  • I've finally got around to making a van tour of our self converted VW T4 camper.
Our design was planned to be as cosy and comfortable as possible for a winter trip around Scotland. We also wanted it to have a bright feel inside so we clad the whole interior in pale pine and used a pale plywood for all the cabinets. We added a swivel seat to make it feel more spacious inside, which was one of our favourite changes! We also added full electric and solar panels, running water and small sink and flat pull out bed.
I've included a rough floor plan with dimensions at the end of the video incase you're interested. And below is the link to my website where there is a photo of the floor plan you can enlarge and save if you want :)

Hi I'm Brook and this is my slow life outdoors in Wales ~ camper van | walking | nature | camping | eco living | the wild
I'm often accompanied by Brochan (my partner) and Floss (our dog)
I live in Wales and love to be outdoors whenever possible, from hiking in vast mountains to spending time amongst plants in my garden . I made this channel because I just love creating videos and wanted to share them with you. It's not so much about the highest mountain or getting the best view but about just enjoying the journey along the way and noticing small wonders in the wild 🌿

One of the best conversions I have seen, simple materials. I would and indeed have gone for a R&R bed and kept the twin passenger seat, which swivels and the dog sleeps on, but otherwise I agree. Simplicity is the key to success in any venture. We opted for no second battery system, or solar and have never needed it, but if you use a laptop you will..and the diesel heater too. So well done on a neat job.

Thank you! Yeah we considered all that but the single seat is so much comfier 😁 agree on the battery too but I needed it for editing and my camera. But we didn’t have any electronic system in our last conversion! Glad you liked it 😊

nice use of space. the 1st converted camper van video that's actually addressed where to hang wet coat when back from walk 10/10

Glad you think so 😁 Yes the coats issue was one of the main priorities when designing the van 😊 just a shame the walking boot space isn’t big enough for more than one pair! 😄

It looks practical and cosy. A few questions please: where is the diesel tank for the diesel heater? Where is the fridge? And 113 cm bed width for two people seems very narrow?

We connected the diesel heater directly to the diesel tank for running the van to save space. We don’t have a fridge as we wanted to cupboard space for storage. The bed width is up to personal preference really, we’ve been absolutely fine with it and preferred to have bigger cupboards over wider bed personally 😊
