I would like to make a point here. My adult granddaughter has Celiac Disease. Her entire life she has been in/out of mental hospitals with suicidal and depression issues. She was not even able to drive. Two years ago she was diagnosed with Celiac Disease. With her going GF, she no longer has the mental issues…….is off medication……..can drive…….and is studying to be an herbalist. What a COMPLETE change. What an AWESOME change. So, while gluten affects people physically……….it very well can affect a person mentally. Anyone with any type of mental issues SHOULD be tested for Celiac Disease, and take the diagnosis extremely seriously.
Blame the politicians for everything. They CAN fix everything if they wanted to, but they get too many kickbacks from industries (fossil fuels, tobacco, Big Pharma, wallstreet) that want to keep reaping in billions from the population.

Most general practitioners are not trained in detailed stuff like this. Maybe a nutritionist would be. Our whole medical system is out of whack and only treating “symptoms” after the fact. No preventable things. No wonder Americans have so many health issues(I can’t speak for other countries).
@Tina Johnson they used to be now they are folded into medical as a separate specialty and the training has gone downhill. Tells you something doesn't it.🤔

I had bowel problems all my life on and off and 5 yrs ago was diagnosed with stage 4 bowel cancer, luckily when they did the r/h hemicolectomy they also managed to repair the other damage the cancer latched onto. After 8 months of chemo ( which I don't wish on anybody !) I'm just out of my 5yrs and still here. I only knew something was wrong when I passed black stools, and was more tired than I'd ever been in my life. They removed a grapefruit sized tumour and some muscle and 5 lymph nodes. I would always recommend you check your stools if you have abdomen ache that just won't go away. Also if your bowel habits change and your REALLY tired get checked out asap 👍😉
@@wasimwassi5990 I had a more frequent urge to go which also took longer because of impeded flow. The motoins were a bit of both loose and hard. The black stools were normal but BLACK. The pain got so unbearable I couldn't sit down stand up lie down it was just there ALL the time. The doctor referred me immediately to the hospital because she said she could feel harfness on my right side which didn't feel right plus the symptoms of chronic fatigue. They admitted me straight away and operated 4 days later after they'd told me it was serious, possibly stage 4 after C scanning me. Never been so shocked in my life but funnily enough I knew I was going to be alright. Remained positive and never let it enter my head it was stage 4. And here I am still here fighting on for another day 👍😉

I stopped eating salad to test and my digestive issues (particularly soft stool and gas) were gone but since everyone says one must eat salad, I introduced it back into my diet and still have problem when eating salad and I have to eat a lot less of it. On the other hand I don't have any problems eating meat as much as I want!

