Thanks for your advice. I am using Skike V9 Tour and I am trying to get use to classic technique.

Hi Andrew! Great Lesson! Is it possible to do no poles dp exercise on skate rollers? I tried this on swenor skate rollers and failed soo much, no forward momentum is generated. Am I doing something wrong or I just need a classic rollers?

Кирилл Андреевич I think it will be very hard without classic roller skis because of the ratchet

Glad I saw this comment and answer. I was about to try this on my Swenor Skates but now it seems only Classic skiers can hop? 🐇

How close should the pole be to my chest? I feel like I can give my triceps a rest if I bring the poles closer to my chest, this way I use more bicep/back. or am I tripping?

I don't think you are tripping:) I believe there is not just ONE placement for the poles/arms. On steep uphills it will make sense to keep the poles closer to the chest just like you are talking about. On flatter terrain where the skier is moving with more speed the hands can come out a bit more. Instead of thinking about the hands in relation to the chest I like to think about the elbow in relation to the pole shaft. The closer your elbow is to your pole shaft the more you will be able to use lats and back muscles.

Nowadays only the "first" type of DP is considered good technique. It's the only way to make double-poling NOT a killer of your lower back.
You want your hands to decide when the upper body comes back into position for the next stroke: When your Hands pass the hips - your upper body comes back up. It's about timing.
