The Blood Angels Tactical Squad set has a ton of useful stuff, shoulderpads, weapons, Mk. IV, Mk. V, Mk. VI ... and most of the rest can be used to make artificer armour"!
So a kit with some okay bits for Emperors children is the 40k Raptors. The heads could look okay on Palatine Blades as sonic shriekers and the jump packs with some work could fit nicely on them too.
Great video- I’ve already used several of these models for conversions, and others were on my radar for future work (I was just about to order the FW Huron model for his claw and head). Thanks for the attention you bring to not only the things that GW/FW do that are less than stellar, but to things we can do to keep enjoying the things that they’ve done right- no matter how long ago they might have been.
I've just used the librarian from killteam Cassius for an esoterist for my Blackshields, of course with some head and arm changes, but I definitely recommend that box for consuls.
The thought of the guitar player Emperor’s Childern as a Legion Consol ripping out command riffs on his Ax made laugh, in a good way. I got that figure. It's too cool!
Exactly what i needed Macca! Diving in to the heresy officially and ive been having a blast! Excited for the third party parts guide, need a better go for my world eaters!
Such little options for my boys the Iron Warriors, sadly. I'll definitely use some IH MKIII bodies though, I can already see that looking great in Iron Warriors
This was actually very inspiring. I'm a very good painter if I can say so however not that creative to really go wild with unique schemes let alone kitbashing itself. So having something like this really made me think..
I'm on a bit of a character spree at the moment, so this video came at the perfect time for me. Turned Chronus into Castrmen Orth already and made Xiaphas Jurr from the old Cassius model. Alvarex Maun is next, and then Meduson - the Deathwatch IH looks great for that, thanks for the idea!
I actually just built a Raven Guard praetor from the sm command squad chapter master. Shaved off the eagle off the right leg, cut off the bulletchain, gave him a dark fury pack, head and shoulders and a pair of SoH Reaver chainaxes. Going to run them as a paragon blade just because it looks cool.
I've used Hurons power claw arm for an Atramentar conversion using the Calth terminator praetor mixed with chaos terminator bits, makes for a great late heresy 40k conversion
I have to laugh I once saw a guy who misread "Fabius Bile" as "Fabulous Bill" and ever since then I can't help but think of him as that whenever I see him
I was kinda dissapointed that you didn't mention severin loth. You get cool ass librarian, honour guard with big ass power axes that could be used for any legion consul. Used that kit for my 30k night lords and now I got 2 legion consuls, 2 librarians (took mk3 parts and honour guard torso with the power axe + severin loth) and 3 cool as marines
During the heresy, do the legions mix parts of different power armour patterns? Example, mark iii plus a mark six helmet or something like that? Thanks
There is an example of mark 4 mixed with mark 3 in the books, but it's explicitly mentioned being an exception (and hellishly hard to pull off). Parts from mark 2 and 3 are interchangeable with each other. The same is generally true for parts of mark 4, 5 and 6.
I'm working away on a few word bearers, likely will be just used for 40k but am building them with an eye towards being usable in 30k if the opportunity ever arises. Word Bearers get lots of love but converting models is fun too, I'm going using the the mace wielding chaos space marine from Dark Vengeance for my Dark Apostle, just going to fill in some of the damage on the piping to tone down on the mutated organic feel. The various other CSM models from that set seem like they'll make great characters. Going for a very towards the end of the heresy vibe so an assortment of armour and weapon marks, whatever is working is getting used.
I know this is a big armour elitist point, but the jump pack types on the Cassius guys are explicitly post-heresy. Just pointing that out for those who want 100% heresy accuracy (I wouldn't stop you playing one of them or even remark upon it, but some purists might).
Anither thing you can do with company command is just drill small holes ikto their legs, arms and helmets and sitck ball bearings in them and boom you have a factory MK5 character
Well not quite, molecular bonding studs were used as quick battlefield repairs on damaged armour, it doesn't mean mk5 but it does give your model a bit more character.
Now these are my personal favourite type of Outer Circle videos.
Just the video I needed - my group's doing a Secret Sanguinala and we're exchanging Consuls for each others' Legions

Same with nightlords
@@Coproquim Yup. The chainswords and power sword from the kit also looks great for Nightlords.
Could save the swords and pistols for Assault Squad

Sounds good, I really like that box and I'm glad Macca has recommended it.

Glad to see this series come back.
The kill team Cassius box is so good
Exactly what i needed Macca! Diving in to the heresy officially and ive been having a blast! Excited for the third party parts guide, need a better go for my world eaters!
If you combine the vanguard and sternguard kits, you also get a complete suit of decorative mk4 perfect for a character in artificer
This is the best kind of outer circle video. I like my sodium intake as much as the next guy but this is why I'm subbed to the channel.
Such little options for my boys the Iron Warriors, sadly. I'll definitely use some IH MKIII bodies though, I can already see that looking great in Iron Warriors
One thing that the Iron Warriors and Imperial Fists can agree on, there's not much for us in terms of customization
I will probably use some of my spare mechanicus bits on the plastic praetor
Thanks so much for this info. Been wanting to start Heresy for a while and this helps motivate me. Cheers.
Forge World dose have a marine with a terminator torso. Also, the Dark Angels veteran set has tons of bits in it

So the Crux of this video is just use your imagination haha
How would the basic chaos space marine box fair? Fill and file away some of the more chaotic elements maybe.
A great video question the current loyalist terminators are they good for HH scraping off the crux terminators?
Indomitus right

Would be nice if you could show pics of your models in the video when you bring them up
I'm a fan of the red scorpions magister and his retinue all In stylised mk 4
Excellent for Word Bearers.
Though personally I do think that the bodyguard/ retinue could make either great World Eaters or Iron Warriors.
Edited.
I've picked up a few of these kits for just this reason; I love how they get brain churning! But of course, Macca is only ever negative.........😆

Could you do a video about the different variants of heresy armour that was seen like the ultra one, Sarum and the thousand sons ones etc

Great 👍 vid thanks 😊
There's nothing wrong with the champions shoulder pads, they're just up-armoured MK6
You still white scaring? What happened to your raven guard?
Sold the Raven Guard 5 or so years back, the Scars a year ago, and right now playing smurfs mostly.
Do you have any ideas for imperial fists Horus heresy conversions.

Making it real hard to not start getting into Horus heresy before the box gets here mate
i still dont get how to mark squads ;(

Watching this video has made me realise how out of touch with 40k I am. Only recognised about half of those figures
J is pronounced as a Y in Nordic languages btw, Njal is pronounced N-yal
No, it is not.
@@Grubnar I mean, almost without exception it is. I have family members named Njal and it's pronounced "ne-yal"
lol, thinking your the first person to use Jetek in 30k
Are you going soft? ^^
>$110
Man am I glad I don't buy models anymore.
