- Did you know that Bakken opened in 1583 and is the world's oldest amusement park, but the park didn't have a coaster until this one opened in 1932?
The first time we filmed this side friction coaster was just before new trains from KumBak were added in 2010 and we have to admit that we prefer a brakeman controlling the ride rather than the way it runs now.

Those trim brakes are brutal, I thought the train was going to stop in certain areas. 100% agree, it was better with a brakeman.
Agreed, it looks like that ride has some bursts of speed followed by a snail in molasses going uphill on a cold day moments.
to add on to this its at my home park its super rough and the restraints are so bad you WILL get jackhammered by them

I can see how they've tried to make it more tame into a more family-friendly experience, but here's an idea, what if they could program into the system two different ride settings, this one where the trim brakes are brutal, and another setting where the ride can go faster? The family setting and the thrill setting.

This is my Summer Tradition! Thanks so much for the great vids. I'm on a fixed budget, and have Crohns. Most parks are expensive and hot 🔥. It may not be as fun, yet I put the ride on my big screen and enjoy! 😊

Close enough. It is from 1932 but was built to blueprints from the 1920's. An exact copy of it had been built in the 1920's for an event in Malmö. Also in thwe 1950's another copy was built in Finland at Linnanmaki right as it opened. It was intended to be temporary but has since become a permanent addition to that amusement park. The one in Finland still features the original trains with a brakeman onboard controlling the speed, making it more comfortable and more thrilling.

Yeah the Kumbak trains on this have been a disaster. Sadly it doesnt look like anything is changing any time soon, as its not owned by a private entrepeneur but by the Danish government. Specifically the department of nature. And Danish politicians and other officials are more so obsessed with penny pinching and cutting corners for efficiency rather than spending more to provide good experiences. As much as I'd wish they'd rebuild the old brakeman trains or at the very least order new trains from a reputable manufacturer that won't cause the restraint to jackhammer into me. It has only gotten worse for every year that has passed since the new trains were introduced.
