Would I be able to request a prop making episode for something simple like a foam sword but apartment edition? Like using only entry level hand tools someone living in an apartment could feasibly justify?
Ow, I had not realized just how much I missed Bill and Brit. 😭 Will share this one with my little niece, as she is CRAZY for Animal Crossing (almost as much as I am for foam-making)! ✨
Everytime a new video from you guys guys comes out, it involves me jumping 5ft into the air, and now I got to see the both of you guys in camera together after so long, I fell to my knees and thanked God. It's honestly good to see you guys again.
Whenever I watch one of your videos, I always get so inspire to create something for a new or current cosplay! Thanks for always encouraging and sharing your tips, tricks and skill with us!
I think this is one of my favorite builds that you guys have done because it's just so wholesome! They turned out great and I love the addition of the butterfly to the net! I also play this game and as soon as I could start making some good custom clothes I actually made a Punished Props sweater haha. Since then I've also made a maker shirt and some other stuff like an Evil Ted hoodie and a Hacksmith tank top haha. My villagers all seem to really enjoy them too!
One thumbs-up for a new Punished Props Academy Video! Two thumbs-up for Bill and Brit making stuff together!! Three thumbs-up for the Star Trek fight scene re-enactment!!! Today just went from a monday to A MONDAY!!!!!!
Loving the shovel, that's gotten me thinking of another cosplay idea i had but dropped ages ago. Might just pick it up now, with a modded version of your shovel (longer shaft, different handle) And I'm sure the net will come in handy.
I've been suffering from depression this summer from the pandemic and unable to make things. But when both my copy of Foamsmith 3 came in the mail today and you two made a new build video, I think that's a sign for me to keep going.
We're so happy to hear you're feeling inspired! Have so much fun on your next project, and please share what you make with us on Twitter: twitter.com/chinbeard - we'd love to see it!
THAT SPIDER-MAN COSPLAY HURTS MY HEART! Awesome to see more of Brit again! These builds were relaxing to watch! Except trying to get that pex into its slots, haha. Glad that worked out!
Glad to see another video you guys! This was a fun double header project. I'm sorry if this has been asked before but do you guys have a dream code for your Island? I'd love to be able to visit!
That was amazing and it was good to see Miss Britt back on the other side of the camera again, making things. And I absolutely loved the Spider Man cosplay you showed. Could you do a build video for that one? **grinz**
Love these videos! Did you guys play Ghost of Tsushima at all? I've wanted to make a few pieces of that armor as some cosplay like the Sakai Clan Armor or Gosaku's Armor.
YAY you're back! YAY Britt's making stuff! The intro was adorable, love watching y'all joke around while you make and problem solve ❤️ F for that drill bit tho
I wonder if you could use the inside of the handles for storing posters? Maybe a potential mod on this design using a poster tube would make these props dual purpose.
I missed seeing Brit in the episode. This is a really cute project. I have been toying with making some AC props but deciding on what is so hard. I want to make everything.
Super doable. One question though: how to get the best paint job on the pvc? Whenever I try it, it scratches right off. Sanding it tóó much messes up the nice sleek look. Do I need more layers of paint? A better lacquer/varnish? Or just accept that it won't be indestructible?
Sanding with a higher grit will reduce the damage to the surface, then you can use a filler primer to cover any remaining small scratches. A gloss lacquer should get you a lovely smooth finish!
There are silicone tubes used for pipe bending in water-cooling. you just powder them in cornstarch, pull them in the pipe with a string. then you can heat and bend it section by section. Wintergatan uses it on his channel to bend the pipes for his Marblemachine.
@@punishedprops should make the heating easier, since you don't have to heat up the sand and wait for it to cool down again. needs a bit of practice though. In one video he said that there's some surgical stuff that's cheaper than the watercooling one, or the other way round, can't remember.
Did you consider adding a key to the connection point between the handle and shaft of your shovel? Or is the connection free enough so that alignment wasn't a real concern? Great execution at any rate!
Thanks so much for watching! The tension fits well enough that it really doesn't move once you align it manually, but you could totally add a key if you wanted to!
Heavy body acrylics have a much thicker consistency, so I really like to use them for weathering - they do a great job of creating a more dimensional grit.
yay creating your own files :D. you can go to any hardware store and buy sandpaper and glue it to any wooden stick and create your own files in any size.
Old video or not, this is my first time seeing it. All I can think of during the "handle connector" smoothing, is a giant Bullet Bill from Super Mario. That would be incredibly awesome!
Bill's back building stuff!!!!! I'm only 2 minutes in and not really a fan of Animal Crossing but I don't care because Bill's building stuff!!!!! I'm so excited!
Great to see you build something again, even if I don't play Animal Crossing. Is PEX safer to heat up than PVC? I know PVC can release dioxin when heated too much, but I couldn't find out if PEX has the same problem.
Not particularly! A scroll saw can obviously help you with more detailed lines and corners, but I almost exclusively use my band saw and can refine later with other tools as needed,
I've actually not gotten to play Animal Crossing at all, but it's so ubiquitous, that I might just do this as a casual cosplay, hopefully next year, if the cons are back.
Punished Props Academy It’s so cool that you guys do what you love for a living! A true dream! I’m an aspiring cosplayer, and you guys inspire me to keep going even though times are tough! Stay awesome :)
Fun video and great to see both of you working on the same side of the camera! Really nice to watch both of your approaches and techniques. Also, although I'm not super familiar with Animal Crossing, its so cool to see a different style of prop compared to the usually more realistic props you do. Nice work you two!
Hi Bill, hi Brit. Im wanting to make a mask that fits to my face, but I can't afford silicon or plaster. Do you have any cheap alternatives to making a personalized face form?
I need to replace my rotary tool, the one I have is cheap and the engine is burning out. Recommendations? Also I adore these tools they came out so cute! Also I have never laughed harder than I did at the Spiderman Cosplay.

