Yeah. And unfortunately, there is no point. However, the gondolas are way too heavy and since German regulation prohibits them from unlocking them at full power (since you could hypothetically flip upside down at the loading station and experience an honestly red-out inducing -5G, the operators don't even bother anymore. The zipper has always been my favorite ride at my local fair. I love how unpredictable it is and the amount of force pulled on you at each turnaround is insane. It's a bit harder to ride now as an adult but it doesn't stop me.
Haha glad I wasn’t the only one to mention the zipper. That is one ride I have never gotten back on. As a kid my brother whom was 5yrs older than me got us spinning so fast it flung me out of the seat and buckles and I tumbled around the cage until the ride stopped. I was covered in bruises for weeks and broke my pinky finger.

For a long time, I was unable to go on thrill rides because there was a ride named the "Booster" at my local fair. It was the first time that I went on a ride that made you go upside down. Unfortunately, I got stuck on the ride upside down for over 20 minutes, and I panicked. For years, I refused to go on any ride, but thankfully, now I'm okay.
Big agree on that Zipper, when you hit the corner while it's spinning, it basically whip-cracks your whole body and force spins your goldola, absolutely intense. Love it.

I rode a Speed XXL model once and never again. My ride in particular got the short end of the stick, and the weight distribution was probably the worst it could be. Every time we came around back down to Earth, my seat rotated facing the ground, and continuing to face the ground, including through the transition of going back up. So, I was getting pushed into my harness pretty hard and clinching my legs into the seat to keep me from sliding forward. Every single time lol.

I love the Zipper! The best is when everything lines up just right and your gondola hurtles toward the ground face first only to whip around at the last second. So much fun!

Thanks for refreshing the memories of my youth. Love the old rides...roll-o-plane, air-o-plane, and the Looper. Loved them all, and of course, the roller coasters too!
I can't tell you how excited I was to hear you call the spaceship ride Gravitron!!! So many people I have encountered don't remember the original name. When I was younger, Gravitron floors dropped out!! Most people don't remember that detail either.
I do! Before the Clay County Fair here in Green Cove Springs, Florida which takes place every late March, early April renamed their Gravitron, Starship 2000, its floor dropped out.
I remember crying my eyes out because I was too small to ride the Zipper at my local carnival. The following year I was tall enough...and instantly regretted it. My dad had the operator spin it as soon as we got on it and little Meg almost lost her funnel cake! Lol. Another great memory I have with my daddy. :)
I've been riding the Zipper since 2010 and till this day, it is STILL my No.1 favorite flat ride of all time. And seeing it made 1st place on this list really makes me happy. 😁
I just LOVE the Gravitron. It's not particularly intense imo but the fabulous interior, the gravity pushing you down to the bed as you feebly play with resisting physics, and the cozy nature of the spinning makes it fun at all levels any day or night.
Thanks for this great video! For me, flat rides (especially the thrilling ones) are equally as interesting as roller coasters - and I always appreciate it, when these attractions get some love 😊
Scat2 at Beech Bend in Kentucky is by far the most intense flat ride we've encountered. The crushing positive g's make it feel as if there's a rhinoceros sitting on your chest for 3 minutes straight! The Haunted Mine Drop at Glenwood Caverns is a close second, but there was a tragic accident on it just 2 weeks after we last rode it, and its future is still uncertain as far as we've heard.
The ride has reopened as Crystal Tower with a new theme, fully enclosed gondola, and car-style seat belts that riders are not allowed to buckle themselves.
My one ride on the Zipper at my county fair was the single most terrifying experience I’ve ever had on an amusement ride, glad to see I’m far from the only one
For years, that ride taunted me as it loomed in the distance at my local state fair. I’ve always looked at it as kid and I finally rode it as an adult ….never again lol
I've ridden the Super Shot plenty of times already, the most thrilling is in Enchanted Kingdom, here in the Philippines, it's one of the two stand alone rides in the park that you can see miles away, and just like what you said, is exactly what I experienced there. Feels like my soul left my body, since I was facing straight down even tho my auntie told me not to😂
Some fair ride ops are cool! I remember I went on a Zipper with a friend of mine at a local carnival a long time ago. We were the only ones riding, and when it was supposed to end, the operator kept moving the ride back and forth so we ended up flipping 10 times in a row at the bottom.
