The Empire: Founded by a dude that sounds like Conan mixed with Richard Wagner's characters. HRE politics, with even more confusion and civil wars. National motto that sounds like something from 16th Century Spain (God, Steel and Gunpowder). Somehow least racist in comparison with nearby nations. A good pack of nations, indeed.
The Tomb Kings, known as the Priest Kings in their former lives, are the undying rulers of Nehekhara, an ancient Human civilisation that formed a great and powerful empire some two thousand five hundred years before the birth of Sigmar Heldenhammer and the founding of the Empire. Out of all the unliving creatures that would claim dominion and royalty over the dead, only the Tomb Kings could truly claim such masterful and undisputed sovereignty. For they had once ruled a mighty and far-flung empire during a time when the rest of Mankind were little more than savage barbarians. Long ago, during an ancient and forgotten age, Nehekhara stood as a shining beacon of civilisation and Human achievement; a golden age when its cities shone with a majestic splendour, its buildings crafted from magnificent marble and limestone, its armies capable of conquering entire kingdoms. In this long-lost age, Nehekhara's mighty rulers reigned as living gods amongst men. But this great realm was destroyed millennia ago through acts of great treachery and powerful sorcery. The living of Nehekhara perished long ago in a single, mournful night, and in their absence, the dead stirred from their graves and claimed the land anew. Even as their ancient civilisation now lies buried beneath the sand, its once verdant plains turned to searing desert and their mighty and glorious empire fractured and in ruin, the Tomb Kings have once more awoken from their deep sleep. Rising from their decrepit sarcophagi, the mummified rulers of Nehekhara awoke with eyes of burning balefire, their thirst for power, conquest and vengeance just as strong in death as in life. They have returned to reclaim that which is rightfully theirs, their legions innumerable, rising up from the scorching sand brandishing weapons of polished bronze and priceless gold. Ancient, emotionless and spiteful to all those that have slighted them, woe betide those foolish enough to stand before their silent onslaught.
Correction: The Bretonni did not worship the Lady in the time of Sigmar, it was in the dark age of Bretonnia hundreds of years after sigmar that the Lady would appear to Gilles the Uniter, making him the first Grail Knight. On another note, love your video, earned a subscriber, hope to see more like this, and perhaps a Bretonnian one once you realise that faction is more than you see at face value (like literally every faction in warhammer fantasy rly)
I hope to see a video like this for Eatalia and Tilea one day. Here's to hoping GW will flesh those two out a bit more. Because personally I've always seen Tilea as the "heavy armor and equipment for our mercs" to Estalia's "no armor duelists and Conquistadors drawn from our population looking for a excuse to fight"
I just discovered this channel, awesome video, glad to see more lore videos covering the world of Warhammer fantasy (the brettonian slander is something i don't really agree with, but I do understand where you are coming from due to the way theyre often presented, WITHOUT THE MORTIFYING FAE CREATURES THAT SHOULD BE FIGHTING ALONGSIDE THEM, WHERE ARE THEY GW!!!! WHERE ARE THE NAYADS AND KELPIE KNIGHTS!!!!? That and making the Lady the completely wrong godess instead of the established one in the endtimes pretty much sealed their fate)
the old world lives on!...in my head so far superiour to AOS or even most fantasy worlds it has endless interesting factors at play where as so many fantasy worlds are one note and or ending by the end of their first entry eg lotr basicly becoming the human world after the events of the book where as old world is just brimming with potential new stories
Lately I'm reading the trilogy of Wielstadt, and I am always imagining Warhammer's Empire's fantasy side to be what fits into this rendition of the HRE
12:45 what is that supposed to be? A rat man? How ridicolous! ='D No but on a serious note, as a big Warhammer Fantasy Empire enjoyer (as you should be as a German! =D) this was a great video, all the important information + a good sense of humour. Just two things: First, im not sure if Sigmar left east because he wanted to "return Ghal Maraz" I never heard of that as the reason. Second, when U showed the chaos gods, I think its better for someone who doesnt know about them to say the names in the order you show them from left to right, but thats a small thing. Like I said, great and interesting video, maybe next time with some footage from Total War Warhammer when U talk about the units? =D
The HRE its main inspiration remained that way because of Geopolitics, the HRE was huge and in a less developed Swamp and Forrest land compared to France, Intitially being part of the Frankish Empire both developed a Voting system but France having a more developed region soon abandoned it, The HRE on the otherhand had a long Tradition of Electing a successor to the Emperor, as the Imperial Princes had a lot of say and it slowly developed into the Imperial Diet and Tradition.