I used to have bad IBS with diarrhea. Was desperate so I decided to try a gluten free diet. Did research, read labels, etc. Have to say I hoped it wouldn’t work because I couldn’t eat some of my favorite foods. But it did work. I had no more diarrhea. GREAT advice. When I began my journey, I fasted for three days, broke it with eggs, and went full carnivore. It was for longer than 3 days, but I felt so much better at the end of that first week, I never wanted to eat plants again. Eventually I added plants back into my diet - Dr. Berg's KETO / IF style. After being diagnosed with Thyroid cancer I've been changing my diet drastically. It's been so overwhelming as I have digestive issues and anything green and healthy for me about kills me. I finally started doing a Candida cleanse and fasting and eliminating sugar including fruit. GAME CHANGER! I immediately starred feeling better and can eat greens again. I’ e been on ketovore and people can’t fathom that my gut is so much better without breads and limited veggies. Been off the wagon for 1.5 years and gained 15 lbs back and constantly gassy and constipated. Discovering the carnivore way of living saved my gut and also less eczema rosesea breakouts.
when i first started getting really bad Crohn’s flares (before it was diagnosed) I had no clue what was going on. I kept eating “healthy” food like salad and vegetables and getting sicker and sicker. I wish I had seen this. I could have saved so much pain and stress if I had seen this back then.
Thank you, thank you, thank you Dr. Berg! ❤ I now understand why I have experienced so much discomfort when I eat foods high in fiber(and Apple Cider Vinegar from another one of your videos) So many people aren't aware of this and add more fiber such as Metamucil thinking that everyone should have a very high fiber diet. I use to work in a medical facility, and frequently we had people that came in with a bowel impaction that had to be removed. I now understand more as to why not everything is right for everyone. You have helped educate so many people. I hope that you know how much you are appreciated. ❤
Went 100% grain-free for two years on GAPS diet. It made everything so much worse. Started eating homemade slow-fermented whole wheat bread again and instantly felt better. Also, phytic acid in whole grains is neutralized by fermentation. Soak your oatmeal in yogurt-water overnight, ferment your bread dough 12-24 hours with a traditional sourdough starter, etc.
I'm considering doing the gaps diet which is why I ask but you did the intro phase/all the leases then went to full gaps and it didn't help you? Could you elaborate
Hi S Lee - Let me know if this is the info you are looking for. I did the intro phase of GAPS and then proceeded to the full GAPS. The issues that I had became worse over time while being on the GAPS diet, and are worse now after stopping than they were prior to GAPS. I think a restrictive diet was a mistake for the diversity of my gut microbiome. These days, symptoms seem to have nothing to do with what I eat - GAPS approved foods, non approved foods, makes no difference. I have not had any adverse reaction since reintroducing grains (organic, prepared by soaking/fermenting). In fact, I seem to do pretty well on them. People with sulfur intolerance seem to do especially badly on GAPS. See the book The Devil in the Garlic for info on that. I still avoid garlic and, to a large degree, onions, though at this point I’m not sure that what I am dealing with has much to do with any specific food. I see restrictive diets being touted as “something you may as well try because it can’t hurt”. I feel much more cautious about that approach now after my experience with a diet that I assumed was completely harmless - GAPS. It obviously didn’t kill me, but I did experience it as detrimental, and more radically so than I expected, so if I had it to do again I wouldn’t rush to become extremely restrictive. I found some interesting information from Joette Calabrese’s site on homeopathy about addressing gut conditions with homeopathy WITHOUT restricting the diet.
Very informative, although I would mention histamine intolerance when fermented vegetables and anything fermented should be consume with a caution . This topic is still unknown compared to SiBO and other gut issues, but still a lot of people do suffer woth that as they mistake the symptoms for hay fever....
I noticed just a little over a year ago grains were behind most of my gut issues. I have to be very careful about how much bread I eat and where I used to eat oatmeal, and even eventually went gluten free with my oatmeal, when I cut it out all together there was a shift. No more brown rice, white rice, none.
Hii there, do you know if all grains should be avoided? For example does rice also have gluten or phylic acid? Can you give a list of all grains you avoid?
@@asmasiddiqui8789 You can find Dr.Gundry on TH-cam as well. He is talking more about plant paradox and grains etc. Those two - Dr.Berg and Dr.Gundry are the only ones I trust and listening!!!
I noticed the same thing over the past 10 years actually. And now, I can't eat grains. Causes major gut/intestinal issues. I have the same problem with most vegetables too. So, I only eat avocadoes and bananas mainly, eggs, plain toast, cheese, some meats and white potatoes. And now I'm fine. Beans and Oatmeal ARE THE WORSE for me 🤢
I used to have Crohn's....a combination of nutrition, biologics, and fasting has reversed much of the damage. Should have paid attention to it right away, but I was an ignorant kid..
I was a sugar junkie when I was younger I drank lots of soda and ate chocolate. I cut that back. And I just do coffee and green tea now. I also try not to eat sweets and bread.
Biologics are absolute poison and can cause permanent liver and kidney damage, among a vast array of other things. I know from experience. It’s great that you’re doing better, but this is not “reversing” anything from a root level, it’s simply masking symptoms and putting you in a false remission

