Like a lot of Superman villains, Parasite sadly gets overlooked in favour of Luthor and Zod. Not that they aren't good characters, it's just that you can only get so much out the same characters. Villains like Parasite, Metallo and Mongul have great potential that quite frankly should get explored more. Heck, why stop there? To this day I believe the best use of the Rudy Jones version of Parasite would have been to make him Lex Luthor's bodyguard. It makes perfect sense to me that a powerful, but none-too-clever villain would gravitate to become muscle to a supergenius. Working for Luthor would have given Rudy a chance to indulge in the luxury lifestyle, protected by high-end lawyers to get him out of trouble, and still giving him the chance to wrestle with superpowered heroes on occasion. Luthor, in the meantime, would have a powerful bodyguard to protect him not only from Superman, but from the many superpowered enemies he has accumulated over time. But best of all, I think would be how shaky such a relationship would be. Luthor is a very unpleasant boss in the best circumstances, and Rudy is all about holding grudges against people he percieves as having wronged him. This would make their relationship simultaneously toxic but mutually beneficial, which I think could fuel a number of good stories. I think it would give the Parasite a ton of satisfaction specially to know Superman's real identity and keep this info for himself, relishing that for all his genius Luthor is unable to discover something that seems so obvious once you learn it.
plus we'd also see the partnership strained as Parasite's fuck ups start to leak into ruining Lex's public persona and business which could lead to interesting stories

I love the art to the first one. He might not get love in a movie but i think with Worlds of D.C. they should do mini series that would cover stories like this in movie quality. Like many of the lesser used characters taking the best from all the small stories and making the character as good as possible for one story is the best bet in seeing if the character has staying power. And pairing the lesser known character with other lesser known characters would also be a great marketing tool to test the market with a new product.
First, sorry for my english. Good video! It's a shame that the parasite doesn't get many good stories. Much like many of Superman's rogues gallery, he's overlooked in favor of villains like Lex Luthor and Zod, which is a letdown, considering the ways the Parasite could work in a story, been as a creppy "horror monster" or a sympatic tragic villain, with this concept of his need for feeding on other being to survive. Personally, I think a way that the Parasite could work in a movie (if DC/Warner ever make one) was this: Rudy Jones (I'm going with him, because he's the most well know version due to his apperances in the DC animated universe) would be this small time thief, who's constantly getting himself in trouble with the other criminals, until a moment where he is hired to steal some chemicals in the STAR LABs where he suffers his accident, becoming the Parasite. After woke up in the hospital, Rudy, after see what happened to him, would run way from the hospital, accidently touching on the people on the street, draining the energy, which would call the attention of the police and Superman. Superman, being the "good guy" he is, would try to solve the situation offering help to Rudy. However, Rudy accidently touches Superman, draining his power, causing the cops to shoot him, making Rudy unleash his powers stolen from superman and use them to escape. Now with his new found abilites, Rudy would decide to use them to take over Metropolis gangs and become a big shot in the underworld. That way, Rudy would be a menace to Superman, but also a tragic villain, since he wouldn't be a complete bad guy, just a small crook who wanted to be respect, and in the process, is corrupt by this new power and the ones he stole from superman (which makes him a perfect foil for the hero, who has the powers of a god and is able to control them and use to protect people, instead of being consume by the power). PS: a Suggestion : Top 5 Best Brainiac Stories
¿did you see the new DC Animated Movie Superman The Man of Tomorrow? Rudy Jones Parasite was the main antagonists and if I am honest this has to be for me the definitive take on the character, he was set up as a victim of circumstance and came out as a tragic villain in the story.
I'm going to look up that Parasite origin story, as I'm an Aaron Kuder fan. My favorite Parasite story is definitely the Laser Defense Initiative story from Superman 319-323. First time I remember Superman suffering sensory overload. Superman manages to move the Earth with only a fraction of his powers. I think that story was also my introduction to the quote "Power tends to corrupt, and absolute power tends to corrupt absolutely." And I will second "What's Wrong with Lois?" from early in the Jeph Loeb/Ed McGuiness run as a great Parasite story.
I have to admit, I didn't expect Joshua Allen's Parasite to ever appear on a list like this, never-mind getting the number one spot; the guy always came off as being suited for a Doomsday-like role in the DCU to me - a thoroughly unlikeable hulking monstrous brute who is really difficult to take down and is best suited for high-scale, cinematic fight scenes with whole super-teams, but that Green Arrow story may change my mind on him. I personally have Rudy pinned as being the "Louise Lincoln" of the Parasites, that being a guy whose bad as hell and loves every moment of it. I guess that applies to the comic version of Raymond too, but I'd like to see him become the "Crystal Frost" or "Caitlin Snow" of the Parasites if he ever came back, if only for the sake of differentiation between them. Also there was two other Parasites - twin teenaged siblings Alexandra and Alex Allston. They were only around for a little while, didn't really do much and are way too human-looking, but there's some potential there.
Yes, I've heard of them, but don't think I ever actually read their stories. They seem like an odd concept. I wonder why comics can't just stick with one character - what's the point of these countless different Parasites and Killer Frosts? :P Glad the Batman rogues mainly avoid this; I mean, imagine if there were multiple Riddlers and Poison Ivys...
@@mr.rogues4145 I actually like that there's multiple incarnations of these villains; it allows writers to explore multiple character archetypes with the same basic concept without making the original act out of character. The problems start when they become interchangable, and unfortunately Parasite feels like an example of that.
There is another story that depicts Parasite as a tortured soul: Marvel Treasury Edition #28, a crossover between Spider-Man and Superman. In it, Doctor Doom recruits Parasite to help him take over the world. The parts of the story that deal with Parasite as a character are brief, but during them we see that Parasite is still a man underneath his monstrous exterior, and he wishes he could do the things normal people do like eat food and have sex. Notably, he lamented that he was unable to bang an unconscious Wonder Woman, whom Doctor Doom was holding prisoner.
My favorite Parasite story is in Camelot Falls. He absorbed Superman to the point where he actually becomes a good person and starts thinking he's Superman.
Yay new video :D Hey you are a Iron Man fan right? (guessing from some of your video topics and your early 2019 intro) you should do a top 5 Iron man villains video :)
It's a shame that Parasite is underrated. I like him in Superman Tas version and the spin off comic from the same name. Hated on what they did to him the arrowverse, and the writers barely used him in the comics. Make him sympathetic like Mr. Freeze and he'll be great.