The Zipper is indeed intense the main thing that sucks is when your not moving and just rocking back and forth as another cage is being loaded/unloaded. I did it one time at the Jacksonville, Florida Fair, knocked it off my bucket list but never again! That feeling in your stomach when your rocking back and forth is not worth it in my opinion.
The Gravitron might be my favorite flat ride ever, so glad to see it place highly. Anyone else wish they could have the aux cord when you get on though? What a cool DJ Set to play in.
In case this comment makes through the shoutout section, I'd just wanna let you guys know that we are getting our first B&M coaster here in Brazil and our RCCA is soon going to get a RMC makeover, all in the next 5 years. Even tho it's only a dive coaster, that's still a huge staple for us brazilian enthusiasts. Keep that great work TPC, much love from the Federal District of Brazil! (Also Monte Makaya and SFOG's Deja Vu are confirmed to reopen in Mirabilandia Brazil around 2025)
@@nobodybelievesunderscores4122 yep, one of Hopi Hari's owners said in an event that they just need to refurbish the other aspects of the park first (which will happen until 2025) and then they will contact RMC to do the job!
It's been a long time since I've ridden Roundup, but I remember once the turntable fully lifted, it was a very hypnotic back and forth motion. If I closed my eyes, I could almost fall asleep.
Ahhh yes, the Zipper, I remember when I first went on the Zipper. It took me like five minutes to decide to get on lol, but after I got on, I loved it! The forces it pulls is unlike anything I have ever ridden.
Hi TPC, loving the content as always.... I was wondering if you could do a video for thrilling rides built before 1950s? I'm really curious about how intense they were able to make rides back in the day (I know that video will likely be challenging to do).
I went on 1: top scan, known as Samurai at lagoon; 2: Top-flip, known as cliff hanger at lagoon; 3: gravatron: 4: the zipper. I was extremely surprized they were on this list, let alone all in top11. I was thrilled by the suggestions of other rides.
I recently went to the Sacramento county fair, and they had a lot of rides mentioned here. Unfortunately, the newer rides have a green light to say if your belly is too big, even if you're snug and in place. I'm only 204 pounds and couldn't ride the speed XXL. It's very depressing. However, I could ride a smaller version of the Inversion 24. Very fun, and of course, the zipper. A lot of new rides have this green light, though, that anyone without a flat six-pack tummy or a small kid can now not ride. Gives me incentive to lose more weight and try again next year.
There is a Super Shot and a speed XXL at a themepark near me in Bogotá, Colombia. Those are wild (talking from experience). You can hear the click on the super shot and go "oh shit".
Thank you for posting the I miss a lot of the flat rides as it seems like most of the amusement parks just have roller coasters now and we can find these rides at carnivals and fairs. I've been on majority of the ones mentioned in the video flat right as I love them.
I went on the round up with a friend, it was absolute madness. A ride that I had never expected to go on and I loved it. I do think it was a bit long though, got a little bit uncomfortable near the end. I would still recommend it’s a great laugh 😂
The first one (aka)the super air race, ive been on it. Its now called 'Atlantic Aviator'. At luna park. The ride was so fun. It was my first ever upside down ride. I recommend it for starters!
At Six Flags Magic Mointain and many other parks, the "Rotor" was known as "Spin Out". The empty space where it once stood is still visible in the park if you are across from the Gold Rusher and about to trek up that hill. You can look to your right and it's near the empty unused gazebo thing that used to serve as the lower station for the defunct Dragon ride (it was a transport ride that would get you up that side of the hill; the upper station is now used for Ninja).
The sky roller version at canada's wonderland is my absolute favorite ride. I get motion sick easily but for some reason it leads into the top speed so smoothly it feels amazing
I've actually been on Sledgehammer a few times, I never realized it was that rare of a design. It sort of surprises me because it's a really good ride.