All of my life I have struggled so much with my gut. I grew up watching my parents struggle with their gut, too. It was terrible and is. @@youtuber4802 Eating fiber for gut health is a myth. It can actually worsen it for many people, especially those who're susceptible to constipation and flatulence. Only positive I can find for fiber is that it can reduce the severity of blood sugar spikes, but you wouldn't really need that if you're eating very low carb and no sweets anyway. Currently, I don't eat any of the 4 foods I mentioned in my first comment, and base my diet around mostly meat and saturated fats, though I eat cooked veggies on the side, not raw. (cooked are easier on the gut) If I were you, I'd eliminate all grains and drastically reduce fiber intake and go meat based keto, to see if that helps.

I had stomach cramps for years until one doctor tested for H pylori and gave me two weeks of antibiotics. The antibiotics worked but my teeth got plaque and I got eczema. I started to take probiotics and the eczema went away. I am guessing the antibiotics killed most of my good bacteria
I was in terrible shape for many years suffering from several chronic conditions including lyme disease. I had months of antibiotics without real benefit and destroyed my gut with it. When I stay on a strict keto/carnivore diet my gut is quite calm but when I just eat one piece of candy or anything unhealthy I feel like junk for a week. I get digestive issues, sleeping problems, skin outbreaks, severe exhaustion and feel like having the flu. It shows me that I should stay away from that because my body don't want that!
When I eat grains I feel sluggish, and my bowel movements are like rocks, when I eat cabbage and potatoes instead I’m full of energy and my bowel movements are softer. I feel best when I consume Kiefer, combined with cooked veggies, like cabbage, broccoli, cauliflower, carrots, potatoes. In a stew with some bone broth. I also eat free range eggs and checking and grass fed beef, but it’s the carbs that seem to dictate my bowel health.
Having Ulceritive colitis what helps is eating alot potatoes. Mine's been in remission now for 12 years. I found every time I ate potatoes it would get better. I would add that to the doctors diet. Thank you for helping people, doctors didn't even know how to help me.
I would just add to this that I can only eat organic potatoes because I am sensitive to glyphosate. The potatoes in the UK are very high in glyphosate as it is used to dry out the leafy plant before lifting the potatoes. If I eat too much glyphosate I get gut issues, my muscles twitch, I experienced un specified anxiety and I struggle to sleep.
Yes, glyphosate kills off your gut microbiome and that of our soils through the shikimate metabolic pathway. This makes human beings ill just by eating what appears to be food. It also depleates the soil of vital nutrients as plants rely on the soil microbiome to free up nutrients for them to absorb. Many people are malnourished, sick and dying. Our teacher says that sick people and cheap food production make the elite class rich and that in America at least, there is nothing the people can do about it. It makes me sad.

Hi Dr Berg. Thank you so much for this video. I’ve had gut issues practically all my life, and they’re just getting worse. (I’m 54). I’ve cut out dairy, gluten and sugar since the start of December ‘22 and have begun to incorporate intermittent fasting. However I still suffer with chronic constipation, with lots of gurgling and rumbling in my stomach daily, and have had acne on my back since I was 11. I don’t eat any processed foods at all, just regular vegetables, meats, nuts, seeds etc. I would really like to try this test, but want to know what on earth am I supposed to eat for 3 days please? I can only think of fish, meat and eggs. So if you have any more suggestions then PLEASE do let me know. Thanking you in advance, and keep up this phenomenal work!
Hi, I'm trying this right now. Day one! After doing some research, I bought - as well as eggs, meat and fish - white rice, white pasta, white bread, bananas, melon, butter, milk, tofu, creamy/smooth peanut butter, canned/tinned green beans and canned/tinned (skinless) potatoes, canned/tinned (skinless) peaches. It's not much, I know, and these foods are abhorrent to me! I always eat healthily, and usually avoid foods like this like the plague. However, I'm feeling so poorly, and this seems like a fairly quick (only three days!), simple way of ruling out any IBD's. Hope that helps, and good luck 😊
You sound like me with the exception of constipation. Mine is diarrhea. The loud growling, gurgling all day and night is bad and it doesn't matter if I eat or fast for a day or 2. I cut out all gluten, dairy, sugars too. Didn't help. Now my doctor is scheduling me for a colonoscopy to look for colon cancer.
@@Pr0ph3cy-k5z I’m so sorry to hear that. I really hope that it’s not colon cancer. A Doctor told me recently that growling and gurgling is “normal” as one gets older. I’ve never heard such nonsense in my entire life.....