I don't remember the exact issue number or story title, but there was one where Parasite shapeshifted into a duplicate of Lois and fought Superman in that form. I'd always liked that one.
I have an old paperback book from 1981, "Superman and Spiderman", a MARVEL/DC cross-over. They go up against Dr. Doom and Parasite. Cameos by the Hulk and Wonder Woman too. Fun stuff!!! 🤟

A BIG recommendation for Forgotten Rogues would be the villanous trio of Mastermind, Mr. Nice and the Perfessor. They appear in three issues of The Batman Adventures (#10, #20 and #30) and one of Gotham Adventures (#13). Played entirely for laughs, they are all affectionate parodies of DC Comics staff, namely Dennis O'Neil (The Perfessor), Archie Goodwin (Mr. Nice) and Mike Carlin (Mastermind). Although they only had a handful of appearances, they are very enjoyable and well worth a look.
I hate in stories where super heroes won't let people who are in fates worse then death with no freaking cure euthanize themselves. If there is lit no way u can make that persons life bearable let them rest like seriously WTF. Don't end it with 'yep it can;'t be helped! Guess they gotta keep suffering'
So, both the Flash and New 52/DC Rebirth Parasite both has Allen as their surnames, would've that make them be related together or something? Why does DC not realize that both of them has Allen in their last name? I don't get it.
I love *Parasite.* He needs more love in medium of live-action. By the way, it would be nice if you have time to do a list of Top 5 *Brainiac* Stories.
Just a thought but it does make me wonder if Parasite would have been a better villain then Doomsday that Lex created in BvS and they maybe could have had Doomsday more of a build up but that ship has sailed
If you like Parasite so much then marry him. ...I agree, Parasite is a great Superman villain yet they rarely used him. I was astonished he was the main villain in the Man of Tomorrow movie instead of Luthor.
I rather liked the Parasite as a recurring foe for Firestorm during the John Ostrander run on the title, with Firestorm the Nuclear Man #64 being my personal favorite of the bunch.

