Very slick review,I bought myself a 765 rs after riding sport bikes for 20 years, best alround road pakage I have ever ridden, puts a smile on my face every ride, and at 58 years old I think I’ve found my keeper
Owned an aprilia tuono and an mt10 before my 17 765rs. It's the best balanced and most transparent motorcycle I've ever ridden. As far as learning to become a better rider, there's no better bike on the marker in my experience
Cheers LCR, This is the best bike review I have ever seen. Why? The way you kept cutting the video between the bikes gave a really good distinction between the various exhaust notes and If I am honest I am a complete slag for a good exhaust note!!!
People compare the MT09 and Street Triple but I just don't know how. Street Triple RS is a precision track bike, MT09 is the ultimate street hooligan machine. Two different bikes for two different purposes.
There isn't enough difference between the 2 for the average rider to worry about. One costs a little more and may be a little smoother but you're not making a mistake with buying either one. You're going to have the same great time on either and if money means absolutely nothing to you the the Brutale is included too
Yamaha's MT-09 developer called it a "roadster motard" (per Wikipedia under the model info). That's a bit different than a naked sportbike with handlebars, which is more what the Street Triple RS is doing. Yet I'd prefer the low end grunt of the Yamaha a bit more.
All excellent bikes. For wheelies , commuting and touring Yamaha MT 09. (also saving money and don't lose that much in performance) For wheelies, light commuting and touring, but excellent at the track , Triumph Street Triple RS. For wheelies, track only, weekend only, MV Agusta Brutale 800rr (you can also just put in inside your house, and stare at it all day long). All excellent machines, can't go wrong with any of them.
Great video, well done! I'm tall so I'm loving the riding position of the MV. I had a quick ride on an F4 a while back and fell in love with the MV stance!
3 Mega bikes with complete different positions and 3 different amazing engines. I bought the MT-09 SP, because it's for ME a hell of fun machine with superb price. It's not "perfect" like the Triumph, but I call character. They are all winners... 3 zylinder engines are so nice in sound, fueling and reving fast. 4 are just build for racetracks, where is always power needed in the top. No fun at street I think :)
Nice review there, I am a triumph man at heart, but ended up with the MT09. Cracking bike for the money. I got the standard one and threw some maxton suspension on it. Goes and handles like a dream now and cost less than an SP overall :)
Funny, yesterday I test rode the Street triple 765RS, I have always loved the look of them , i should say, my last bike for a few years was a V Strom, i found the higher pegs and lack of wind protection detracted from the experience, couldn't fault the bike, but found i was riding slower on the triumph than the v strom. i then went to ride an MT09 at different dealer, it was out on loan, so i took out the MT10, it blew me away, the ridng position was similar to the v strom, but what a machine, best mix of comfort and mental power i have experienced. i also found the quick shifter a little clunky on the triumph, but smooth on the MT10, i think it depends on the revs at time of gear change. sadly it has left me craving the yamaha which i can;t afford.
Just a bit late to the party, don't know how I missed this vid. Looks fun. Heart would say the Brutale, it just looks & sounds so nice but in the real world for everyday riding it would have to be the MT or Triumph. If I was after a triple, it would probably be the Triumph as it looks like the best all round package.
10:28 it's 1000% accurate. I thought i've made a mistake purchasing MV as daily commute. But now i'm going for Brutal commute everyday cause this bike is so fun to ride if you know it's character
The color on the Brutale is amazing. I just bought a 2018 MT09 non sp, I am definitely looking to upgrade the suspension and I have the quick shifter ordered as it’s not stock in the US for some reason.... other than the suspension I LOVE THIS BIKE
celz olsen, really? Well I better cancel my order and re-think this I figured it would be best/easiest to go with the factory plug and play equipment. Thanks for the info
Jason Critchell is my favorite snapper. His stuff is gorgeous... Thanks for showing us some behind the shoot for PB. I love the mag man. It’s just still epic goodness.
Brilliant work Chops your editing is top class sah!👏👏 Hanging around with these lowlife journalists is paying dividends mate,if you could get the best of all of these three you’d have the perfect bike 👍🏻😎
Thanks Nelly really appreciate that matey 👍 yeah all great bikes and in the end after a spirited ride back to PB hq really bonded with the MV. But came away from the day with a bit of a hankering for the Street Triple, lovely bike.