I don't understand what is the indicators/symptoms we should expect to observe in order to deduce we have a gut issue : in particular step1 when removing fibers from our diet, how do we know we have a gut issue ? Is it if we feel better without them (more energy, no bloating, no stomac pain...) ? Thank you for clarifying.
If you do three days of no fibre and you feel markedly better, than you most likely DO have an Irritable Bowel Disease (don't know which one - there are several). Also, if when you add the fibre back in after three days and you feel worse again, then again - probably an IBD. If it's the other way around - worse with no fibre & better with fibre - then you most likely do not have an IBD. Hope that helps.
I had tons of gut issues for a year straight. Didnt have gas, didnt have diarrhea, had hard stools off and on it was inconsistant. Mostly i just had gut pain that moved around, sometimes it was higher sometimes it was lower. I realized one day when i only ate meat my pain was barely there. So i switched to nothing but meat and organs. After 6 months all pain was gone.
Wish I could do this , but I suffer from constipation. Doing keto with low carbs right now cut out all processed sugars and grains . I have colitis. Wish I could go full carnivore
@Alejandro Casarez most of the reason for this is ome of two thimgs or a combination Weak stomach acid or to low of fat. Too much fat gives you diaharea too little gives you constipation. Would would take betain hcl with pepsin at every meal.
I blend my salad: 7 ounces of greens, 8 ounces of kiefer, 2 tablespoons cocoa powder, teaspoon on monk fruit powder, collagen powder 3 tablespoons (optional), enough water to start the blending process, two handfuls of ice to thicken it. Yum.

Awesome video. I usually eat lots of raw vegetables and fruits using the OMAD protocol. However, for 3 weeks by now I'm experiencing diarrhea 3-4 hours after my meal. So, while
gluten affects people physically……….it very well can affect a person mentally. Anyone with any type of mental issues SHOULD be tested for Celiac Disease, and take the diagnosis extremely seriously.

How are you doing now? Hope you are feeling better.
F OATMEAL F GAPS DIET
I was wondering why no one is talking about phytic acids in grains is the actual problem
Dr Berg you are a blessing to human-kind! Please don't stop educating us.❤

You're very welcome.
I had stomach cramps for years until one doctor tested for H pylori and gave me two weeks of antibiotics. The antibiotics worked but my teeth got plaque and I got eczema. I started to take probiotics and the eczema went away. I am guessing the antibiotics killed most of my good bacteria
What exact probiotics did you take? Struggling with similar issues.
@@friesmj I took align, which has Bifidobacterium longum.
@@helios4425 Thank you!
Very interesting and informative video. Dr Berg you are the best!❤

Exactly sir I have noticed that, grains( starch, phytic acid), extra fibres are very dangerous to some people.... myself among them,, having chronic constipation, osteoarthritis, depression, anxiety....I felt all these now I am recovering from all these symptoms....
That's amazing, have you cut out all fruit an veggies too and gone totally carnivore?
@@ianstuart5660 yes , eggs I am eating more... some time fish..for Carbohydrates I am eating rice because easy to digest...
Thank you for this video. I don't know how to deal with gut issues or explain to doctor what problems I am going through.
Try eating dates whenever you crave sweets my sister did that and she lost like 45 pounds in a matter of 6 months she included some exercising here and there she ate regular but included more veggies less carbs less sugar And more fruits. No calorie deficit just tried to eat healthy, read and coffee no sugar but ate dates (Arabic fruits) with them!