Great video bro, can tell you know your stuff with the original artwork from the Battletomes and RPG's, got a subscribe from me as it taught me something I really don't know enough about
@sfbismarck9537 Franz has as an origin the name Franciscus, in latin, which can mean the franks, or the frenchmen. And Charles was a common name of the french monarchy. All of this to point out how the Empire has elusive roots in France as well, just like the late era Holy Roman Empire does
Good video But skaven propably are not directly chaos creatures the are their own thing and they joined chaos forces only in end times and age of sigmar
You mean the Imperium? this is honestly such a weird lost colony. Knife ears, Squats, Orks and other xenos? Living on the same planet? Guess the Inquisitor isn't headbutting the Exterminatus button with enough zeal.
I think WFB had better lore becaue it's fundamentally easier to write fantasy there are so many great fantasy books that go into detail helping writers flesh out something unique but familiar. but with 40k it's a bit more challenging, sci fi tends to be more epic, world spanning and it's all about great big stories and great big events. yes fantasy does a LOT of this, but fantasy does spend a lot of time in the dirt. Sci fi doesn't really do that. but then why would you wanna spend a lot of time in the dirt when an event in a planet seems so small in fantasy, a planetary event just means the end. in 40k, it's just another bad day, hour even.
Please American people learn a little bit more about French history, just because you heard a story about Irak you guys think French are cowards… crazy to tell this when we helped to get independance, and the biggest military victories ever in History…
It doesn't matter you frenchies surrendered to the German for that you shall be remembered you should have been like the Russians where they never gave up
@ but we never gave up, the French resistance allowed the D Day, saved many lives, helped allies intelligence. That’s shy you need to shut it before talking you ignorant cunt
You argument how warhsmmer fantasy is better than 40k yet you are unable to articulate the names of the chaos god that is present in both, along with other key characters. Leading me to beleave you are a poser riding the warhammer train.
Hey guys I hope you enjoy the video. Took a lot of time and effort. If you like it please like, subscribe, and comment below. Thanks.
You are wrong, the bigger empire is cathay
Just saw this video I’m a big fan of Warhammer Fantasy. Here’s a sub and a like
You re a poser, see my other comment.
Pros of living in the Warhammer Fantasy world: You can see the sun.
Cons: The moon can see you.
Warhammer Fantasy: Emperor has an actual Warhammer
Warhammer 40k: Emperor has little to no warhammers
Welp we all know which IP is superior now.
What's even better is that the Emperor in Fantasy doesn't just have a Warhammer. He has THE Warhammer that Warhammer is named after.

If the creators of Warhammer Fantasy actually knew how guns worked, the empire-dwarf alliance would ROFL stomp the chaos invasions every single time.
Lol then you haven't heard of the skaven who brought ww1 in Warhammer fantasy and they have fucking nukes
Do Guns have the ability to throw a fucking meteor on the battlefield or transmute half the enemy army into lead? Didnt think so.
Lol, yeah right, keep dreaming dude.
why don't they know? thye do use guns, and they take a lot of stuff into acount
Stupid man thing thing, he no idea of of gatling yes yes
The WFB Empire was so overpowered GW had to pull a retcon to beat them
Eh... They had been having Empire troops as the worfs for other factions, like in the old unit trailers in Total War: Warhammer.
You are the first person that I could find that actually tried to explain the politics in the empire, very cool
Fantasy coming BEFOE 40K actually makes so much sense now. I wondered why 40K had no hammer, but Fantasy did.
This video deserves more recognition! Sigmar wills it!
