I “stumbled” upon Grandma Gina’s cooking episode (this one: "Italian Grandma Makes Bolognese Sauce") totally by accident. OMG, I am TOTALLY hooked!!! This lady is totally addictive! One just cannot help but smile when you see and hear this ray of sunshine... Her demeanor is totally contagious. Gina is a beam of light, joy, and sincerity during these bleak times. I immediately ordered and recently received her "Cooking With Grandma Gina" opus and will definitely try her recipes. May God bless you and your crew, Grandma Gina, and give us many, MANY more episodes of your talent and sheer joy of life. Gina, could I adopt you as MY grandma, please? 😁

Grandma Gina! I just received a copy of your cookbook. It has brought me great joy! You are so full of light and love and strength! You are an inspiration to all of us. The last recipe in the book, roasted chickpeas looks very interesting. I’m going to make that one first! Thank you for bringing the joy of cooking into my life. @@Vendzor Use recipes that are from Italy. My mother grew up in Italy and I can say there can be a huge difference between real Italian food and what is passed off as Italian-American food. This Bolognese recipe is exactly how it is made in Italy.
@@Vendzor Well first there are many Italian-American dishes that do not exist in Italy. Such as: Spaghetti with Meatballs (They are served as separate courses and Italians think it is disgusting to serve them together), Chicken Parmigiana, Veal Parmigiana, Garlic Bread, Fettuccine Alfredo, Chicken Marsala, and Pepperoni Pizza. Actually, it is impossible to serve pepperoni pizza in Italy, since pepperoni doesn't exist there either. That is just to name a few. Second, way to much garlic used in Italian-American dishes. Italians do not use that much garlic at all. Many Italian pasta sauces actually have no garlic added. The vegetable base (Soffritto) is just onions, carrots and celery. Third is the quality of the ingredients. "Organic" food does not exist in Italy. Because of their strict food laws, everyday Italian food is way beyond USDA Organic. If you want the best tasting food, you need the best tasting ingredients. Forth, the type and ratio of ingredients is just different in real Italian recipes. Also, Italian meals are serve as distinct courses. Italian-American food is often just everything mashed together. Fifth, many of the so called "Italian" food establishments in the U.S., especially the larger chain ones just serve really bad food. Poor menus, poor cooking, and cheap ingredients. You are far better off learning to cook Italian yourself, using actual recipes from Italy, and using the best ingredients available (which might mean using ingredients imported from Italy) Finally, don't even get me started what passes as Italian Pizza in the U.S. 99% of it is totally disgusting.
@@markantony3875 Most of my grocery stores have the usual crap, but there's one place that has imported Italian goods. I have a pack of imported rigatoni I plan to use in a pasta bake. Are pasta bakes a common Italian dish or is that more of an American thing?
No matter how low I may feel, or how difficult my day, watching Gramma Gina cook lifts my spirits like nothing else! PLUS I get help & guidance on how to make amazing Italian food the Old School way . For me, delicious Italian food comforts like a warm hug... and I'm not even Italian! THANK YOU, Gramma Gina & Crew for your hard work. Two thumbs up.
@@teamcompurepo2251 It's my understanding, that Bolognese only uses concentrated tomato or tomato paste with a stock, when you use tomato sauce then it becomes a Ragu. If you remember Gina at the beginning says "This is how "I" make it". I watched another video where someone in Italy made it with just the tomato paste and chicken stock . Watched another one where it was also made with just tomato paste and stock. This would appear to make it a meat sauce rather than a tomato sauce. Either way, there are no rules but I've been trying to figure out the difference between a Ragu and a Bolognese and this seems to the differentiating factor.
I was thrilled to see another video. I was so worried about you… our favorite Grandma…GINA!!!! Love you so much. I yelled Gina has a book out! We ordered it immediately. I’m so happy for you, Gina. That is so special Gina. What a blessing you are and to share your recipes with all of us is precious and wonderful. You bring back memories of my childhood and you remind me of my grandma who I lost when I was only 8 years old. Thank you for letting me remember a time i had one of the greatest blessing on earth, my grandma Sarah. I am going to buy the book. ❤️🙏
Today I searched "authentic Italian food" because that's my favorite kind of food and found her today and instantly fell in love with her. She is so darn precious, I'm sure us trying her recipes and her making them herself, doesn't taste exactly the same because it always needs a mothers/grandmothers touch.
I just discovered her a couple of weeks ago and just love her. She infuses love with every dish she makes, and for me that is the secret ingredient. The love blesses the food and all who eat it are nourished physically, emotionally, and spiritually. A couple of months ago I tried to bake a vegan cake and failed miserably. After watching Grandma Gina I decided to try the focaccia and it came out delicious!!! I ordered some backing supplies so I can do more things like her pizza and other recipes. I make them vegetarian. For the stuffed peppers I will substitute portabella mushrooms since they have a meaty texture. I am a not big fan of the Impossible burger or Beyond Meat because they are so highly processed. Maybe when I am craving that flavor and texture I'll give in. Grandma Gina is a light in a world filled with such sadness, anger, and chaos. I am so blessed to have come across her channel and am grateful for her and her family. God bless them all.
I love to watch you Mama Gina. I also think your cooking is very authentic Italian. We would like to make Pizza & some pasta dishes. We would also like to make cheese.

