Just to note: what the light can reach will cure instantly, but what it can’t will take up to 24 hours to cure. When I use any kind of glue I don’t instantly put pressure on it. It might be more accurate to let your trials cure for a day and then record your findings. Also, I would stress test items based on their use (e.g. If you are using this on a tile, would you need it to withstand bending?). It might also help to consistently put the glue on the contact surface.

Well the official JB Weld commercial advertising the stuff they do exactly the same thing as the tester in this video does where they put the glue on Shine the Light for a few seconds then they use it and then they claim it's fully cured. So this guy is following their example to a T

I just used this to secure a metal key, to the plastic key fob. Worked great. I also used it fix windshield washer nozzles, again worked great.

So I just bought some of this as well, and used it on broken sunglasses, where the arm meets the frame, at the hinge. Worked like a champ! I mean, I was yanking on it pretty good and it hasn't come loose yet. Pretty impressive

Bought and used this today to repair my dash and to bond a plastic radiator cooling fan connector that was broken...

Its not meant for any of the jobs you used it for. It is meant to be used anywhere you would use regular superglue. I do alot of 3d printing and I use it to put my projects together.

The glue fully cures in 24 hours. If the object being glued is not transparent, the light will cure the glue around edge, which is great for holding the object together till the rest cures in 24 hours. Then you can stress it. Not so hard to understand.

Works good for installing rear view mirror in a car. Glue on the back of the metal tab the mirror slides onto and light up from the other side of the window.

Not sure why people are having bad experiences with it but I had just used it to glue some clear clips onto the bottom outline of a fountain overhang spillway for some LED light strips which is granite and damn those are on there👍

I think cause the uv light activated the binding agent and if you can’t see the bonding agent it’s pretty much just job weld glue but with the light it’s makes it super secure just did it with my side mirror

I excitedly bought some myself a few weeks ago with super high hopes. The instant curing aspect is a great characteristic and really makes this stuff wonderful to work with....the problem is that it simply will not bond ANYTHING! It’s really more like UV activated resin and that is about all,you can say about it. Pretty expensive for a just a small amount of resin!

When you say won’t bond to anything what do you mean? I’ve personally had success with this product, I’ve used it on wood plastic and even glass.

If you follow the instructions on the package, this stuff works great. The polyethylene tub won't bond with any glue. To fix that material you need to melt it back together.
Even though the JB commercial shows instant full cure, it says different in the instructions. The commercial is definitely exaggerating the speed of cure. Hit it with the light, then wait 24 hours for a permanent bond.

That just to hold it together. You still have to wait a full day ( 24hrs ) to fully cure.
Then and ONLY THEN you try pry apart.

If don’t know how ride a bike you won’t do it, so my advice is do not test what you don’t know how. There’s the right and wrong way of doing things and in this case with all due respect you did it the wrong way.

How about 🤔 applying a second or third coat on each half and light cure then join the two and surface cure it for the 24 hrs

    • @isaiahdenny3696
      @isaiahdenny3696 ปีที่แล้ว

That way you build up a surface that could bond becaus if the wood is soaking the glue up coat it and soon as it soak cure with the light two times on each half

Did you clean the surface first off? And it looks like your just putting the glue on top of the plastic not in between the two pieces. Just an observation.

No glue sticks to polyethylene, like that little tub.
When gluing endgrain on wood, I would size the end grain first. Apply the glue, let it soak in and activate it. Now apply the glue again and fit together. This is true with any liquid glue .
Any product can fail if not used on compatible materials and if the direction are not followed.
The JB company does themselves a disservice by not making it clear the light does not penetrate and cure the joint completely. There are adhesives used in dentistry that will do this, a few seconds of ultraviolet light and as far as I know, the cure is complete.
I clicked on this video wondering if the glue cures completely all the way through the joint, sorry to see it does not. This glue still has value, curing the exterior acts as a clamp, you just need to be patient to let the cure complete.

  • @christopherowens5040

The test on the wood hammer handle is a poor test for any type of glue. One, two flat surfaces have the least amount of bonding area. A wooden wedge, much like a biscuit for a joint would need utilized to create a joint that would have a chance of holding in real world use. Also, as with any glue, seizing the two parts to be glued together is a must, especially on end grand pieces. Fill the pores on both sides, allow to dry, and then glue them together, be it JB Weld, Titebond or Elmers. I've not used the JB SuperWeld I purchased because the container won't puncture the seal, so I cannot say how Super this stuff really is, but the demonstration of the hammer handle, where I started watching, let me know that this is not a good demonstration of obtaining a good glue bond.

I got the kind with no light and it is equally horrible. Says on the bottle 'bonds in seconds'. Nope. 3 hours went by and it was still completely liquid. Didn't work at all, wiped it off.

Worked on my side mirror held it while I kept applying glue the ends and the inside used the applicator on the edges and now I’m a let it cure for the 24hrs from now on gonna have to hand wash my car but definitely worth it

The Plastic is made out of ( PP ) or ( PE ) that are materials that no glue on erath can glue togehter. You can only glue it. Whit the help of a Primer

dude, the thing is, you weren't going to test the glue. You were going to make a video :):) that can collect views.
These are very different things. Your tests are not correct, you just wanted to evoke emotions in the viewer.