@cursedstevehalloweenandgam1037 Yeah, during my stays there, there are usually a lot of maintenance issues with it, but it's always great when I can get at least one ride in!
The first flat ride I've ever been on that turned me upside-down is at Legoland California outside San Diego. My mother and brother were in Africa at the time.
The zipper was the first upside down roller coaster I’ve ever been on. It’s amazing. I had a big lunch and I threw up almost immediately after I still wanna ride it again
I definitely used to turn myself upside down in the Gravitron. Lol My stomach couldn't handle these rides now but all of them look insanely fun!! The Zipper was the only ride to make me cry. I was 11 lol
The Capriolo 10P is a tamed down version. The original model, Capriolo 8, is also able to do that upside down dive, but engage in a series of flips afterwards. It's just more whippy overall and is a much more intense experience
Totally agree, I've been on both if them and nothing beats the negative G's of "Eclipse" going upside down through the station at maximum speed. It's shockingly intense 😳
Before I rode Rebuliço, the newest Zamperla's Air Race in Beto Carrero World, Huss' Top Spin was my favorite flat ride. Even though the only one I rode, Hopi Hari's Ekatomb, don't operates at full cycle, with three spins at most, I still found out way too thrilling. Unfortunately, it's the only one in Brazil as well. The other ride I rode on this list was Top Scan. When I was visiting Knott's Berry Farm, my mom wanted to ride Sol Spin. I asked her if she was sure of that, and she said "yeah, let's go". She though it was a gentle ride. At the first spin, she yelled really loud that I couldn't help laughing at her! I did not enjoy the ride per se, but her reaction worth it!!
I used to love the Round Up Ride when I was little. It was at Riverside Park before it became Six Flags New England. The floor dropped out below you as well, leaving you pinned to the wall by gravity. But when I got older, the ride began to make me feel sick.
Oh man zipper is my favorite carnival ride next to the KMG Experience. I got a ride where i was able to get the car to constantly flip though the whole ride. I counted up to to 52 flips such a great ride and no midway is complete without a Zipper.
My experiences: • The Remix is just insane. My feet start tingeling because the blood rushed down there. Very very fast ride. • The Star Shapes weren't all that intense. I rode the one at Skyline Park and the traveling one "High Energy" in germany. They are nice and comfy and not really that fast, but pleasent! The new brakes in the gondolas are just a dealbreaker for me. Now they are reeeeaaaally slow. Look at "Air" from the UK with the inner seats missing, almost no swinging occurs. • The Rocket was nice, but repetetive. Rode it on the Oktoberfest. A more thrilling version of a Starflyer pretty much, but the flipping is at a more graceful pace for more hangtime. I rode it while it was raining like crazy, but still very fun. • Yeah the KMG speeds are awesome. I prefer the Booster Maxx models by Fabbri (why listed below). • The Top Scan has to be my fav. The laterals in the outer seat are unmatched. My face is glued to the restraint. This is just crazy. the "Skater" on german fairs cranks it up to the max everytime. • Maybe I'm just used to the Top Spins because I've ridden them a ton, but I don't find them all that intense anymore. We have 2 traveling in germany and one suspended one at Phantasialand. Awesome, but the traveling ones have very uncomfortable restrains. Also I prefered the Top Spin 2 models. They are smaller, but the flipping is crazy fast. Best: KMG Discovery 1.0. • The Capriolo 10P is a mixed bag. I actually prefer the older models without the extra spin. It always feels like you crash head first down which is more terrifying to me personally. But I have to say: These were the most intense negative g's I've ever experienced. My head wanted to pop after 3 rides in a row. This is like the Top Scan no joke. You really should be in a good condition when riding these. • The Inversion 24 is fun, but goes only upside down once. ONCE. It just takes so long and needs so much power to get up there. The positives are good, though. • I have to disagree with the HUSS Booster: It does not feel like a Mondial shake, not at all. A shake really feels like a breakdance thanks to it's aditional axis of rotation and it is a LOT tamer than the Booster. The laterals are insane. One moment you're upright, the other moment you get flug upside down instantly. The sideways swinging also can give some awesome airtime when everything is right. • The Rotor is advertised as a family ride in germany on the Oktoberfest. The laughing from people who never tried it before (mostly tourists) is always a joy to watch. - Rides which could be on the list for next time: • Soriani & Moser Top Star Tour. I rode Predator in germany. Not only does it look impressive, the negative g's when it flips back to normal are shockingly strong. I didn't expect that. • Technical Park Pegasus models. Great speed, great laterals and pretty much the same amount of flipping as with a top scan. The op can lock the gondolas at the top so you blast though the station upside down for some wicked negative g's. My fav. with the Top Scan. • Mondial Heartbreaker. Not the most intense, but lots of flipping on a very small footprint. Really really fun! • Huss Take Off. The ones on germany still go full speed. Heavy positive g's like a never ending pretzel loop. • Fabbri Contact. Really heavy positive g's and laterals. Really odd looking, but man what an odd but intense experience. • Fabbri Heavy Rotation. Also really insane positive's in your back and very fast spinning. Similar forces to the Take Off. • Fabbri Booster Maxx 55/16. Really really fast and crushing positives. I case you the reader didn't notice: I love flat rides and I rode them pretty much all my life. If you made it to the end here: respect mate.
