Steve, I continue to be amazed by your sheer talent with painting. Foam prop making is an art in itself, but your paintjobs elevate your pieces far above the rest. This one is especially impressive. Just watching this video was insanely satisfying. Amazing work.
Would absolutely LOVE to see you do a Doom Guy build, even just the helmet from Doom Eternal would be so cool! Not to mention that color green you used for this would be a really good fit. Loving the vids man keep up the great work 👍🏻
Amazing as always!!! love watching you paint the layer after layer, same as when I do them it is very calming at least to me watching the piece take on its own life, and gaining a history.
You always present some amazing paint jobs, love your work and i m trying to use your techniques with what i can use on my country you are a great inspiration for me...btw that dirty down spray looks like magic :0
Interesting. In model making, wash would be called a filter. Filter goes over the whole surface, slightly changing the base layer tone. Wash (pin wash) would be more contolled application, done as a fake shadow of a sort.
@@SKSProps i actually did not know that, i have only even heard of foamsmithing in the last few months and have looked up every youtuber i can find mainly you, evil ted and Kamui. All three have gotten me so excited about the craft i am currently making a thief/assassin costume for my daughter and a musketeer one for me.
Thanks! Not really just plugging away at youtube. I was recently diagnosed with extremely high blood pressure so I have been having to step back a bit and get that under control. I will be attending a few cons next year and will post when they get closer
You're adding it to thick, notice in my videos I just dust it across the surface to get a base color. Most of the actual paints applied are the acrylics because they flex
Just do acrylic washes it's basically the same thing but in a conveient spray. and no I don't ever clear coat my props or costumes. I personally think that is one of the biggest mistakes most people do because it kills all of the various matte and gloss paints you have applied
Check out more of my complete builds, walkthroughs, and HD-Foam at www.SKSProps.com
The color technique and outcome looks so damn good. The dirty down added so much life to the armor too, it's just 😗👌
Thank you!
This same base concept with different colors would be a cool Captain America/Fallout crossover
Make it! 🙌
This is fantastic! Would love to see more Fallout builds!
Thank you very much!

Thank you so much 😀
I love the effect graphite powder gives!
Having matte, gloss, shine, grunge all in one piece really gives the prop something special
@@SKSProps its a complete prop. Are you going to do more of the costume?
@@HawkWorley I might do a few more parts to a costume
Your panting technqiue is literally top tier ngl! I could never believe this was made of foam if I didnt watch your video!
Thank you very much!!
You are by far one of my favorite cosplay channels. Your designs and tutorials are so approachable and you seem so kind.
Thank you and Happy Holidays!
Thank you very much! I'm glad you like the content 🙌
Damn, Steve! what an amazing paint job! I will def be using these techniques. Thank you for sharing!
Awesome! Glad I could share some techniques 🙌

So..many..layers... So many layers! It's incredible!
Thank you! The power of paint!

Thank you very much gald you enjoy the process!
That is so cool! Love your rust and weathering
Thank you very much!
Just wanted to thank you for this. I wanted to paint my rifle to look like a rusted out piece of junk and this is exactly the look im looking for.
You’re welcome! 🙌
Man! your painting is a work of art!
Thank you! I did go to school for illustration so I better be able to paint well 😂
A fantastic paint up and tutorial for rust.
Thank you very much Wayne!
Absolutely gorgeous, as always, my guy.

I’ve painted miniatures for over 20 years and I’ve never heard a wash called a “filter” maybe it’s an overseas term.
@@SKSProps well, to be specific, term used in scale models(planes, vehicles etc)
Dude that looks like real metal, awesome. Your stuff looks like it was made from a 3d printer.
Thanks! Lots and lots of hours in the shop!
This came out so good!
Thank you!
Thank you so much for this. I've got a project coming up thay I need to put some rusty metal on.
Awesome! Glad I could help 🙌
I love what you're doing with such simple materials! Can you do a Han Solo DL-44 blaster prop video please!
this techniques are insaneee!!!
Thank you very much!
Love the realism!
Thank you!
@@SKSProps you are welcome 😄
My hat is off to you. If you slip that armour off, I'd expect it to 'clang' when you drop it on the floor!
Ha! Thank you so much! 🙌
More Fallout props please!
Maybe just have to wait and see
This is insane great job 😮
Fantastic as always bro 😎
Can you make dr fate helmet from black adam movie I really liked the design
Man you make this look so easy I’ve tried weathering a flintlock pistol and it just looks like a giant blotch on the “ wood”
Remember I’ve been painting for 30+ years 👍

Great work man !
Thanks a lot!
Can you do a tutorial on how to make the detail pieces of the vault suit
Just. Amazing. 😮 I'm wondering if you have any bigger project of your own coming up? No conventions?
Thanks! Not really just plugging away at youtube. I was recently diagnosed with extremely high blood pressure so I have been having to step back a bit and get that under control. I will be attending a few cons next year and will post when they get closer
Lol I see what you did there, great tutorial! Can't wait for the next one.
Thanks!
very helpful
Glad you like it!
I hope you'll be able to do a video making Amazon's The Boys like Black Noir.🤩😍
More power to you sir!
I’m making a superhero chest right now could be modified for multiple characters
Change the design a little bit and you’ve got the Armour from Aliens .
On my list at some point
Or the smartgun harness
Amazing
Thanks!
Hey can you please make a life size Itachi's susanoo hanging out at back 🙏
I usually don’t take requests because I’ve already got a loooong list of things I plan to make
Did you spray the Dirty Down into water, as opposed to directly on the piece?
No, directly on the piece. Water is just dirty from the acrylics
Can you make a full chainsawman who is a fully demonic form?
- How many layers?
* Yes
lots and lots and lots of layers
Paint makes the prop!
When i use primer on foam after plastidip for me my foam cracks easily when I bend it a lot - does that happen for you?
You're adding it to thick, notice in my videos I just dust it across the surface to get a base color. Most of the actual paints applied are the acrylics because they flex
@@SKSProps thank you!
did you change your HD Foam? the stuff I ordered this year looks(and smells) different than the stuff I ordered last year
Nope, Haven’t changed anything since the very first order
what could i use istead of the dirt down spray? And do i have to seal everything at the end with clear coat?
Just do acrylic washes it's basically the same thing but in a conveient spray. and no I don't ever clear coat my props or costumes. I personally think that is one of the biggest mistakes most people do because it kills all of the various matte and gloss paints you have applied
@@SKSProps Thank you for ur answers :) im gonna make my first fallout cosplay soon and your tutorials are so insightful
Are you sure this is foam and you didn't find this around Boston in 2287?
Paint makes the prop! 🙌
Are you done selling borderlands masks?
Yeah, the molds are dead and I just don't have the time to make individual props anymore. That is why I have refocused to teaching others how to craft
@@SKSProps Aww, that's a shame would have loved to pick one up. ton respect for taking the time to teach others!
