    FAQ:
    Who is this lady?
Gina Petitti was born in 1935 in Faeto, Italy. Her family ran a farm in Italy and she met her husband, Vito, in the same town. In 1970 Gina, Vito, and her 4 children immigrated to America. Gina’s husband passed away in 2012, but she is surrounded by a large family, which includes 9 grandchildren, and lives 5 minutes away from her eldest daughter in New Jersey. Gina spends her time cooking, gardening, and being an active member of her local Church.
Where does Gina get her recipes?
Most of these recipes are from what she learned growing up in Italy, but some of them have evolved over time. She has also learned new recipes from friends and family in America. She is always eager to try new things.
Why is no one helping her in the video?
Grandma Gina doesn’t want help! Usually, it’s because we will slow her down or not do it “her way.” For the videos we only show her, but when the camera cuts we jump in and help form the cookies or prep for the next step.
Why don’t we buy her a new...?
Grandma Gina has a closet and garage full of new gadgets, spoons, forks, pots, etc… but she doesn’t like them because she is used to doing it with her old tools. She has fun getting her hands dirty!
    Who is behind the camera?
Her retired son-in-law films, her daughter helps her prep, and she usually has one or two grandkids in the kitchen.
    Does Gina read the comments?
We print out and show her how much love she gets from all her viewers, and she is very thankful and hopes you enjoy her cooking! Your comments bring her lots of joy, laughter, and inspiration to make more videos to share with you.
Thank you for watching, we hope you subscribe, and we will see you in our next video!

My grandmother made this all the time, she said the secret is the butcher slicing the meat, thin but not too thin…..sometimes she made the filling with ricotta, romano and mozzarella mixed together with the spices, egg, and prosciutto ( diced )…..cooked in the sauce…..so good…..

    Dear Comare Gina,
My name is Jim D'Eramo and when I watch and hear you . . . I sometimes begin to cry because you sound and act like my grandma who died long ago. She was from Abruzzo and spoke English with the same accent you do . . . and she cooked exactly like you do. You make me miss my youth and all the hours I spent watching her and my mother in the kitchen. Watching you is like going back home for a little while. May God Bless You Always.

One of my earliest memories was my grandfather (he was Maltese) making braciole. I guess this was 52-53 years ago. It was a big deal to make this, must have been a special occasion. If I remember correctly, he added olives and eggs - but I was pretty young, I could be wrong.
Thank you for showing me how to make this, I'm definitely going to try it. It's been a LONG time since I've had this.

Braciole is my favorite Italian food! My mother used to make it when us kids were younger, and as we moved out and she slowed down she never made it again...until one New Years Eve 1999 that I had planned to spend with her for dinner to celebrate the Millennial 2000 (something she never imagined she'd live to experience) and she surprised me with her homemade braciole! It was delicious--what a way to ring in the New Year...the New Millennium! She passed away shortly after that.

OMG Gina, you brought back so many memories of my grandma n mother! Sunday was sauce day at our house, simmering all day. Sausage, meatballs, pork ribs n the braciole ♥️ Grandma was Sicilian n my mom was Sicilian and Calabrese. (My other side was Irish and I most times use tomato juice in my sauce, lol) Grandma passed 3 weeks before my 16th birthday at age 66 n mom passed 2017 at age 92. I miss their cooking. They always mixed the cheese, parsley n some garlic powder with a little breadcrumbs so the cheese had something to melt into instead of disappearing into the sauce. I make this 5-6× a year. Thank you for your recipe, the 1st version looks so yummy! Keep being you. Your accent reminds me of visiting relatives in the brownstones in Brooklyn where the men grew tomatoes in the front yard n sat under trellises next to their fig trees drinking wine while the women cooked n congregated on the huge front porches! Beautiful memories ❣️🍴❣️

Yes, grandma Gina also reminds me of my grandmother who's mother was also Sicilian. My grandmother also cooked for me all of Gina's recipes like Braciole, Eggplant Parmesan and of course spaghetti sauce. When I cooked my spaghetti sauce I always thinned my sauce with a good red wine, but I like your idea of using tomato juice, maybe even V8 with a little more spicy flavor! I also put chopped black olives into my sauce for added richness.