When I was younger I had chronic yeast infections, that wouldn’t go away. When I went into the Atkins diet (the most strict phase), for two weeks, and God completely healed me through the diet. I am grateful to good doctors like Atkins and doctor Berg, for their wisdom
I've had Ulcerative Colitis since 1987. Long story short the Carnivore Diet got me completely out of a flare and symptom free. Took a couple of months for my body to adjust and for my inflammation to go away but they did. It was Dr. Chaffee and Ken Berry TH-cam channels that inspired me to try it since I had nothing to lose. I wish I had known this way back I wouldn't have thrown away all those years away.
Mike congratulations way to go !
Full remission from UC for me since I went keto, to the point of getting constipation for the first time in my life.
Trying full carnivore now

After being taken to the hospital and diagnosed with Crohns I stopped all fiber as much as I could. I did that for several years and the Crohns attacks completely stopped. The ambulance ride when I was diagnosed was when I was taking fiber and had very heavy bleeding. In my opinion, fiber doesn't work like everyone thinks it does.
Dear Dr. Berg, you are saving me so much time spent on personal research and reading. Thank you for your work!
Oh my goodness! Thank you! I noticed a while ago that I am less constipated when I consume less fiber, but I always continued to eat a lot of vegetables bc "it's good for you". I knew I had gut issues but didnt know what to do abt it or what specifically. As I wait for my specialist appt, thank you so much!
Thank you for this information. The Gastroenterologist labelled me Ulcerative Colitis and Diverticulosis but I'm a Gastric Sleeve patient. 7 - 10 cups I can't do and have a hard time digesting lettuce. I'll do my research on fermented foods :)
Ive always had issues with fiber yet now I had to stop fiber , even lettuce and I feel better. I will reintroduce them slowly. This video is a confirmation that im doing the right thing. Thank you
This is why going full carnivore is so good for people with bowel issues
I am an awesome example of my own health and I feel like being fed with pesticides when I consume something which is hard for my gut and I suffer from the same for a minimum of two days.God has given as you said Sir our gut having good army of warriors who manage the war of Good and Bad.This is the reason we are existing. Thanks for your🙏 humble advice.
Also Dr. B could you go over what we should eat when trying the no fiber diet for 3 days? Thanks
I have IBS and the worst food for my IBS are Grains. They causę havoc in my gut. The best food is meat, full fat fermented milk products, green salad, mushrooms, eggs, avocado and strawberries.
You will love keto then.
It’s so depressing that everything that gives me any pleasure in life is somehow forbidden. Bread, pasta, potatoes, coffee, rice, ramen, artificial sweetener. Life without them seems more miserable than the issues they cause.
Find a way to disassociate pleasure from such foods.
Ramen🤢🤮
@@miltonbates6425 I’m honestly not sure how to go about that. I tried to do keto many times but I got so depressed I couldn’t deal with it. I was raised from the moment I could eat to associate food with happiness. Every holiday, birthday, special occasion, movie night, etc. They all revolved around food. I feel like I’m addicted to food. I wish they had rehab for eating disorders.

Hello Dr Berg, thank you for this video. I've recently been diagnosed with IBS but I believe its more serious than this when I get flare ups. Alongside this, I have Hidradenitis Supparativa. I don't know what to do or how to go about it. I'll try implement all your advice. Thanks again

