This Doctor saved me. I was suffering from extreme constipation. 2 and a half months of hardly any bowel movements. The doctors couldn't do anything. Not once did they recommend bile salts or specific supplements. I started using Dr. Berg's supplements and apple cider vinegar. I also started eating non pasteurized sour kraut with small amounts of fiber to feed the probiotics. Thank you so much Dr.

Awesome job raising awareness on this. The connection between thiamine and the gut goes far deeper than just improving vagal tone and improve HCL output, however. The enteric neurons themselves require massive amounts of thiamine, and thiamine was shown in the older Japanese literature (not translated in English) to stimulate practically every function of the GI tract, all the way through output of pancreatic enzymes, intestinal motility, intestinal barrier function, etc.
Research in China (also not translated in English) was using specific derivatives of thiamine back in the 1970s and 80s to treat intestinal disorders, ranging from IBS, constipation, obstruction and even IBD.
The FIRST study in humans (induced thiamine deficiency in a controlled setting) found that none of the patients developed Beriberi or Wernicke encephalopathy, but instead most of the initial symptoms to develop were digestive complaints! Bloating, nausea, reflux, and symptoms identical to SIBO. All of these resolved when thiamine was repleted.

I follow both yourself and Dr Berg and a few weeks ago I started taking TTFD B1 900 mg per day and it seems to have started working, I seen on one of your videos that it can seem to make things worse before they get better so hopefully I am on that path. I have had tenesmus for 10 years, so many tests and docs have no idea what is causing it but watching your videos seemed to have all the symptoms of low B1 so thought I would give it a try. Keep up the good work.

Elliot, do you think benfothiamin can help here or should one use TTFD only to resolve the vagal and digestive issues? How about sulbutiamine? I don't tolerate TTFD well - massive headaches and brain fog. I cant do high amounts of molybdenum either which is what is recommended to help with the side effects of TTFD. my daughter has type 1 diabetes(27) yr olds, when she was in the hospital in december 2021 , i specifically asked the hospital doctor making rounds ( and who ended up being the doc to discharge her ) about her vagus nerve and if he could refer us to vagus nerve therapy and he was CLUELESS! he completely blew me off!!
just as a side note: i also had to ask 4 times!!! for a vit d test and actually left the hospital to go to her online portal 2 days!!! later ( she was in hospital almost a week) and see that her vit d level was 12!! they never even mentioned it was low much less dangerously low!!
i could go on and on about this experience but she was also given too many fluids in the intensive care ( fluid overload ) and got pulmonary edema around her heart and pneumonia in one lung. she had a x-ray in ER and showed NONE of this! the hospital did this, she was diagnosed on discharge with a lot of things but CVIRUS not one of them although they gave her 2 test wanted her to have it so bad, they started her on steroids BEFORE and AGAINST my instructions!! we had a C QUICK TEST at a quick care facility right before they took her by ambulance to actual hospital! the health care systems are totally in denial!!!

My Dr. Put me on a heartburn pill for years and I finally stopped taking it because I thought it made no sense because I Never had acid reflux issues just issues swallowing. Once I went off the heartburn pills I had unbearable acid reflux issues that I NEVER experienced before. I knew it was from the pills the moment I went off of them. Now after a few years I don’t really struggle with acid reflux as my body has gotten back to normal without those pills. But I still have it occasionally and I just take my vinegar with water and it helps.