I like when you two are on camera together. You guys are adorable.
Awww thanks :)
I was thinking the same thing.
Lol
It would be fun to make a fossil and add magnets into the shovel and fossil so you can scoop up the fossil.
Awesome job as always so cute!
That would be so cute!

Aww wonderful! Tell her we say hi!
The animal crossing version of your shop was great. I love a good pvp glue fight.
The hottest sport of 2020!
"0 days without glitter" same 😂 I missed Brit so much 💜 it's nice to see her in camera again
Thanks very much!
They're so cute! I love the way Brittany's daft little butterfly bobbles around
Isn't it delightful?
So pumped to see you both building!!! Perfect way to start out the week, Thanks guys!
Thanks for always lending us your support!
Punished Props Academy PP fan for life!!

😂
Had to pause and share this vid to that time stamp with some friends as soon as I saw it. Too funny!

We had lots of fun :) Glad it comes through!
Brit!! So cool to see and hear you. You are so talented...the butterfly is brilliant! More of both you guy, please.
Aww thanks so much!
I've missed seeing Brit on camera. You two are adorable
Aww shucks, thanks so much :)
Great job, guys! Glad to see you use sand filler for the pipe bending - even if it was poor ol' Spidey!
Thanks very much!
i love seeing you both on camera together, you're so cute! :D
love the props, they're great!
Aww thanks!
So glad to see you both on camera!
And the butterfly was such a good add!
Thanks so much!
So much good! The floating butterfly is the perfect addition!
Isn't it cute?
My favorite part of the butterfly is that it's uncatchable. So frustratingly fun!
One thumbs-up for a new Punished Props Academy Video!
Two thumbs-up for Bill and Brit making stuff together!!

Today just went from a monday to A MONDAY!!!!!!
AWWWWWWWWW YEEEAAAAAAAAH!!!
Well done Bill and Brit top work and such enthusiasm in delivery.
Thanks so much!
Excellent seeing you both on screen again!
Thanks so much for watching :)
Watching your videos is definitely the best part of the quarantine, it's awesome to watch the senseis in action again! :D
Aw you're too kind! We're so glad we can make it a little better
It's so good to see you guys working together! So much wholesomeness! Great video! 💖

Heck yeah!
@@punishedprops Gonna take me a while to get the right foam and pipe, but soon as it's done I'll try and get a photo to yas.
The grip of the shovel can be modified and used for the slingshot.

We have not, but it looks beautiful!
Love watching you two together!

I don't even make props or play video games, but these cartoonish proportions are so cute :) nice work!
Aren't they so fun? Hard not to get a kick out of them :)

This is THE MOST WHOLESOME video you guys have made!
Awww, we're so glad you think so :)
For anyone who is yet to start painting his 1st ever prop, what is the difference between the heavy body acrylics versus the basics acrylic?
Heavy body acrylics have a much thicker consistency, so I really like to use them for weathering - they do a great job of creating a more dimensional grit.
This was just delightful. Wonderful work as always.

Hey I was wondering. How do you shape eva foam into a curved shape with out that anvil thing you have?
Great to see you build something again, even if I don't play Animal Crossing.
Is PEX safer to heat up than PVC? I know PVC can release dioxin when heated too much, but I couldn't find out if PEX has the same problem.
I'm not sure! Either way it's always a best practice to avoid overheating materials whenever possible
With cutting foam in various thicknesses is there any difference between a bandsaw or a scroll saw?

LOL it took me a second but that Infinity War Spider-Man bucket is one of the best Easter Eggs I've ever seen. Also, great builds!

Awwww that intro was so cute!
So glad you enjoyed it!
They do make a clear PVC adhesive.
Oh neat!
That intro was adorable
Gaaww thanks :)
Yaaay Britt's back in the video! 💕
❤
Have you tried using a hot wire to cut the foam?
I haven't. The foam tends to shrink away from head so rather than a nice clean edge you get a warped one.
Ahhhhh I’d missed these videos.
Where do you get your hats, Bill?
I think I just got this one from Amazon

25:18 exactly the same idea i had looking at that a rod all the way threw and flush at the ends for a rigid connection
edit: spelling
It worked really well!
Bill should make himself a big blue foam fossil to say he dug up and then look around for blathers