I have been seriously thinking about a Brutale. I hate to say but these two videos on the triples has me pulling away from the MV. I absolutely love the look of the bike but, if I have to drive 4 hours to the nearest dealer, I have to completely love it. After watching these, I dot know if I am willing to take that chance now. Anyway, you're videos are great. Informative and entertaining. Thanks!
Thanks JD, its special without question but far from perfect with its annoyances. If you can put up with them it is a lot of fun and sounds truly amazing
Always thought ST looked weird. like a praying mantis with googly eyes until i went to see it at a dealer and fell in love with it. MV Brutale is just drop dead gorgeous up close but id be scared it would be expensive to run just like most things (flesh or metal) that are drop dead gorgeous:p
Great video Chops, and it was all filmed in my area! I live about 3 miles from that bridge, it is a rite of passage to launch your car off it, I haven't dared on my bike though! Keep up the great videos.
I own a 2014 street triple r and have always been wondering if it is worth upgrading to the new rs. I have been telling myself it isn't worth it, but this review is making it harder to keep believing that. Keep up the great work!
Slade Renegade i have 2014 standard and tried RS last year to see if it was worth the upgrade. I upgraded mine with quickshifter, end bar mirrors, led blinkers, tail tidey, and a couple of other goodies. The money I would lost due to trade would be too much in comparison to the gain. Your R is 85% percent of RS. I am waiting for 2020 when new Euro5 norm comes out, then if engine update won't make bike better, but lamer (as many suspect) then I'll get the last of Euro4 RS. Although the Dragster version of Brutale WILL be tested :)
I'm a little envious of the, shall we say, 'spirited' riding you're able to enjoy on the open roads in the UK. Here in Australia the roads are so heavily policed and the emphasis on giving tickets for even the most minor of speed limit infringements has meant the end of a lot of motorcycling's enjoyment. It's even starting to impact going about your normal business where a moments inattention, not on the road ahead but to the the signage, can mean you miss a speed limit change and only realise when you get the red 'n blues flashing or you receive an infringement notice in the mail (the HWP no longer have to pull you over, they can simply record the offence and issue the ticket automatically). The situation is compounded by the fact we have 40, 50. 60, 70, 80, 90, 100km/h limits and some stretches of road can display 2 or 3 of them over just a few kms often switching back and forth. Rant over, great review guys.
This is what i love .... an honest unbiased test thrash from the chops.... excellent reviews mate might be chopping in my 09 standard for the sp 👌 those olins 😍
He commented about MT09 -"It's so easy to push the horn...". I've been riding MT09 for almost a year now and still can't find the bloody thing when its required.
You kept me up watching...I'm not even interested in a new bike ;) 5 star review out of 5, great job Chops ! Pb found the right guy ! BTW the MV looks just awesome from behind the bars !
I would prefer the z900 in terms of looks alone because we're spoiled for choice when it comes to amazing motorcycles. Lets face it all these are probably great and we can just get what we like without really worrying.
Great video gents! Struggling between the Duke 790 or Brutale 800. As great as the Triumph is, I cannot get passed the bug eyes (Too bad really as with a sexier/meaner look it would be simply superior). Please talk me out of the Brutale!!
Thanks Jon, you don't realise the work which goes on to these shots amazed me when I started with them . So much work for a couple of pages in the mag really.
How did you find the front end on the damp roads mate? The one I test rode was set so soft I couldn't quite judge.... Love the riding position and looks of the yam but can't decide on a used RS or new 09 or R Street lol
I own a 2016 Dragster RR, 2010 street triple r, 2014 street triple r and a 2018 street triple RS. I've also ridden my friends FZ-09 many times.I own 4 Triumphs, but Comparing these bikes is ridiculous. To start Put them side by side and the finish between these models isn't even close. I need to carry a red rope with me everyone I stop for gas with the mv. The RS is nice and finished but not nearly the"wow" factor as the MV. Sorry, the fz-09 isn't even in the same league with all the cheap plastic and simplistic styling. Engine wise neither the RS or FZ can come close to the 800 of the MV. The triumph is smooth and predictable (which isn't a bad thing), the FZ is super torquey and tons of fun, but the 800 of the MV is like a wild horse whenever it's released. The engines are all totally different but the thrill goes to the MV. As far as suspension, the triumph has a great edge. What a refined machine. The MV comes in close second one you adjust the suspension. And forget about the FZ with out a complete suspension change. The maintenance costs are going to be far less on the FZ and triumph due to less power and the"Italian" maintenance... Lol. As far as these bikes go I disagree with your rating. There is something called"personality" of a bike. The MV is a lifestyle and personality. My friend got rid of his dragster RR and got an Aprilla Factory. He misses the MV and is always commenting how he wants another. I rode his bike on a ride and after, I told him"what a beautiful riding bike, but I wouldn't trade it for my MV. The only thing he said was"I know." Hell, I prefer riding my 2010 striple r over the 2014 r and 2018 RS even though both machines are more refined. There is something about a feel of a bike that can't be replaced.
