    I think that Darcy should spread out the books on the bookshelf so that several of the shelves aren’t empty. Could face some books out or use knickknacks to pad the space until acquiring more books.

      Maybe he's just waiting to fill the rest of the bookshelf with more books? I have the same in my home. I love to read and now I finally have a place with enough space for a big bookshelf. I didn't manage to fill the whole thing but I know I will eventually. I figured it would be wasteful to spend money on stuff that has no use or sentimental value just to make the shelf look complete for now. Also, I don't think anyone who actually consults their library on the regular would agree to displaying their books horizontally or facing out haha

    • @haleymist09
      @haleymist09 ปีที่แล้ว +2

      I put in a few knickknacks and photos important to me and it really made a difference. Of course, there's not much room because I keep buying books lol. But it definitely needs to be meaningful things, not just any old trendy thing.

    • @RadCenter
      @RadCenter ปีที่แล้ว +1

      And start filling the shelves from the bottom up, instead of the top down. The way they are now looks top-heavy and frankly dangerous. PS That plant currently on top of the bookshelves could be placed on a wall bracket to the right of the shelves, where it would still get light but not clutter the floor space.

  • @maysachar

    The best solution for the TV is get a projector instead! Mounted high on the wall or from the ceiling - barely noticeable. I even have the sofa across from the windows so I just use roller shades to project on. You can even get shades with a remote control if you're extra lazy..
    Extra advantages - movies on a huge screen almost like a home cinema, plua it makes TV watching more of a deliberate experience, having conversation or reading be the default, instead of the other way around.
    Nowadays you can get a pretty decent projector more or less the price of a TV. Highly recommended!

    In the tiny apt. with the narrow dinning room consider this: make a built-in banquet along all 3 walls. A rectangular table can then be pushed up against the wall (as it is currently) but can be pulled out for guests to sit on that side in addition to the two chairs along the pathway. I think it could be a really cozy spot!

      @lauram1288 ปีที่แล้ว +3

      @@morgan3llis001 what do you prioritize in this space: 4+ seating, table space, open feeling? A bench along the wall could be an alternative to a banquet and also a narrower table could make it feel less cramped. If you don’t care to add anymore seating then focus on the feeling you want to evoke: cozy vs open. Cozy=more fabrics (rug, chair covers or pillows), textures perhaps a wallpaper, pendent lamp for mood lighting, etc. Open=large mirror, leggy chairs & table, bright artwork. Restaurants are good for inspo if you need it. This apt. is so cute I hope you give updates on what you end up doing!

    Love these reviews. Idea: Could you do a video covering ceiling fans? I feel like designers on tv avoid them and bash them, but in real life many of us can't. The rooms that were submitted look really nice, but with the suggestions I can see them going to the next level. I hope we see the followups. I especially liked the oval/rectangular dining table tip. If you want to keep the oval table (which I also love and think you should hold onto) then I think you could make it work in the living room! It would be nice to see out the windows when you're at the dining table, too. My living room is probably smaller than yours, but I still have my dining table in there because I have no other place for it. If you went that route then you could use the small space by the kitchen for storage. Something to consider!

      @@katyobrien1660 I was thinking the same thing! putting the dining table somewhere in the living area and into the nook where it was previously I would personally put some storage (if it's needed) or even the fridge if it's possible (and on fridge's former place a little prep table/breakfast nook)

    For the brooklyn apartment she should put an entry console or dresser in the awkward dining area. Once she moves the sofa in the other room there would be plenty of space for a dining area and she could enjoy the natural light from the windows. In the current set up, there’s not enough space for a person to move behind the table if the chairs were actually pulled out and it feels very cramped and dark, not welcoming.

    I love when you do these videos! I'm sure it takes more work on your end then maybe some other types of videos but I wish oyu'd do these more often! I just started watching this btw, I'm only like a minute in, lol. Eventually I might submit my home but I have so many family photos up, which I wouldn't want in the video so there's that, lol.

    Hello from Queens, NY! Love this style of video. I would love to see a video focusing specifically on paint color - I am wanting to paint and having a hard time finding a color that is cool (like hip cool not the color tone lol), cozy, but still stylish. Also, rugs!! I know you suggest Etsy but would love to see what you are liking right now. Most of what I am seeing is the ever so popular checker print and it's not the vibe lol.

    I'll be closing on my first home (a whopping 900 sqft) this month and hopefully I can get some furniture some day soon so Paige can rate my space, offer suggestions, trash it, etc. I'd love to own at least a few art pieces to hang on the walls, but it's so darn expensive I'll be lucky if I can afford the frames. I'm curious what Paige's thoughts on Murphy beds is-- or pull-out furniture in general 🤔

    Great video. Re: last apartment. I think the oval table and chairs should peninsula out from between the windows and the dresser and mirror should go to alcove as a vestibul situation (painting over dresser). Or not.

    I'm sorry, but why add a lamp in the already small kitchen? Just for the aesthetics? Wouldn't it be very impractical, especially since you always need counter space in small kitchens?

      It's a thing. It could be practical if the ceiling is too low for overhead lighting. I've seen lamps in weirder places, like bathroom sinks.
