In my opinion, that also speaks against the crappy format of these big tournaments. Lucky pairings have such a big impact. 2016, for example, was a pretty funny tournament with all the surprises from smaller nations, no offence to Portugal, but that team definitely wasn't worthy of the title back then. A single win in regular time in the whole tournament and in the end benefiting from the fact that the really good teams had to knock each other out beforehand. This absolutely pathetic England team could become European champions and if that really happens, then you really can't take this trophy seriously any more.