I forgot to put into my post...I wouldn't hesitate to buy any of these bikes if I were in the market in their prospective price range. They are all great bikes
So... You've dumped money into 3 street triples? Why? And you know the Yamaha is an 847 and the MV an 800 right? So saying there's no way the Yamaha can touch it sounds kind of stupid. Any review you ever watch about the MV says it's electronic throttle system is a deal breaker. Idk man ya kinda just sound like a jackass.
Great review chops. I have ridden both the MT and the Triumph and love them both but they are becoming a bit common now... MV looks and sounds amazing. Could clutch and hard suspension not be tinkered with to improve... And if this was done surely it would be pushing an 8 or 8.5 no?
Yes but didn't you have the Dragster ? Same bike I know.. I know what you mean ,after 2500 miles the starter clutch on my 15 plate Brutale RR is playing up & the dealer network had gone to shit...so this could cost me a shedload of cash. BTW how is the Tuono?
@@LambChopRides sounds like you really don't get this bike , and mechanically, it has much higher end components than the triumph and yam.You mentioned it felt quicker, this is because of the flickability into corners, thanks to Moto GP standard counter rotating crankshaft. The quicksilver and downblipper is by far the best of the 3. I own a stripple and after riding the brute RR, I'm trading in. Now, electronically, the dash may not be as modern as the stripple or as up to date as the yam, but it does have fully customisable rider modes. +1 for being able to modify sport mode :) anyhow, sounds like you really preferred the stripple and it's completely understandable, it's just a little boring and predictable. Each to his own I suppose They're all great bikes.
I haven’t ridden an MV so can’t comment on the ride but if looks matter then the MV wins followed by the Street with the MT09 some way behind in my opinion, but looks are subjective. Strange because I think the MT10 looks great.
I love my Street Triple R, and i loved the 2018 FZ09 too, but i did not like the seat on it. The triumph has a much better seat and seating position. I felt like i had to ride the tank on the yamaha and it was uncomfortable at times.
How does the front end feel?? What I mean is. I have R1 2004. If I let lose on it the front end feels very lose. Like someone has made my front end out of clouds.
Before I watched I knew the triumph would come out as the best. It's British isn't it. And strange the Quickshifter of the Brutale was't good. Heard other story's.
What many fail to realise is that the MT09 is made for raw power. Not for refine experience. Its pure hooligan bike. If you cant handle the power, then dont blame it on the bike.
stupid question but anyone have issues with the paint job on the RS, the matt silver is gonna be matt black next year, isnt that likely to show every single mark, how does the silver hold up, anyone know? ta!
What about the MT-09SP quickshifter. Could be updated to something better including downshift, and if you can would you suggest an aftermarket or Yamaha option ?
Just been to their site; www.translogicuk.com/blip-assist.php and they seem to be making an Auto-blipper (or blip assist as they call it) that, if I'm not mistaken, works with the standard MT-09 quickshifter. TLS-BA3.1-MT09-XSR-DCS: "Yamaha MT09 & XSR900 Blip Assist System, Plug&Play for models 2017 onwards for standard footrests with standard road shift or inverted race shift set-up. (includes ECU, DCS sensor, tie rod kit and pit lane warm up button assembly)." Haven't seen any reviews for this yet...
Great video. I like the back and forth between all three bikes. I was wondering which bike do you think feels the fastest? On paper I believe the triumph was faster than the fz and the regular brutale, but IDK about the brutale rr. I know it has some extra horses. Probably a good fight.
