kim? Based on his words and elusiveness my guess is that he’s been dealing with chemical dependency of some kind. What matters now is that he is taking a new path with a brighter future.
AK is keeping a lot of things quiet, not because he doesn't want to share it, but because of the documentary on his life that is being made. His story will come. But we have to wait for his documentary.
AK, welcome back to LIVing! Bring the darkness to Light; peace be with you, friend.
Well done and thank you, David.
Just hope people actually give him a chance, he’s trying to get over some bad things. No one will ever truly know the whole story and it’s nobody’s business to. He’s changed his view on life, his priorities are his family especially his little girl which is what happens when you become a parent. You don’t have to like him but to hate him because he went to LIV, he’s just trying to do what’s best for him and his family. That’s all that matters to him. You can’t expect him to jump straight back out onto the PGA and make it work. I would have done exactly what he did. Without LIV he wouldn’t even have got a chance to comeback. He’s coming back from a long time out of professional competition and injuries. Remember injuries can end careers at any point. Can’t ever take things for granted which I’m sure he knows now. Glad he’s back. He will get those odd good rounds before he strings a whole tournament together and it’s like building blocks at the moment. Remember it’s ok for tiger to have had injuries and a shady past just because he’s still on the pga tour. Wonder how people would have felt if tiger joined LIv?
Completely agree with everything you said.
Anthony threw his career away on drugs, booze and women. This is more of pity than anything
Always loved watching him play and remember the Masters where he made 11 birdies in one round. I would love to see him playing in Majors and winning again. Good luck AK!
So comforting to have a strong woman supporting you. How could anyone not fall in love with such an adorable daughter. Awesome that he recognizes that and is working on himself.
Amazing how some people, no matter how privileged the position they are afforded, still manage to blame others. At rock bottom, he probably had $10-15 million in the bank, while out partying after giving up golf. Tough gig.
Just like there’s a lid for every pot there’s a blonde wife for every pro golfer.
I wish Anthony all the best in live as a father, husband, and also as a professional golfer. Great that LIV embraced both these two real persons. Well done David.
I still have a lot of unannounced questions about what happened to Anthony Kim.
Anthony brought all his troubles on himself. He can’t blame anyone but himself. With that said I’ve known Anthony for 25 years and hope nothing but the best for my friend
"I was around bad people..." I bet Tiger is included in that also. Drugs, women and gambling.
A lot of beating around the bush lol
A FIRST CLASS BUM AT BEST
There were a couple moments in this where the smile came out and it was the exact smile AK had when he was playing 12 years ago. He was captivating and made us all want to have more fun on the course. I’m glad he is getting things together, but above all, I hope he never forgets to smile.
He was almost a Rickie Fowler type before he got hurt
I guess nobody wants to ask about what the hell happened to his nose. Hello?
I have never cried watching a golf interview , until now
Rooting for you, AK.
Great to see Anthony back on the golf course competing. Even better to see him get past the troubles that plagued him for almost 12 years. But the real story is how Greg Norman went out of his way to give Anthony a chance to return to professional golf. Greg had empathy for the guy when the PGAT surely had stipulation after stipulation just to get a chance to compete. I would suspect the PGAT would have forced AK to go through Korn Ferry qualifying to get a Korn Ferry card. So I believe while Anthony is to be commended for turning his life around, Greg Norman deserves a lot of credit for reaching out and giving Anthony a place to play.
Puhleeze.... Norman sees AK as most people do when driving by a bad accident - we have to look. He's a freak show, and will never be close to competitive again. He's a mere novelty and Greg and LIV will do anything to try to vitalize his weak product...
@@kyledavis635 is puhleeze supposed to mean anything to me? It doesn’t. You ma be correct about Anthony Kim, but you state it as if it’s a fact. The 65 he shot in Hong Kong proves he has the potential to return to form from more than 12 years ago, and that’s a fact. Very easy to be a LIV hater when the golf and sports media only bash them. It also proves that you’re not a golf fan. You’re a PGA Tour cheer leader or a lemming easily manipulated by a biased media.
Seriously, how much blow did he do?
As a famous addict once said.....ALL OF IT!
The irony of LIV Golf during a human interest piece is peak Alanis Morrissette.
So neither Feherty or anybody else is going to address the elephant in the room... i.e. how did his nose and left eye get so F'd up? I guess most of us could surmise, but usually celebs hate when people speculate about it...
That swing still looks beautiful.
He’s got that collapsed nose like Artie Lange. Drugs are fun, but it takes a really strong mind to keep it in moderation. I’m not a fan of this LIV stuff, but I was always an AK fan back in his prime. I hope he finds happiness in this new chapter.
The guy is a freak.
Such a great interview between David and Anthony. Easily 10 times more transparent than Tiger woods will ever be about his life weaknesses.
It was always the belt buckles for me. Such gangster!!!
Its not just AK that had to deal with their demons. Tiger, Phil, JD, DJ and possibly a few more that had women, alcohol, drugs and gambling as their choice of vice. Trying to survive those dark days and still retain their skills at a high level speaks volumes of how elite their talents are.
He needs to find some honesty and lose the ego if he’s to achieve long term sobriety
He took a HUGE insurance policy and partied... He is lucky to be alive. Look at this guy. He s aged 30 years in 10.
I was always a huge fan of Anthony and his style. It’s so inspiring hearing him talk about his struggles, and how he’s facing them. Having been to the dark side myself, I’d love to hear more about his journey. Wishing him nothing but the best
What happened to his face like nose and eyes? That's not a look of what he was supposed to be
Just exciting to see AK again.
Well done LIV!we need more players like this on tour.
Last I saw him he was living in Dallas in a huge house, driving a Bentley and had an entourage. Now its a small house, quiet neighborhood, mini van...
Professional Golf comes with many things. Don't overlook the respect of tucking a shirt in. Be a Rebel on the Street , not the course.
I don’t know what’s more surprising. Him coming back or living in OKC.
Ak looks like a junkie. Sad sad look
dayum the guy looks hooked on drugs.
Huge respect for Mr Kim! What a Classy Guy.
See kids that’s what cocaine does to you. Don’t do drugs.