Yeah in my opinion using Doomsday was a very bad choice he is a villain that should be used when Superman is more experienced. They should have either had Lex himself battle the trinity (via his green battle armor which could have been made thanks to the information of the Kryptonian ship) or as you said Metallo which would be Lex using the disabled man and manipulating him into turning himself into Metallo to fight Superman which again could have been helped by Zod's ship. Also not having Superman die by the end, it was way too soon for them to do that.
While we're at it, they should also not have put Batman in it, and just made it a proper sequel to Man of Steel, instead of trying to "start a shared universe" ;)
Rudy Jones was alright in Secret Origin by Geoff Johns and Gary Frank and he was also pretty cool in Superman the animated series

Quite fitting and ironic if you ask me
Superman: Man of Tomorrow movie does the the 5th best story on this list with sympathy. Mr. Rogues you'll like this movie version of Parasite.
You have already made so many great and diverse videos, but as i can't get tired of your channel here are some ideas: top 5 batman villians origin stories, top 5 batman villians debuts and maybe top 10 stories videos for the most popular batman villians with vast amount of good stories like joker and two face.
Dude ! I ♥️♥️ur content ❗️u do ur own thing and cover topics wide and varied unlike many many of your pier channels ❗️thank you 🙏🙏❗️.. and keep up the good work ❗️
That story with Superman being unpopular sounds very much like a full-on take that at the civilians of the Marvel Universe.
Parasite has a diverse range of stories with multiple versions.
What about the top five or ten members of the Secret Society of Super Villains?
Parasite really deserves better
Yes he does
Tayo Jones just maybe he deserves to in DCEU
Nice! Parasite has got some attention!! (my second fav superman villain, only bellow braniac).
Parasite is an underrated character so glad you made this video!
Thoughts on the Scary Stories to Tell in the Dark series?
That's something I've missed out on.
Who’s next, top 5 best Doomsday Stories?
Nope.
as far as I can tell Doomsday's potential has been largely squandered since his debut in The Death of Superman, which is a shame
Hey Rouges, I really enjoyed this video! I didn’t know too much about Parasite and this taught me a lot about him. I think that you should start a discord server. I’ve seen other TH-camrs like you try it, and I think it would be a great idea for your channel!
DingoDeep
I agree.
Cool. I love the New 52 origin story for Parasite. I agree that Roody Jones doesn't have any great stories.
Whatcaboiy the one where he kidnapped Lois and pretended to be her for months? Superman was pissed when he found out.
@@tayojones9460 I haven't read that one. Sounds cool
One time in a crossover series Parasite absorbed Gokus strength and get so much power that it took Goku to go Super Saiyan to defeat him
First, sorry for my english.

11:25 The thing with the people rooting for the robot over Superman is funny. They're like "Yeah robot. Kill our greatest hero."
In Superman TAS, Parasite was my favorite villain on it. I’m surprised that he isn’t more stuff, he’s terrific!
Top 5 Mr. Mxyzptlk stories?