Yes the Street was the quickest on the 1/4 mile but the MV felt the fasted on the road probably more because of the high pitched engine note and hard suspension bouncing you around. Real world though the Street Triple would have been quicker
I found the reviews a tad confusing and probably best if they were done individually rather than jumping from one bike to the next so quickly. Also, some of the comments on the MV are at odds with other MV reviews that you've done. Also, you forgot to mention "in my opinion" when stating comparisons. Just sayin'
Nothing beats the sound of that BEAUTIFUL sounding Triumph triple! They make the most beautiful sounds
No music as in most vids, but the just the sounds of the engines, those great sounding 3 cilinders, thanks 👍😎

This is the best bike review I have ever seen.
Why?
The way you kept cutting the video between the bikes gave a really good distinction between the various exhaust notes and If I am honest I am a complete slag for a good exhaust note!!!
Thanks that's what I thought, did intend to split them but this worked much better I think 👍
People compare the MT09 and Street Triple but I just don't know how. Street Triple RS is a precision track bike, MT09 is the ultimate street hooligan machine. Two different bikes for two different purposes.
Yup thats a good point I would agree, same as people comparing the Superduke and Tuono
Agreed.

Yeah but both are naked/standard design bikes. So...
All excellent bikes.

The Speed Triple sounds the best among the three, hands down
Love my Triple RS! Absolutely a blast! Quality is top notch and great for commuting and hooning around when need be. Great review! Ride safe - DJB 🏍
Finally the proper triple comparison instead of stock MT09 vs STRS
Great video, well done! I'm tall so I'm loving the riding position of the MV. I had a quick ride on an F4 a while back and fell in love with the MV stance!

Not really true my friend. Try the Kawi Z900. That machine has great mid-range and a great top end.
great point they're all winners. even third place is a win!
Love for street triple ❤️❤️❤️
Mt 09 all day
Mate I was beaming all through that! Great giggle, looked a whole lot of fun 👍
haha thanks Bruce, it was good fun. Great to ride bikes back to back for a change to compare properly.
Whoooop.
Entertainment for the night shift.
Thank you Sir 👍🏍😎

Bloody fantastic video chops, this had been in my 'Watch Later' queue for ages and I forgot about it. Top bloody work, that jump at the end.....!!
I want the 765 street triple rs as my next bike🤪
Scandi_MC need to be asking Santa not LambChops pal x
the induction noise that comes from the Street Triple RS easily produces 20 bhp more :D
I much prefer the black display on the mt over the standard one. I think once you put the inevitable exhaust change it’ll come alive
Yes agreed 👍
Lamb Chop Rides haha I should really wait till the video is over before commenting, no more than 30seconds later you said about the exhaust change😂
The color on the Brutale is amazing. I just bought a 2018 MT09 non sp, I am definitely looking to upgrade the suspension and I have the quick shifter ordered as it’s not stock in the US for some reason.... other than the suspension I LOVE THIS BIKE
That's a good thing. You can get a better aftermarket quickshifter compared to the one on the SP
celz olsen, really? Well I better cancel my order and re-think this I figured it would be best/easiest to go with the factory plug and play equipment. Thanks for the info
Those gloves are full of character. Much love
the Brutale sounds, looks and feels brutale
What a compliment. Street triple is a little like the tuono 👌
04:14 "This is really good actually... I'm lovin' this" :)
Jason Critchell is my favorite snapper. His stuff is gorgeous... Thanks for showing us some behind the shoot for PB. I love the mag man. It’s just still epic goodness.
Yes he's very good does some gorgeous work and is very fast normally gets the shot first time. Poor light that day was the issue at the end.

I soooo fancy the Street Triple. Cracking video and review!🤘🏻😎
Great video Chops, and it was all filmed in my area! I live about 3 miles from that bridge, it is a rite of passage to launch your car off it, I haven't dared on my bike though! Keep up the great videos.
Haha I think I would prefer it on a bike than a car! Great roads up there 👍👍
I own a 2014 street triple r and have always been wondering if it is worth upgrading to the new rs. I have been telling myself it isn't worth it, but this review is making it harder to keep believing that. Keep up the great work!
