I’m sorry to hear about the great Bluegrass tenor Bobby Osborne passed away last week. Beautiful harmony with his Brother Sonny . Korea war veteran. Great human being. Rest in peace my hero. ❤😢
My oldest brother first wife was the sister of the Goins Brothers so I heard my first bluegrass song at 8 years old I was hooked I slept and ate bluegrass I wrote my first song at the age 12 I've been playing since then I'm no star or anything but I enjoy playing long live bluegrass
I am 67. I'm glad that gentlemen are about my age peers, yet they play beautiful Bluegrass. I am also a country musician. I add one more art to the art of music - to endure playing music all the life as these gentlemen can it do.
I’m 83 years old and have been playing guitar since I was 16, and will be picking & singing in our bluegrass band this coming Saturday night. I still love bluegrass SO MUCH ❤
I grew up in the valley in a city but on one side you could see the Appalachian mountains and on the other the Blue Ridge mountains. I've been gone 60 years and still miss it.
I know how you feel my friend I was born in wva been I lift there 40 years ago seems like only yesterday I miss my family and those beautiful mountains I used to hunt and fish I still fish but I really miss it
I grew up in NW Illinois. My 3rd Great Grandfather left Virginia in the 1850's, but when I traveled the area in October, 2000 on a Blue Ridge Parkway vacation, I felt like I was "home".
Oh i too i admire Del's smile he is always happy and smiling at his friends on stage when they are performing. I also admire his brother Jerry. Great music household.
Oh thank you so much for talking about JD. I am a great admirer of JD he hardly smiled but with a beautiful heart when ever he talked. Heard he passed away but no sure.
I wanted to add a comment send it out to my good friend Pat Ryan who always does and outstanding job on this song as he closes his eyes and reaches back into the past (Love you),of youth I meant. Love those technological glitches!
Thank you so much for mentioning Jerry Mccoury. I am a diehard fan of Jerry. I love the way he plays the bass and he is a delight to watch. A great soul from a great music household.
Sean Martinman Thanks Sean! Maybe that's why it's gotten so many hits because I had him coming out of retirement! It was a great show. Certainly worth sitting out in the rain for! Anne
You know, I grew up in Detroit which was a hotbed of country music and saw the likes of Jimmy Martin and the Osborne Brothers in the 50s (I didn't I was born in 54). We had a record store called Harmony House. One day I was in there looking over the country records and I saw Bobby Hicks album Texas Crapshooter filed under Texas Crap. A pox on you Harmony House, and they DID go out of business. Shameful.

I am a huge fan of country and bluegrass even though both are strange in my culture.

Me, @ 1:04. I was lucky enough to be a backstage hanger-outer. Met every one of them.
And the late Dennis Jones with the intro.
Bluegrass music is loved around the world. You'll find as many fans in Scotland, Ireland,England, Australia,New Zealand, and South Africa, as the U.S.
You got to see and hear Del McCoury. I'm so jealous....
Ever smiley Del.

Great music household.
Del seems to be a happy guy.
I can remember the first time I heard JD and the gang play this song. I was knee high to a grasshopper. Inspired me to pursue music.
Oh thank you so much for talking about JD. I am a great admirer of JD he hardly smiled but with a beautiful heart when ever he talked.
Heard he passed away but no sure.
Masters of bluegrass in this video!
This is the best 'MOB' (Masters Of Bluegrass) I've heard in quite a while!
Nah, check out the one on here from Austin City Limits, with Jesse Mcreynolds and Paul Adcock- some brilliant picking!

Yes Bobby Hicks did a great job in the song Sunny side of the mountains. A true legend.
Kayla my fevorit banjo player
My favorite is JD.
What makes you think that people who click on this want to hear a minute and half of talk, rather than music?
Gold plated bluegrass!
I believe it's Bobby Osborne not Sonny. Love JD ,s picking. Great job.
Sean Martinman Thanks Sean! Maybe that's why it's gotten so many hits because I had him coming out of retirement! It was a great show. Certainly worth sitting out in the rain for! Anne

JD is suffering here going back and forth just to sing the bleu ridge mountain home.
Ladies and Gentleman, on Bass Guitar, please welcome to the stage, Mr. Joe Torre!
There's a well beaten path in the old mountainside
Where I wandered when I was a lad
And I wandered alone to the place I call home
In those Blueridge hills far away
Oh I love those hills of old Virginia
From those Blueridge hills I did roam
When I die won't you bury me on the mountain
Far away near my Blueridge mountain home
Now my thoughts wander back to that ramshackle shack
In those blue ridge hills far away
Where my mother and dad were laid there to rest
They are sleeping in peace together there
I return to that old cabin home with the sigh
I've been longing for days gone by
When I die won't you bury me on that old mountain side
Make my resting place upon the hills so high

Awesome
My great grandfather wrote this song
Riiiiiiiiight
...sometimes I wonder if Bobby Osborn can chop and sing at the same time !
Bobby Osborn is a legend.
I know his voice singing Moonlight Kentucky.A great talent.
Why is JD going back and forth to sing the chorus when a microphone could have been provided for him right where he is playing his banjo?
This is done in the old style, sharing mics.
JD’s always done that. It’s an easy way to make sure you can hear all the parts
I only know Dale McCurry and JD. Who are the others?
Bobby Hicks, Bobby Osborne, Jerry McCoury, Del McCoury, JD Crowe
There was an escape prisoner there taking pictures!
One of the Soggy Bottom Boys?.
Please shorten the introduction...it's raining!
Blue Ridge Cabin Home