Beautiful woman who has a thousand years of cooking knowledge in her head. She has passed it on to us through this medium and thank Baccus she has. I wonder if she has any daughters or granddaughters she has passed on her skills to. When My father, daughter and I would return 'home', my mother would be set up for baking an Irish soda bread scone. My daughters' apron would be waiting on her and as she put on her apron, that her granny and her made together, I was, in no uncertain terms, told to, 'GO AWAY DADDY'. Later, I was presented with half of the best scone in Ireland.

I love how you tell different ways to make the same dinners. Not everyone has the same taste or the imagination to alter a recipe. You really are a great teacher. Your videos would make a wonderful newlyweds gift. Feed him ( or her ) like this & you will cement the marriage ! How could anyone leave if they knew they were coming home to a beautiful mate & TRUE ITALIAN DINNERS ! A thousand thanks for a job well done 👍

I lost my Mom and 3 sisters, and miss them every day. My Mom was a great cook, too. She cooked for the priests at her church, 5 days a week til her death in 2007 at age 77. She didn't need the money as much as she needed to cook for those she loved and respected. You remind me of her. 💕💕💕
She would have loved watching you, like I do. Thank you Gina, and family, you are an absolute joy. Love you!

I wrote down some of her recipes and I try to duplicate them but it’s not the same. I love these videos and I’m going to try and make this tomorrow. God bless this sweet lady and her family ❤️

My wife is Italian, and I'm Norwegian. We both have recipes from our Moms and Grandmothers, and we both enjoy cooking. Been together for 49 years. I was lucky enough to know her Grandma for many years before she passed. She cooked and spoke just like Gina. Although we learned so much from them, I wish we could have made recordings like this. She's a gem. And like her, all their measurements were based on years of experience.

I love watching you! I used to make this with my adoptive grandfather who lived next door to us. He used to put raisins in his. We thought he did that bc we were kids, but apparently it was the recipe from the region he came from. We missed out on cooking with our grandmother who was from Salandra, Italy. She died 20yrs before I was born... She was an AMAZING cook and baker. It was so simple and easy for her she didn’t take much time to teach my mom. My mom was a good cook and baker but my father would not eat anything Italian or exotic. 😏. My sister and I carried on the Italian traditions of cooking and baking. Hearing you sing and talk brings me back to when I was a little girl with grandpop. ❤️

I was reading the FAQ section and it made me smile...
First, Gina reminds me of my Italian grandmother...
She always cooked large portions...shed say when asked why she always cooked so much food..."thats the italian way"...i can still hear her say that.
Why was no one helping her in the kitchen..unless you have an Italian grandmother youll never understand lol no one could cook like grandma and everyone slowed her down and just plain got in her way...as well as...no one did it right!!! Well right enough for grandma.
And as for new gadgets...ohh no...nothing made better food then the old home traditional utensils. No need for fancy cooking pots or spoons.
Thank u Gina for the wonderful recipes and memories...

This lady, Gina, is the supreme example of an Italian grandmother. She reminds me of my own grandmother who emigrated from Alano, in south central Italy at the turn of the 20th century. From her gentle, giving demeanour to her expressions and hand movements, she brings back many memories. These immigrants brought their simple way of life and culture and food which they shared so generously and have influenced future generations forever. These are recipes I remember from my own mother’s cooking. I still make a lot of these and my grandchildren love it.

Grazie, Nona Gina, for making this for everyone to see. I learned how to make this at 13 by hanging around my best friend's kitchen after school while her mother cooked. Bracciole was my favorite. We use hard-boiled eggs and breadcrumbs along with parsley and garlic. Heavenly! I'll have to make some very soon! XXOO ❤
