    They are awesome cars but only buy one with plenty of options like cruise, heated seats, Bose, climate, full leather and a good colour. Bear in mind clutches last a max of 70k miles and cost with fly wheel £2,100, brakes all round are £800 with discs, tyres are £900 a set and a suspension refresh is a good £2000 plus geometry. Oh and Porsche PCCM+ for apple car play etc is £1700 fitted at the Porsche OPC. But they were £50k cars new with options and once these items are address they are incredible machines.

      The clutches will last pretty much forever if you rev match your downshifts. But most owners don't know how to do that, which is why clutches tend to be toast after or before 70k miles.

      @@flat6croc I’ve owned Boxster since 1998 and owned over 16 of them and all manual covering over 1.8m miles of town, motorways and touring in Europe. And I stand by my original comment that a clutch is good for 70k miles !

    • @flat6croc
      @flat6croc ปีที่แล้ว +2

      @@martinboulden4388 Then you're doing it wrong, I'm afraid! I've owned two 986s and four 987s and taken three original clutches over 100k miles and one to over 130k miles. Do you rev match all your downshifts? I suspect not. If you rev match your downshifts and don't ride the clutch in traffic, the clutch will last almost indefinitely and certainly well above 70k miles.

    The rev limiter cuts in at 7,300rpm on a 987.1, so if you're revving it to 8k, it's been remapped for a higher limiter and that's an extremely bad idea.

    • @carchaps
      @carchaps  ปีที่แล้ว

      Hahaha I miss spoke, I meant the rev counter goes to
      8. Not revving to 8 I’m not a psychopath 🤣

  • @stephenfoster6940
    @stephenfoster6940 ปีที่แล้ว +1

    Are you *actually* taking it to 8,000 rpm? That’s well past the redline and puts unnecessary stress on the engine for no performance gain.