I was just diagnosed with celiacs, I had my gallbladder removed, still have pain similar to gallbladder attacks but much milder, never thought the same pain off and on was from gluten, mind you my family suffers Ulcerative Colitits and Crohn's, but never heard of anyone with celiacs.
Salad is one of the worst things for my gut... Problems everytime :/
This is called a challenge. Did it with my son who had allergies for most grains. Yes, it is in my whole family so I’m seeing it as genetic
I had my colon removed due to chrons. Many times I blamed myself. Now I'm on a healing journey to forgive myself
I feel you. Had mine removed as well. Really wish the doctors promoted other alternatives. First thing they do is wanna cut ppl up.
Been going to gastrologist for years. I have found something that really helps for loose stools. Psyllium husk fiber never recommended to me.
Same happens in soil with bacteria... the pathogen only expresses when you suppress the good environment, microbes, nutrition, etc. Thanks Dr Berg!
After years doing IF and being Vegan, I think my body is revealing himself, about 2 years ago, became impossible for me to digest no fermented food, like pasta, affects mainly my brain, feelings of dizziness, mental fog and confusion, sadness and anxiety, I switched for gluten free pastas, and feeling okay, things like bread, pizza and etc, doesn't cause the same damage, but I avoid as much as possible or consume in other version! Pay attention to what you eat and how you feel about it, your body gives you signs!
What if you have Crohn's, IBD, UC or SIBO. What would be the best diet to fallow to help heal the gut??
Armando, follow a ketogenic diet or a carnivore diet, research them. This way of eating heals a lot of health issues

@@emeraldstrange Thank you so much and all the best!
Carnivore.
:)
Hi Dr Berg, could you please break down the test part at the end of the video ? I don't understand what is the indicators/symptoms we should expect to observe in order to deduce we have a gut issue : in particular step1 when removing fibers from our diet, how do we know we have a gut issue ? Is it if we feel better without them (more energy, no bloating, no stomac pain...) ? Thank you for clarifying.
I have the same questions
This is my story, too!
Wish I could do this , but I suffer from constipation. Doing keto with low carbs right now cut out all processed sugars and grains . I have colitis. Wish I could go full carnivore
@Alejandro Casarez most of the reason for this is ome of two thimgs or a combination
Weak stomach acid or to low of fat. Too much fat gives you diaharea too little gives you constipation. Would would take betain hcl with pepsin at every meal.
Be careful with organ they can increase uric acid. Its horrible.
Yum.
Very helpful video. Thank you Dr. Berg. The fake fibers are so terrible for the gut!
Yes!! Candida changes to hyphae I think which is the harmful fungus state right?😮
Dr Berg, please give a list of foods that will work for the no-fiber test
Also, Dr Berg, could you turn up the volume a little in your videos. The info you present is so important.
🧐The volume is 100% good. You need to figure out how to set the volume higher on your computer.
@@KETO_DIET i watch on my phone. I am an OTR truck driver. My volume is up as load as it goes. I have seen many others asking for the volume to be tirned up.
@@joejackson6205 There's a setting in your phone under sound settings. You should be able to set the media setting higher there. Might be set at half of what is should be. There is absolutely nothing wrong with Dr Berg's volume on the video's. I watch on my Computer and Smart phone with no volume issue. @@KETO_DIET i have done that before, checked again. Dr Berg's videos still sound about 10% lower than other channels I frequent.

@@joejackson6205 I can believe that the video volume on his channel are not as high as other channels. Not an issue for me though. Telegram is OK. People can post files to download that could carry a virus so avoid downloading to be on the safe side. Viewing and commenting there is safe.
Dr. Berg, I wish all doctors explained things this easily, but All they prescribed in the hospital is prednisone without finding out what is happening. The side effects of prednisone are too many.
And the worst thing to take if you have Lyme. It has its place but given out like candy to the unsuspecting.
Prednisone switches off your immune system
I asked for this video yesterday and you posted it!! Thank you as always!
Awesome video. I usually eat lots of raw vegetables and fruits using the OMAD protocol. However, for 3 weeks by now I'm experiencing diarrhea 3-4 hours after my meal. It's really discouraging and debilitating disrupting my days and sometimes my nights. I think I should give it a shot to eliminate fiber for 3 days. Or perhaps replace them with some sauerkraut or pickles.
Same happens to me. Did you figure out the solution?
Sounds like you have some sort of stomach inflammation, try eating the BRAT diet with no fat or dairy whatsoever for a week. I did this for a whole year before they finally removed my gallbladder
@@WrittenInFilm it appears fruits and vegetables are the issue, not fat and dairy. Not sure why you’d suggest eliminating a non issue.
