I had very tight shoulder and triceps muscles which were adversely affecting my elbow which resulted in tennis elbow. Did indian clubs as part of the therapy and rehab and I have recovered from the tennis elbow issues and even grown stronger. This is a very good exercise for the shoulder and elbow if done properly. I have personally benefitted from the exercises and would definitely recommend Indian clubs. Please follow video instructions of Simon D Kehoe, Paul Taras Wolkowinski, IzzyBarish, Richard Maguire for reference. Even 1lb clubs are good because high repetitions can give enough workout to strengthen the arm and shoulder muscles and joints, more importantly. Any club above 2 lbs would require proper knowledge and mastering the technique to avoid injuries and control the torque generated by the circular motions. Happy clubbing!

I wish I had found this video years ago, but at least now I have a good starting point for trying to get mobility back in my left shoulder. Thank you for an excellent instructional video.

The spheric end at the bottom of the Indian club is called pommel.

I recently underwent a total laryngectomy requiring a muscle flap on my upper left chest.. underwent physical therapy. ok, but not as wonderful as the natural swinging, gravitational, centrifugal forces on my shoulder with clubs. Don't have machined clubs yet. just use 2 ft, 3 inch diameter debarked mountain juniper. less than 2#, but I'm getting hooked. Thanks. you are the first rehab person on clubs that I have pulled up on U tube.

Start with 1 lb for sure, the 2lb are bigger than you may think!

Ah I was looking for some exercising to help with a frozen shoulder. Cheers for this video. Though I will be seeing a physio after Christmas anyway. Hope you have a good Christmas and new year.

I screwed up my left elbow exercising too hard. I already have a couple sets of clubs, I'm going to try to work these in, thanks

Nice demo. I think clubs are more popular now. Interesting TH-cam put this in my queue. Are you still swinging Indian clubs?

Good stuff, I wished more therapists would open up to the idea of club swinging!

Good video, but to be fair, anyone with frozen shoulder would never get close to that range of motion.

@Colin Cleveland I tried it a while back -- daily for a few weeks. I saw a little improvement, but nothing to write home about. I think it really depends on what is causing the lack of ROM. I had my right labrum repaired in 2004 and never regained normal range and over the years it's been backsliding the other way.