Wow!
@Fox on a rollercoaster: nice take, I agree with most of it! The Skater is particularly brutal, I had pain in my neck for several days after a four minute cycle with maximum speed continously 😮
The Remix is quite fun, went on it 3 times with my step-sister. I went on something similar to the Gyro Swing/Giga Discovery at Oaks Park in Oregon, and it was very fun. I did both the 180 and 360. I go on the Gravitron almost every year at the fair, it is a favorite of one of my ex-friends. This year at the fair, I went on the Rotor [called the Rave at my fair] 3 times and it was super fun. I went onto something very similar to the Zipper as well, but I don't remember much of it and my step-sister didn't allow me to flip the cart.
Time machine is definitely worthy of the list, I have ridden it a couple of times and yes it is a hell of a ride, even the footage makes me feel nauseous. Must pop down for another go 🤪
I rode a remix model at the CNE just last week, and let me tell you, it deserves to be on this list. By the time the ride was over my entire lower body was buzzing from having all the blood pulled to my feet. 10/10 would recommend
Been on the zipper once as a teenager…. And that was enough for me!! It was more terrifying than the Doppel Looping. It was a staple of the Canadian National Exhibition in the 90’s. It was a simple double looping coaster but it only had a metal restraint bar… that was it. No seatbelts… just the bar.
Some attractions on this list u see everywhere like the Power Surge, Speed XXL and Airborne on what we call in Dutch: Kermis or Fair in English..Every year they travel to countries like Germany, The Netherlands, Belgium , the UK , France and even Spain. KMG and Intamin makes it far more entertaining for people who wants a little bit more adrenaline and it is high quality..
Heads up - there is a working Looper ride at Knoebels park in Elysburg, PA. I was at Knoebels June 7, 2023 for Senior Day, and it was across from Stony Gables candy store. They didn't have enough people to open the ride that day, but the Looper is still there. Now if they only had a Chance Toboggan ride...
Sledge Hammer/ Jump2 is pretty fun but not that intense, Canada’s Wonderland is my home park and it has a lot of unique designs and intense rollercoasters such as Leviathan, Behemoth and Yukon Striker. Sledge Hammer is a one of it’s kind as it’s the first and only jumping machine in the world. As he said, it was custom made for Canada’s Wonderland which I love
@ThemeparkCrazy I would like to point out that the seats of the inversion 24 can flip, like its little sister. But Hoefnagels only does it when its not that crowded on the funfairs. I had several rides on it where they did flip, but when they flip, it doesnt make a full inversion with the main arm. Its then more like an XXL swing. But when its crowded on the fair, or when the ticket price is lower (on familien tag/family day) i have yet to expernience it where it does swing. Usually on these days, or when its crowded, it just goes 1 time upside down, and then it lands already.
The Top Scan (Samurai) was one of the first thrill rides I remember from growing up close to Lagoon. It helped me gain an appreciation for thrilling flat rides, and sparks the adventurous nature in me.