Deshawn Edwards maybe leave it for Wonder Woman 1984
Sharkzilla3000 what?
Sharkzilla3000 but all it says is the trailer cancelled not the movie itself
Sharkzilla3000 I guess you did
There is another story that depicts Parasite as a tortured soul: Marvel Treasury Edition #28, a crossover between Spider-Man and Superman.
Superman: Earth One Vol 2 by JMS probably did the most to give Parasite a backstory and delve into his character despite it being an Elseworlds story.
My favorite Parasite story is in Camelot Falls. He absorbed Superman to the point where he actually becomes a good person and starts thinking he's Superman.
Yay new video :D
Hey you are a Iron Man fan right? (guessing from some of your video topics and your early 2019 intro) you should do a top 5 Iron man villains video :)
It's a shame that Parasite is underrated. I like him in Superman Tas version and the spin off comic from the same name. Hated on what they did to him the arrowverse, and the writers barely used him in the comics. Make him sympathetic like Mr. Freeze and he'll be great.
What about a asshole villain?
please for the love of god just make another video about forgotten supervillains and superheros like its been so long and i am dying to see you do another one like also i would like you to make another underrated rouges video as well because i just want to see more and i hope one of these days you can make videos about underrated superheros next year.
can we get a best stories of Mongul?
Where would Superman: Man of Tomorrow fall on this list? would it change anything?
Great video as always
You should do a metallo vid
I don't remember the exact issue number or story title, but there was one where Parasite shapeshifted into a duplicate of Lois and fought Superman in that form. I'd always liked that one.
I have an old paperback book from 1981, "Superman and Spiderman", a MARVEL/DC cross-over. They go up against Dr. Doom and Parasite. Cameos by the Hulk and Wonder Woman too. Fun stuff!!! 🤟
He's my favorite Superman villain as well
I want his powers 💙💚💛💜🖤❤

Oooooh ok
But I already do know about them as well
The whole "touch someone else and he can drain not just their energy but their knowledge from their brains"
And on top of that can copy any other super powers his opponent has
Only catch is it's temporary
But I can live with that
cause all I really want is the knowledge he can get from draining energy
since u could so easily store what they know in your own brain
And if u copy other powers
It well be fun to use while you have the chance
@@mr.rogues4145
Oh and I also forgot that the other catch is
When you absorb others powers you also absorb weakness
A BIG recommendation for Forgotten Rogues would be the villanous trio of Mastermind, Mr. Nice and the Perfessor.
They appear in three issues of The Batman Adventures (#10, #20 and #30) and one of Gotham Adventures (#13). Played entirely for laughs, they are all affectionate parodies of DC Comics staff, namely Dennis O'Neil (The Perfessor), Archie Goodwin (Mr. Nice) and Mike Carlin (Mastermind). Although they only had a handful of appearances, they are very enjoyable and well worth a look.
Tio 5 count vertigo stories would be good or top 5 deadshot stories as well.

I loved the green arrow crossover with parasite.

Maybe in the future.
Just a thought but it does make me wonder if Parasite would have been a better villain then Doomsday that Lex created in BvS and they maybe could have had Doomsday more of a build up but that ship has sailed
It not only sailed, but it burned too...

dammit
that would've been a much better idea than doomsday
Bro I fucking love your channel, been watching you from the start.
Thanks, and awesome! Really appreciate it!
If you like Parasite so much then marry him.
...I agree, Parasite is a great Superman villain yet they rarely used him. I was astonished he was the main villain in the Man of Tomorrow movie instead of Luthor.
WHAT!!! A parasite video now I am going to have to make up a new running joke. ...

Parasite is the cool character for me.
Hey Mr. Rogues, why don't you tell us in the comments what your ideal Parasite story would be like.
Shouldn't parasite have the power to take on the justice league?
In my opinion parasite was done really well in superman TAS.
Rody Jones was a well written and sad character in the Superman tas.
The only two I know of is superman secret origins and superman earth one
Hello
These stories sound pretty good..how parasite got shit about how stiries?
Maybe he should have been in batman V superman along the no legged man becoming Metallo over doomsday instead.
Patrick so you agree then?
@@srstriker6420 Yeah, i do.
While we're at it, they should also not have put Batman in it, and just made it a proper sequel to Man of Steel, instead of trying to "start a shared universe" ;)
Mr. Rogues yeah maybe didn’t needed it at all
I actually disagree right off the bat, I thought that Rudy jones had a great story in his first story in adventures of Superman 481.
