- Wondering how to paint a bathtub because it's a horrible 1970's color or your bathtub needs to be freshened up? Watch how I refinish a powder blue bathtub for a neighbor, and show you how I clean my own painted fiberglass shower. I painted my shower about 2.5 years ago and it's held up nicely, except for some dirt stains in the bottom (with a few minor chips). Overall, the results have lasted!

Wow amazing job, i search in all sanitry shops in my country for pink bathtub , wb and wc and i didnt find , only white is there , if you can come to my house and paint it to me from white to pink im ready to give you 300$ for each piece
So this might be surprising for my age of 13 ,but after binge watching all of your videos on your channel, for a few months now, I was inspired to buy a new desk to replace my undesirable one. My father and I completely refinished it. He painted it and I did all the sanding,filling holes, measuring for knobs, and the cutting of contract paper. So thank you for inspiring to do that! IT LOOKS GORGEOUS!

Just bought and moved into my grandma's old house (built 1951!). Everything in the bathroom (and the rest of the house) hasn't been touched since then! As someone very new to home renovation and updating, your videos are an absolute GODSEND. I'm currently working on the bathroom right now! On my list is painting, redoing the floor, adding a vanity, replacing a toilet, refinishing the tub and tile surround, replacing lighting. Thank you so much for your videos, and this quite literally could not have come at a better time! Feel better with that bronchitis; just got over mine two weeks ago and it was hell!

Given me the courage to tackle jobs I'd never dreamed in a million years I could ever do myself. It's so very empowering as well. My pink tub lost all the shine, and is scratched. How it goes scratched is beyond me
Acrylic enamel with a gloss hardner. Old school paint loved it!!!!

Just found this. Contractor told me it would be about 15 grand to rehab my bath. Me buying everything, renting a dumpster etc. That number woke me up! I’m not spending that much... I’m about to learn some skills.
me too $12K for a 36" square shower replacement, then the scammers called me back twice to offer a "special discount" when I refused ... I said forgedabboutdit!!!! LOL
15 grand?! That will buy you a new complete Bathroom plus a Spa!
What they aren't telling you is what type of bath shower they want. They clearly aren't asking for a basic upgrade. If you want something fancy you have to pay, or get it done cheaply and fall apart.
There are quite a few other videos out there but yours seemed realistic as to the amount of prep that’s needed and caring for the tub post-work. It’s Wednesday and I can’t wait for the weekend to start renovating my guest bathroom. Up first, refurbishing my tub!

You forgot a very important tip. Make sure your tub is full of water BEFORE you caulk. The first time you try to take a bath the caulking will pull away from the sides.
I wondered why the caulk completely came apart after the landlord replaced my tub. Thanks!
It depends on the type of the tub. Definitely should be done for plastic but not for cust iron, which won't change the shape as it gets filled with a mass
Can you go more into depth about that? How does that work? Caulk will pull away from what sides? :o
@@user-xu9ot9zk9q It has to do with pressure. When a tub is full it pulls at the seams, if you have the tub full while caulking it adjusts for this and the caulk should stay in place while the tub is in use.

I just moved into a rental that i can do "anything" to. I am so excited to do this! I told my landlord that I was going to fix up the bathroom since it's the ONLY thing that didn't get renovated lol
You've got to enjoy this type of work. Yes I said work because I would find no joy in doing all of this. My hat is off to you for tackling these projects and excelling at them.

Yes, you can! I have really liked the results I have had with it. Eventually, I'll rip out my shower stall and tile and do a glass shower door. But that's the keyword: eventually. LOL
They've had kits to do this for decades
Stay tuned this week because we are doing something different this week, guys! We're doing BATHROOM WEEK! :) I may switch things around and do the toilet installation tutorial tomorrow, and save the new tub installation for Wednesday. We shall see! :)
Cannot wait to watch the tub replacement video. It is so timely as our fiberglass Master bath tub/wall unit has shown stress fractures and resurfacing is no longer an option.

How many coats of paint did ou use on the tub and did you put another coat of the non-slip paint?

Yep, you can totally refinish a bathtub! When we moved into our old house we lived with the colorful showers and tubs for a while. It was like a breath of fresh air when we finally covered the turquoise! Thanks for watching!!

I use dawn dish soap to clean my tub. I learned that tip when I had my cleaning business.

Same here! I use Dawn for everything, including my cats!
You should mix that Dawn soap with white vinegar. Put them both in 50/50, but don’t shake. Turn gently upside down and right side up several times until thoroughly mixed. This solution works amazingly. Evenly brush it on, wait about 15 minutes, then scrub and rinse. Your tub will look more beautiful than ever!
Yes! 🎆 Dawn or any CHEAP shampoo(V0 5, White Rain, etc.,) cleans like a dream👍🏽.

Amazing tutorial and a great 'can-do' attitude! The only thing I could see myself doing differently is using knee pads. I don't know how your knees could handle being on that tile floor that long without knee pads! Great job, keep it up.

@@ooohlaa13 spray it on and leave it there for 30 minutes or so. Any dirt will wipe away upon cleaning.

After finishing the laundry room mini makeover I’m ready for another project. I already have the paint and a light fixture for my bathroom. The biggest mystery may be the possible hidden wall damage behind the bathroom mirror.

About 4 years ago when we were working on my father's house in Silver Spring, I looked into hiring a company to refinish it for us. I can't remember the price they wanted but it was around $1,500 or so. Your's looks just as good!

@@ThriftDiving It would cost me around $400 to do the inside of my large clawfoot tub by a professional up here in Canada. Closer to $500 since I'm not in the city. I've gotten a couple of quotes on this. Mine had a diy kit done to it before we bought and I didn't notice until we moved in and went to take a bath. Too much flaking to take a bath though.

You were totally right in using the single edge blade to scrape soap scum. Great job prepping the surface. I would recommend using an acid etch for better adhesion. Would love to try the Bath Works product with my HVLP spray gun. I liked how you used a liquid bonding agent. Great job with the DIY

You can do it!! Just be very careful with the prep work. Don't skip that part. I have had great results with my shower and it's been nearly 5 years!