I have never ever even come close to even greying out on any coaster or flat.....then i rode time machine in Southend.....full on blackout!!! Most intense ride i have ever done!!!
The Jump 2 looks so much fun! I've been on something similar at a place called John's Incredible Pizza Company, but it was smaller, and it was one of my favorites things to do whenever i went
I remember Salt & Pepper as a kid but was too young to ride, so never rode it. Same is true (in the same park too) with the Zipper; Playland in Vancouver in the late 1970s. The Giga Discover at SFMM is is doubled at SFGA NJ right? New Jersey is where I rode it in 2022. Now I thought Flying Fury was at Tivoli Gardens Copenhagen and that it no longer exists. Does it? As for the Zipper: I still haven't ridden it but intend to the second I have the "Chance". I'm more of a coaster enthusiast but good flat rides are in contention for the best rides in any amusement park. I'm happy with what I've experienced but I can admit I'm missing out on one thing (until I ride it): the Zipper! Thanks for posting!

That's an amazing idea! Thanks for the suggestion!
So much fun!
I just love watching these videos.
My one ride on the Zipper at my county fair was the single most terrifying experience I’ve ever had on an amusement ride, glad to see I’m far from the only one
I feel like it's a right of passage to ride the Zipper at least once. I rode one time as a kid, and I was so scared that I never went on it again
@@Kris_Kittenso true! I chickened out so many times as a kid but finally did it and remember screaming my face off 😂
@@angelicajacobs584 I went on it when I was 7 with I think my cousin, and I almost cried lol
For years, that ride taunted me as it loomed in the distance at my local state fair. I’ve always looked at it as kid and I finally rode it as an adult ….never again lol
Same!@@Kris_Kitten
Hey the not moving part is fun xd you can do flips and stuff "i was on the unharnessed one!"
my carnival is in town rn. I have always been to scared to try the zipper, but I might just give it a go.
MONTEZUM GETTING RMC'ED?
@@nobodybelievesunderscores4122 yep, one of Hopi Hari's owners said in an event that they just need to refurbish the other aspects of the park first (which will happen until 2025) and then they will contact RMC to do the job!
@@tufab3494 LETSGOOOOOO
@@tufab3494 how many RCCA's will that leave in operation then?
DEJAVU FROM SFOG BEING REBUILT AFTER LIKE 15 YEARS AFTER IT WAS TORN DOWN? LET'S GOOOO
Personally I find the Roundup super chill. No fear just vibes.
Right? Same for Gravitron in my opinion.
same
agree
Same
It's been a long time since I've ridden Roundup, but I remember once the turntable fully lifted, it was a very hypnotic back and forth motion. If I closed my eyes, I could almost fall asleep.
Ahhh yes, the Zipper, I remember when I first went on the Zipper. It took me like five minutes to decide to get on lol, but after I got on, I loved it! The forces it pulls is unlike anything I have ever ridden.
I remember riding a zipper, it was the closest I ever got to greying out, it was INSANE.
Hi TPC, loving the content as always.... I was wondering if you could do a video for thrilling rides built before 1950s? I'm really curious about how intense they were able to make rides back in the day (I know that video will likely be challenging to do).
That’s an awesome idea!
the silly disclaimer at the beginning is funny, i do find myself feeling sick watching some ride povs XD i still love them though!
The Tivoli Warps and Northern amusements superstar are pretty intense funfair rides as well. My favourite are probably the inversion 360 and top scans
#1 is rightfully deserved! I’ve been obsessed with that ride since i was 8, I was so fascinated by it as a kid.
No Flying Circus? I don't think the original exists anymore but I feel it definitely deserves a spot on the list.
I wanted to focus on currently operating attractions for this one. But that ride is definitely worth discussing in a future video!
I've loved riding so many of these featured rides over the past 30 years, long live the ingenuity of great flat rides!
There is a Super Shot and a speed XXL at a themepark near me in Bogotá, Colombia. Those are wild (talking from experience). You can hear the click on the super shot and go "oh shit".