It is a bit special, not tried the earlier one but would suggest a test ride as RS is rather tasty
Slade Renegade i have 2014 standard and tried RS last year to see if it was worth the upgrade. This is what i love .... an honest unbiased test thrash from the chops.... excellent reviews mate might be chopping in my 09 standard for the sp 👌 those olins 😍
Thanks matey
Great video!! I think I’d go with the Triumph, just all around great, high quality bike.
I'd love the Street Triple RS but it's $7000AUD (£4000) more than the MT09 in Australia, doesn't quite seem worth it.
fucking Australia man. everythings expensive here . 7200$ ride away for r3 WITHOUT abs from peter stevens
He commented about MT09 -"It's so easy to push the horn...". I've been riding MT09 for almost a year now and still can't find the bloody thing when its required.
You kept me up watching...I'm not even interested in a new bike ;)
5 star review out of 5, great job Chops !
Pb found the right guy !
BTW the MV looks just awesome from behind the bars !
I am in Brazil, always follow your videos, tours and racing and ate bicycle, desire that God always be with you in their paths friend.
I would prefer the z900 in terms of looks alone because we're spoiled for choice when it comes to amazing motorcycles. Lets face it all these are probably great and we can just get what we like without really worrying.
Love the quick edits amongst the bikes
Go the Brutale- exhaust note and blip get the juices flowing. Maybe its more a track day bike? Very exotic.
Good to see you all round my area. Good roads the B672 and that and through Market Harborough where I live.
Great roads up there Mark, loved the run back from Bruntingthorpe to PB office in Peterborough proper hoonage 😎😎
I only ride with my eyes closed going too fast into a corner saying oh shit lol. Great comparison, that Triumph definitely sounds the best. 🖒
PB was my bible bk in mid 80’s and all through the 90’s.
Out of these three I pick the Tuono! :-)
Love the street triple 😍 great work chops
What a fantastic vid Chops well done mate.
Thanks mate 👍
Great video gents! Struggling between the Duke 790 or Brutale 800. As great as the Triumph is, I cannot get passed the bug eyes (Too bad really as with a sexier/meaner look it would be simply superior). Please talk me out of the Brutale!!
Im collecting a 790 Duke Tuesday so will let you know if its better than the Brutale :-)
So which did you pick?
Kinda have the same problem lol💀
@@armankiarmankii Street Triple RS
That pheasant photo was funny xD
Great with the behind the scene shots! 👍🏻🇸🇪🇬🇧
Thanks Jon, you don't realise the work which goes on to these shots amazed me when I started with them . So much work for a couple of pages in the mag really.
I have an older street tripple an I've enjoyed it . Probably gonna get a mt09 . Closest triumph dealer is an hour and a half away. Change my mind .
Lovely job...that mv is a looker all right but as usual in life, more costly to keep happy I bet lol.....0:23, XX900..I used to work on that!!
Well I'm a new rider and love your vids, ooh good cam footaaaageee as well 👍

Great review chops. I have ridden both the MT and the Triumph and love them both but they are becoming a bit common now... MV looks and sounds amazing. Could clutch and hard suspension not be tinkered with to improve... And if this was done surely it would be pushing an 8 or 8.5 no?
Really enjoyed my mv 800rr but they are a bit fragile... So I went tuono
Oh and the Mv revs to 13,100 😉
Yes but didn't you have the Dragster ? Same bike I know.. I know what you mean ,after 2500 miles the starter clutch on my 15 plate Brutale RR is playing up & the dealer network had gone to shit...so this could cost me a shedload of cash. BTW how is the Tuono?
I love how everyone is just parroting the line about the RS being a track bike on every youtube video where it is featured.
I 'll take the triumph thanks
Brutale 800 most racey and fun midleweight Streetfighter ✊🔥🔥
The design on the brutale is really appealing. Would you say the mechanical features of the mv are less refined than the other two chops?
Despite its flaws I would take the MV all day
Yeah those dam sexy Italian bikes they are hard to resist!
love of flawed italian things you either get it or you don't. For the most part I don't :p
I haven’t ridden an MV so can’t comment on the ride but if looks matter then the MV wins followed by the Street with the MT09 some way behind in my opinion, but looks are subjective. Strange because I think the MT10 looks great.
9:10 I was just waiting for a tank slapper 😬
Yeah me too!!