The purpose of your cookbook states that we supporters bring joy to you, but it’s a two-way street! Thank you, thank you, thank you! By the way, the photos in the back are so sweet! You are so beautiful!!
So happy to see you again!! I wondered if you had ever thought of putting out a cookbook. My birthday is next month so when my husband asks what I would like, I know what to ask for! Welcome back!

I had to stop as soon as I saw your memories at the back of your cookbook. It made me tear up with happiness because you were so thoughtful to bring your memories into what you love. It is so wonderful that you created a cookbook to share with your family and with all of your fans! It makes it so much more special that you captured your memories in the back of the book to make sure that your family never forgets and can always find you with them in their hearts while they are cooking too.
Praise the Lord! This calls for a celebration, 🎉congratulations 🎉 on your new cookbook! I bet they'll sell like hotcakes 😘👌

I'm so over-joyed to see nonna Gina back again, and making Bolagnese sauce.
I'm Italian as well and enjoy cooking and will try this recipe! God bless you all! 🙏
What can I do to be more faithful to Italian cooking? I love Italian food but I can't help but feel many of the recipes I use are too Americanized.
@@Vendzor Use recipes that are from Italy. My mother grew up in Italy and I can say there can be a huge difference between real Italian food and what is passed off as Italian-American food. This Bolognese recipe is exactly how it is made in Italy.
@@markantony3875 What are some of the main differences?
You are far better off learning to cook Italian yourself, using actual recipes from Italy, and using the best ingredients available (which might mean using ingredients imported from Italy)
Finally, don't even get me started what passes as Italian Pizza in the U.S.
I love every thing about Gina, she is a wonderful cook, and a very lovely lady!!! ♥️ and 🙏🏼 May God bless und keep you!
This Bolognese saus is absolutly the original sauce from Bologna.. This is the perfect way of making it.. So much respect!! Love you Nona ;)
No. She made a tomato sauce. Bolognese is a meat sauce.
@@donpettitwedestroyedtheapo6488 nope you're wrong.. I lived in Bologna. At the end Always a small cup of milk
@@shaqqy123 well im glad you didnt make it
@@teamcompurepo2251 no he's right this is southern style
Geno
I agree! I feel like we were just brought into her family and received her precious family recipes. 🥰
Today I searched "authentic Italian food" because that's my favorite kind of food and found her today and instantly fell in love with her. She is so darn precious, I'm sure us trying her recipes and her making them herself, doesn't taste exactly the same because it always needs a mothers/grandmothers touch.
She is awesome! I found her when she first came out on TH-cam. She is so cute!!!
There is no such thing as authentic. Everyone makes it different. I have had bolognese with a touch of nutmeg.
I love to watch you Mama Gina. I also think your cooking is very authentic Italian.
We would like to make Pizza & some pasta dishes. We would also like to make cheese.
It sure does, that is so true .
LOVE .. makes Food "Shine" . 🤠🖖
Love Gina and her cooking book is great and keep singing for us !!!!!! Cant wait for CD
