    Love how you explain every little part of the process. Right down to showing us how you rinse! As a beginner, these small details are so helpful. Excellent work and so clear! You give hope that this could actually be done at home and not in a salon!!! Thank you!

    So my daughter got highlights yesterday, and she said they look to blonde. She wants to tone them done. So do I just use the toner on her highlights ?

    • @marenmakesit
      @marenmakesit  ปีที่แล้ว +4

      Hi again, thanks for your question!! If she is trying to go for a light brown highlight instead of bright blonde, I would use a Demi permanent hair dye as a toner like I do in the video. If I was just trying to tone my highlights, I use 7A and 8A mixed for reference when doing this. Does this help? Let me know how your daughters hair turns out!! So frustrating when what you ask for in the salon doesn’t turn out the way you hoped.

    I used a Demi 5C Natural Instincts on my hair about a month ago. It's really dark, and while I like it, I'm looking for a little bit more dimension. I would like to have lighter highlights using another Demi product. Is it possible to go lighter following your technique after using a 5C?

    New subscriber absolutely love how you do your hair I think I need to do some low lights in mine just to do the blending better and then go back in in the next three four months and put some more highlights in Thank you for your precise instructions very good very well demonstrated your hair looks wonderful 🤍🤍🤍

      Wendy, welcome to the channel. Sorry I am just responding now to your comment, but thanks for your kind words about my video & hair results!
      I think lowlights can definitely help blend things together especially between salon visits or if hair is getting too light from highlighting it over and over again. Let me know what you ended up doing with your hair if you see this! I’m curious to hear what you ended up doing!

      @@marenmakesitThank you for responding I think your hair come out great I think the 5n was perfect and I like how you left some light pieces I haven't really decided I think I might go more blonde and then do a shadow root something like you did, but if I was you I would go in and not try to weave it get a toothbrush and go no bigger than a shoelace size highlight you don't have to use any foils just lay it on your hair lightly go like three sections under the ears the temples and the top overall I think your hair looks wonderful I found out the key is to do a shoelace piece highlight with a tooth brush seriously works wonders but thanks I'm still considering cuz I need to get my hair cut I'm deciding on where to do that at because I have super long hair and I want it longer in the front kind of shorter in the back but not a bob maybe below the shoulders anyway it's a super nice cut and then go back into my highlights I'm at the point I don't trust any other hairdressers had too many bad experiences looking forward to more of your videos sorry for the long text

      @@wendy8561 Great to hear back from you Wendy! No need to apologize for the long text - if you haven’t noticed I love talking about hair haha.
      I’ve never heard of the toothbrush idea, so thanks for sharing that. I can imagine how it would work well since it allows you to saturate the strands of hair well with product and also be precise with your application since it’s a smaller tool than the brushes hair dressers use. Weaving through the hair especially on yourself can be tricking too. I will try this next time.
      I hear your frustrations!! It is so hard to find a hairdresser you trust, and when you’ve been burned a few times, it gets even more scary. I have a few horror stories of my own. I wish I had a good tip for you there. I have a few times gone up to people whose hair I really like that’s similar to mine and just asked them who does their hair. It’s hard because every stylist has different specialties too in terms of what they do best/most so even a friend with good hair isn’t always the best option for a recommendation if their hair is very different than yours. Other than that, I think the best thing you can do is communicate as clearly as possible by bringing in lots of reference pictures. Say what you don’t like and what you do about each one being as specific as possible. If you don’t like what they do, I think it’s also important to speak up and give them a chance to fix it. You paid for the service, they need to do what you asked for. Saying you like it when you don’t is just doing everyone a disservice because they don’t get honest feedback and you don’t like your hair.
      I’m sure you’ve already thought of a lot of these, so I’m just thinking out loud here.
      Anyways, thanks again for watching!! I have lots of great videos planned, so stay tuned.

      @@marenmakesit you sound exactly like me when you said thinking out loud here Yes completely I just paid a lady $500 for her not to put a toner on my hair oh my goodness if you only know you sound so much like me and for that stylist she was horrible when I turned around looked in the chair notice the time she had left the bleach on my hair for 3 hours so I'm dealing with a lot and then I call her straight away 10 minutes from home it was a horror story just going through that right before Christmas but hopefully my hair will continue on my healthy journey as I'm trying to correct it now with the pieces she didn't do I thought about going in with the toothbrush it is so easy but the key is the saturation Thank you so much for your feedback you are so nice

      @@wendy8561 Great minds think alike 😉 Wow, that’s so frustrating and disappointing to spend all that money to NOT like your hair. I’m sorry that happened to you. I would imagine leaving the bleach on that long certainly did some damage. I would definitely tone it at home if I were in your shoes. If you’re scared about uneven color, I would do at least the Wella Demi permanent color clear gloss just to fill in the open hair cuticle and make your hair feel more healthy and shiny again.
      You can also apply toner to damp hair which can help spread the color more evenly over the hair.
      Anyways let me know if you have more questions & have a great day!