There are so many of these I would love to ride and I always love It when you upload as I love your content so much
I love that Slegehammer is on this list.....my fav flat ride at Wonderland!! 🥰
Thank you for posting the I miss a lot of the flat rides as it seems like most of the amusement parks just have roller coasters now and we can find these rides at carnivals and fairs. I've been on majority of the ones mentioned in the video flat right as I love them.
I love these videos!
Hey , you should look into Canadas Wonderlands new first of its kind flat ride "tundra twister" it was a very fun thrill ride !
I been on it back in 2012 and I did like it. I wanted to ride it again in 2019 but mechanical problems with the ride prevented it lol.
I like when theme park crazy uploads videos about flat rides :D
The zipper was the first upside down roller coaster I’ve ever been on. It’s amazing. I had a big lunch and I threw up almost immediately after I still wanna ride it again
Excellent video sir. Have you ever heard of the enterprise?
I rode the Gravitron in my hometowns' Playland's Castaway Cove in Ocean City. NJ and as soon as it ended, I got so sick that I had to go home.
I have been on the speed xxl before it was crazy but fun 😄👍
These ride models are INSANE!
I used to love the Round Up Ride when I was little. It was at Riverside Park before it became Six Flags New England.
The floor dropped out below you as well, leaving you pinned to the wall by gravity.
But when I got older, the ride began to make me feel sick.
I work on the space roller and was good to see you added the one I work on in Australia
Absolutely loved the Rotor at Riverside/ Six Flags New England back in the day!
So many great memories from the original, RIVERSIDE PARK!🎉
Oh man zipper is my favorite carnival ride next to the KMG Experience. I got a ride where i was able to get the car to constantly flip though the whole ride. I counted up to to 52 flips such a great ride and no midway is complete without a Zipper.
My experiences:
• The Remix is just insane.
- Rides which could be on the list for next time:
• Soriani & Moser Top Star Tour.
Wow!
Top Star Tour and Pegasus for the WIN
@@MrMakoFL I love both of them. Especially the travelling ones.
Must pop down for another go 🤪
I use to work at adventure Island the time machine is extremely fun
I rode a remix model at the CNE just last week, and let me tell you, it deserves to be on this list. By the time the ride was over my entire lower body was buzzing from having all the blood pulled to my feet. 10/10 would recommend
I legit couldn't walk straight for about half an hour after riding that thing.
Great video peter!
The rotor reminds me of the Finish Fling they used to have at Worlds of Fun! I only rode it once and it was terrifying. I was sliding down a little.
Love the S&S Swing, more parks need these.
KMG and Intamin makes it far more entertaining for people who wants a little bit more adrenaline and it is high quality..
just seeing these attractions on the video give me chills as i were on each one of them... one day i will ride it all!
#6 is my all time favorite thrill ride!!!
Same!!
4:40 I remember riding one of those but always was too small to flip them around. I eventually did it when I was older. These rides are fun.
ZIPPER NUMBER ONE BABY!!! It's my favorite flat for a reason! 🔥
@ThemeparkCrazy
I would like to point out that the seats of the inversion 24 can flip, like its little sister.
This video is awesome
Thanks for sharing awesome content that is fun enjoyable and entertaining to watch
Awesome video!!
11:01 Jump2 straight up, gives me Claws of Doom from Roller Coaster Tycoon 3 vibes
My first time on a Top Scan was the only time I’ve been openly bawling on a ride. I was not expecting it to be as intense as it was.
The Jump 2 looks so much fun! I've been on something similar at a place called John's Incredible Pizza Company, but it was smaller, and it was one of my favorites things to do whenever i went
8:01 said this in the 20 carnival rides video
Nothing Can Beat The Zipper's Ride G-Forces. The First time I rode it, I was about 9 years old.
I have the fortunate distinction of riding the Zipper. It's truly the most intese experiece i ever witnessed.
These are all so dizzying! I could never 😵
I'm disappointed that the Rock-o-Plane isn't on here. They're absolutely insane.
I was disappointed as well, I think that it is way more insane than rides like the Round Up.