Mackey Charli It has a steering damber
Really enjoyed that, you boys can ride. Me thinks, deep down, you preferred the MT 😉
You really gotta love the MV to pay super naked prices for it. It's a beautiful bike but £13k is over priced for the kit you're getting.
Fastest on test seemed to be the Mazda Bongo :-)
I love my Street Triple R, and i loved the 2018 FZ09 too, but i did not like the seat on it. The triumph has a much better seat and seating position. I felt like i had to ride the tank on the yamaha and it was uncomfortable at times.
XSR900 baby
I will always say this about vlog review's on bikes (EACH TO THERE OWN)
How does the front end feel?? What I mean is. I have R1 2004. If I let lose on it the front end feels very lose. Like someone has made my front end out of clouds.
Doesn't sound at all confidence inspiring! Shouldn't be like that perhaps get the suspension overhauled?
The Triumph is awesome but it looks like a house fly. Give it a single headlight and it would be perfect.
No way men!!! The Headlights are your ID and ADN
Great review. Greetings from Pooland ;-)
Could I ask which you would buy with your own money? 👍
Street Triple if I was spending, worth the extra grand over the MT09 I think
Lamb Chop Rides cool thanks for answering 👍
Before I watched I knew the triumph would come out as the best. It's British isn't it. And strange the Quickshifter of the Brutale was't good. Heard other story's.
What many fail to realise is that the MT09 is made for raw power. Not for refine experience. Its pure hooligan bike. If you cant handle the power, then dont blame it on the bike.
Sold a 2017 09 woolich tune etc for a 2018 striple R and you can just tell it’s bang for buck vs quality
stupid question but anyone have issues with the paint job on the RS, the matt silver is gonna be matt black next year, isnt that likely to show every single mark, how does the silver hold up, anyone know? ta!
Judging from the matt black Speed Triple RS in my local dealers show room, every finger print will be clearly visible.
Between the sp an the RS for me gotta mt07 now an be with this for another year but i think i will be taking the speed triple rs for a test ride
Did you have the Mt09 in A mode?,,
Would you say the Mt-09 has a better seating position for the road, doing legal speeds I mean?
Yes probably the most comfortable out of the three 👍
What about the MT-09SP quickshifter. Could be updated to something better including downshift, and if you can would you suggest an aftermarket or Yamaha option ?
Translogic may do a blipper / QS for it. They do for the MT10 👍
Just been to their site; www.translogicuk.com/blip-assist.php
and they seem to be making an Auto-blipper (or blip assist as they call it) that, if I'm not mistaken, works with the standard MT-09 quickshifter.
TLS-BA3.1-MT09-XSR-DCS:
"Yamaha MT09 & XSR900 Blip Assist System, Plug&Play for models 2017 onwards for standard footrests with standard road shift or inverted race shift set-up. (includes ECU, DCS sensor, tie rod kit and pit lane warm up button assembly)."
Haven't seen any reviews for this yet...
So, it's an XSR 900 then.... No transformers were harmed....
Is the photographer Chippy Woods?
7 to the BRUTALE and 8 to the MT09 ? I don't understand :(
I think i might drop the SDK and go down to a street RS , it fits the road more than the sdk
I did feel the same after riding it!
"and you really have to pull in the lever" 5 seconds later* VRRRGGGH* "OOO thats racey hehehehe.
Chopsy......mt-09sp or 790 Duke?
Great video m8
Great review
Great video
does any of these have key less entry ?
Get the fuck out of here u prick
Mph or kmh
Mt09 sp or street triple rs?
Street Triple RS, bit more money but worth it IMO
Great video. I like the back and forth between all three bikes. I was wondering which bike do you think feels the fastest? On paper I believe the triumph was faster than the fz and the regular brutale, but IDK about the brutale rr. I know it has some extra horses. Probably a good fight.
Yes the Street was the quickest on the 1/4 mile but the MV felt the fasted on the road probably more because of the high pitched engine note and hard suspension bouncing you around. Real world though the Street Triple would have been quicker
Mv brutale 800 looks and goes faster then Street triple rs, english review✊ Triumph win😜
I found the reviews a tad confusing and probably best if they were done individually rather than jumping from one bike to the next so quickly. Also, some of the comments on the MV are at odds with other MV reviews that you've done.
Also, you forgot to mention "in my opinion" when stating comparisons.
Just sayin'
